Transfusion of Trust

Transfusion of Trust

It all started out normal, well, not so normal. I mean, he made me climb up and sit on the small mountain of rocks in a meditation pose. Then he put a rock in each of my hands and right after giving me a sorrowful look, like he was apologizing for something, he pierced my heart with one of his claws. People often say that when a friend stabs you in the back, it hurts, but I didn't think it was real. Though, well, it wasn't precisely in the back, but I think you get the idea.

The sensation of disconnecting from my body is something I've already experienced several times, so it wasn't anything new. But contrary to previous times when I lost consciousness and found myself in total darkness or when I fell asleep and had to walk until I reached dream, at this moment I am walking towards the light, probably the tunnel of death, except instead of a single straight path to the light, there are three different paths.

The first path is white, it was precisely this path that made me think of this situation as the tunnel of death. The second one is a little more yellow like a cheese and the third one is pearly gray, which is the same color as Danamus' blood. I have a lot of doubts and questions right now, but one thing is for sure, I am in this situation because of Danamus, I mean, the fucking bastard was the one who killed me.

Though if I'm honest, I don't really care if I'm dead or not, the worst that could happen is that I'm finally free from this place. I mean, I barely even noticed when I died, but of course, if I can be alive it would be much better. Besides, I trust my companion who was insisting with the fucking rocks for quite some time, so it's safe to assume that he already had a clear idea of what he was going to do. Of course, that doesn't change the fact that the bastard killed me.

So I decided to take the gray path and the closer I got to the light, I felt that everything around me became thick, like entering a swamp and the harder it was to get to the end. The atmosphere became so heavy that it was almost impossible to advance a single step. I gathered all my willpower to move forward and after I don't know how long, I managed to reach the end of the path where the source of light was, which is a drop of ordinary gray blood, which does not even shine.

I turned to look at the other two sources of light, but they had already disappeared and their place was occupied by darkness, leaving as the only source of illumination the place where I was. I don't know what place this is and the way things are, I don't think I can do tourism either, so I took the drop of blood. I mean, it's all that's left and so it must be my way out, but the drop didn't disappear nor did anything different appear, which only leaves me with one idea in mind, I have to swallow the drop.

I put the drop in my mouth and swallowed it immediately. This place is giving me the creeps. Just like with the tree, I soon saw gray spots spreading all over my body. Those changes seemed to last for days, but at the same time everything happened so fast that I lost track of time. I didn't feel tired either, so I was completely lucid as I watched my skin change color, first becoming like an evil smurf and then regaining my natural tone. Everything was weirder than usual.

When I opened my eyes, as I expected, the young dragon had pierced my heart with its claws. Also, there is fresh blood coming out of the wound, as if it were all very recent, so it's very likely that I was only dead for a fraction of a second. But I'm sure I died. I mean, I was stabbed in the heart and as far as I know, that's a sure death. Anyway, the question is why am I still alive when a claw is skewering my heart like a kebab?.

'Fuck, this hurts so much'

“GAAAAR”

I tried to drop the stones I had in my hands to take my chest, but my killer didn't like the idea and stopped me with his tail. Yes, he killed me, but I'm still alive, so for now, I will trust him. It's not like I have many more options, besides if he wanted to hurt me, he could have done it before instead of waiting until now, that added to the fact that if he wanted to eat me and attacked me, I would not be able to defend myself even if I wanted to, so it doesn't make much sense for him to have invented this to kill me.

“Motherfucker, you better have a good explanation”

*Thund*

“GAAAAAAAAAR”

“Eh? well that doesn't solve things, but it makes me feel bet-”

*scrash*

The psychopath pierced his own heart with the claw of his free paw and the gray blood that flowed from his chest transformed into spaghetti-thick threads that connected to my heart. At the same time, with a quick movement of his tail, he cut my wrists and the blood gushed out covering the rocks I was holding in my hands, but the wound was not superficial so the blood kept flowing. It is clear that if things continue like this, then I will die, again.

Little by little, the rocks under me became soaked with my blood and as the red liquid left my body, so did my vitality, being replaced by weakness and coldness. As I felt my life slipping away, Danamus never removed his claw from my chest and even with his tail, he prevented me from dropping the rocks I held in my hands.

The blood continued to flow for a few seconds as if it were a broken dam, to the point where I could feel my body as cold as ice. Slowly, my life was draining away like a candle burning slowly, letting its flame flicker weakly before extinguishing completely. I no longer had the strength even to remain seated, and were it not for Danamus's claw holding me upright, I would surely already be lying on the rocks glazed with blood.

“Grrrr”

“uhg”

Accompanied by a low growl from Danamus and a pain in my chest, gray blood began to flow through the threads embedded in my heart. I don't know what happened inside, but when the dragon's blood entered my body, the warmth that had left me moments before surged through my entire body like a tide. My heart was pounding like a drum in the parade and I could even hear it beating in my chest as if it were agonizing while struggling to fulfill its task.

'A blood transfusion? I'm not very smart, but I don't remember it working like that'

At this point, if I couldn't guess what Danamus is trying to do, I'd doubt my own intelligence. Anyway, if I'm honest, I don't think it'll work. I mean, as far as I recall, you have to be compatible with the blood you receive. Besides the fact that his blood is gray and he's a dragon, I don't think his blood type is O-.

The wounds on my wrists are still open and the blood I'm receiving from Danamus doesn't seem to be enough to restore my strength. I'm still very weak, but at least I don't feel at the gates of the abyss anymore, so I'm not quite sure what's going on, but somehow I'm still alive. Everything is so weird.

"You'd better do some-..thing mea-..ningful to make this worth-..while"

“G-..aa.rr”

Though his eyes say 'trust me,' considering the wonderful situation I find myself in because of him, I'm not so sure it's a good idea to keep trusting his judgment. Yet again, I have no choice but to wait and trust. It's been like this since I've been in this place, nothing has been under my control, I can only wait and trust.

At some point, the red rocks began to disintegrate and vanish until the entire small mountain disappeared completely, leaving as the sole survivors the stones I was holding in my hands, which at this point I don't understand why they haven't fallen if I was no longer holding them. Also, I could feel that my blood had turned into a viscous substance, as if it were a jelly.

“Ga-..rr”

I'm not sure if his roars are of pain or it's his way of using magic, as that dense remaining red liquid moved to the rhythm of his roar, connecting to the stones on my wrists by threads similar to what connected Danamus and me. Then, from the huge red jelly floating in the air, small pieces began to detach and gradually flew into my companion's mouth.

*Uhgk*

"Shit"

With the threads connected, the speed at which the blood entered my heart increased, increasing also the pain I felt in my chest. It was like needles piercing my heart, well, instead of needles it's a claw. At the same time, the speed at which the blood was flowing out of my wrists also increased. Time seemed to pass slowly and soon half of the red cloud had already been ingested by Danamus.

'This has no scientific basis whatsoever, in fact, it doesn't even make sense'
