Vol 3: Chapter 4 - The Fated Profession?

Vol 3: Chapter 4 - The Fated Profession?

You have gained a new profession “Basic Elemental Blacksmith!”

Weed frowned, basic elemental blacksmithing, was a lame name. No matter how many times he read it, the prefix ‘basic’ was lacking luster. Even the original Weed had a cooler class in RR; Legendary Moonlight Sculptor. Clearly, the latter title sounded cooler. Accepting the name as it was, Weed began scrolling down to read more about the profession.

Ode to the Elemental Blacksmith

Fire purges, Winds blow, Water cool and the earth bends.

Reeling to these, behold the four elements of life that govern the continent.

Everyone seeks to bind themselves to one of these four laws.

Elemental Blacksmith behold you are free from these chains of limitations

The others are enslaved by the gods, their hearts easy to corrupt

Hate them not for the path they have chosen, deceived were they easily

Endless possibilities lay in front of you, to decide the course of history

Muster your might,

Fight the struggles

Retreat only to rebound unsuspectingly

Overcome them the vicious obstacles with your strengths

Master to pupils, mentors to pupils have transcends that which has stood in their path.

The times are changing

Hardships and wars will plague the lands

Even though all hope and powers will be lost

Gods like Thor and Ivaldi watch over you now

Others will not understand the path you have undertaken

Don’t despair the challenge

Stand your place and grit your teeth, for that is the dwarven way.

This is the true path of those who seek to forge their own free destiny. Cherish this profession like no other. Go on blacksmith; take this first step amongst the many more to be made and free the world of these chains and darkness.

‘Dwarish poems never make sense’ Sighed Weed.

Weed did not regret the fact that he chose Elemental blacksmith; rather he was disappointed with its benefits and restrictions. Disappointing – was in fact the most appropriate word there was to describe the profession. It was like wearing a crown which did not glitter. Weed sighed as he read the screen again, the profession barely added any SP gains. Though he could overlook that detail, as he gained a lot from consuming the moonstone, the restrictions were too severe. RREV allowed players to have multiple professions and the gap between a profession and skill were too big to be covered with just higher SP. High SP to a stat added damaged incrementally. Professions were boosters to stats, they could multiply stats by 2-3 times. It wasn’t the only effect professions had, archers could fire multiple arrows, martial artists could throw several punches in a second, swordsmen could create varied magical effects with swords….the list grew endlessly. In short, if a player were to master every profession, they would truly be the strongest in battle.

Weed could only pray that this profession was unique and the traits became better over time. The legendary moonlight sculptor wasn’t a bad profession. At least Weed gained powerful attack skills with it. However BEB (basic elemental blacksmith) had only blacksmith as the new skill – it was a productive profession skill. However, all hope was not lost, Weed took notice of three important clues. Firstly, this was basic elemental black smith, this would naturally imply that there was a more advanced version of the profession; hopefully with more benefits too. Secondly, the message said that he would now be able to advance to previously restricted professions. This confirmed the first proposition. Lastly, Theodore always held a competition for those who passed the test from which the winner would be selected as an apprentice. Though the last clue was yet to be revealed, it too reaffirmed Weeds beliefs that BEB was only the first step.

Weed moved on to his skills window, he was most interested to see what Elemental Blacksmithing was all about.

Weed trembled as he tried to sit still; he was finding it difficult to contain his excitement. Elemental Spirits Fusions sounded as awesome as its name suggested; he just gained the ability to create items with elemental affinities. Weed glanced one more time at the skill stats and then closed the window. It was a gamble, where he based everything on the assertion that he was walking the right path and this truly would open up the way just like Legendary Moonlight Sculptor did in Royal Road. The flipside was if it didn’t…Weed would be forever known as a blacksmith and his contributions would never amount to much.

“Weed?” Asked Theodore for the third time. Weed who was lost in his thoughts was brought rushing back to reality when he heard Theodores louder than usual tone.

“I apologize Theodore. I was just trying to digest the amazing profession you have taught me.”

Theodore smiled, he didn’t mind if the elf lost attention while reading about the amazing profession. – flattery always worked.

“Then I repeat for you, Weed. You have qualified and are deemed worthy to be my apprentice. The test will take place a month from now, near Lavias. I will explain the conditions on arrival and only I can declare the winner.”

TRRRIING!

- Quest Part 2 - Blacksmith: A vital profession –

Quest limit: Must be present one month from today

Quest Requirement: Must have cleared the first test.

Quest Failure: If you do not show up, you will lose your class and suffer a significant drop in fame. If you attend the competition and do not win you will not receive the reward and will lose all chance of obtaining it, there will not however be further penalties. If you refuse this quest, all dwarf made items will cost you 50% more.

Another Test thought Weed and he couldn’t even get out of it since it had been automatically triggered. Weed stared at the quest window and groaned, this was never going to end was it? A Level C quest for a level FF/13 player? You have got to be kidding me.’

Turning down the quest was to costly as all good items were dwarven made; paying 50% more made no sense. He was also curious to know more what lay ahead of the Elemental Blacksmith. Weed quietly accepted the quest and started to leave the cabin.

“Weed?”

“Yes, Theodore?”

“Ever held a hammer before?”

“No.”

“Then I suggest you begin at a blacksmith guild, it would be the best place to learn more about it.”

As Weed started walking out of the cabin.

"Oh and Weed!"

"Yes, Theodore?"

"Do something about the silver hair." The dwarf chuckled as Weed left the cabin.
