Pushing the undergrowth out of the way I used my two pairs of eyes to scan the bright the surroundings for threats and prey, Flysa silently and happily rolling behind me. Luckily the sun was mostly set by this time, otherwise I would be blinded by the light rays leaking through the forest canopy. Speaking of which, I glanced upward with one head, the trees towering far above my small body. I really hate being this small. It really puts things into perspective; I hope I don’t find an anaconda or something like that. Though that’s a flag…
*krik My ear perked at the distant noise. Turning my heads I slowly and carefully made my way in the direction of it, my spear-mace gripped tightly in my right hand. Vibrations in the ground notified me of a large being making its way towards me, I stiffened, and not just large in my perspective. From the weight it could very likely be a bear, probably not the wisest thing to fight considering my small size. Can I make a trap with magic? Pitfall sounds good.
Focusing my mana into my feet I stomped downwards, hollowing the earth underneath the layer of grass and forming condensed spikes on the bottom made of stone. “Flysa,” I whispered, “stay hidden, if whatever it is doesn’t die when it falls in, but losses its arms you are to suffocate it.”
“Pyruun!” I smiled and started moving towards the heavy steps coming in my general direction. Now that it was closer I realized its not the lumbering of a four-legged bear, but the heavy walk of a bi-pedal. Hesitating for only a moment I continued forwards, traveling just thirty meters from the pitfall before seeing it another twenty meters away.
Green skin, yellowish tusks jutting out of its thick lower jaw, roughly humanoid with large meaty arms, pot belly, and black bristly hair spiking out of its back. A dirty loincloth was wrapped around its waist and it carried a large tree-branch as a form of weapon. Orc? I briefly thought before the fatty spotted me and sickly grinned, opening its mouth and roaring; “VRAAAAAAAL!”, charging a second later. Spinning on my heel I dashed back towards the trap, the orc quickly closing the distance between us with its large legs. Barely passing over the trap in time I ripped apart the ground with magic; “Guah!?”; the fat orc fell into the trap face first. *CRACKKKKK
Under his weight the spikes snapped, only the first couple centimeters managing to pierce his flesh. One however luckily pierced his throat and the orc was now coughing blood as it tried to get its arms under itself. Out of the corner of an eye I saw Flysa jump into the pit and land on the orcs head, instantly wrapping around it and starting to digest the orcs face. Not hesitating I jumped in after her, landing on the orcs back and thrusting the mana-filled spear point into the orcs heart, crushing a few thick ribs in the process.
But even then the orc didn’t die, still struggling in a vain attempt to free its arms from the spikes. Focusing I channeled mana into my spear, Kinetic Pulse! The orcs skin rippled and shook as a wave of energy shot throughouts its body, pulverising organs and cracking bones.
The orc finally laid still, and I grimaced at the feeling of its sticky skin under my feet. Quickly I created a platform and stepped onto it. *ting~

Flysa has gained the trait [Shock Magic]!
Shock magic? I looked over to Flysa with one head while the other checked the surroundings for other dangers. Flysa meanwhile was happily devouring the liquid organs and blood oozing out of the orcs face. I grimaced, liquid flesh is not something I want to eat.
*thump.
My face instantly hardened at the vibration of multiple heavy beings coming in this direction. Hurriedly gripping my mana I pushed outwards, creating half a dozen new spike traps in the ground while renewing the broken spikes and moving the orc. “Flysa, stop eating for now and get ready to fight. Multiple orcs are coming towards us.”
“Pyrun.” I glanced at the orc Flysa separated from. Up close it was easily six times my height, and according to the status window it was merely a medium sized adolescent. I should expect the other orcs to be larger, older, and more powerful. Swinging my spear I made a thing cover of earth above me and Flysa along with a small burrow to the side to hide in. If I could I wanted to play this without the orcs ever seeing us. Focusing on the earth I let my mana seep out into the ground, gradually giving me a picture of the world around me. An orc stepped onto the land. A second, third. In total six orcs now were over my pitfalls. Crumbling the ground all at once I let them fall, ignoring their cries of surprise and pain as I forced the earth into them through the spikes, around their heads, limbs; and quickly and quietly crushed them.
Opening my eyes I opened a hole to the surface and climbed out with Flysa. Looking around with my two heads I exposed the orcs bodies from where they were buried, crushed skin, bones and all. I wrinkled both noses at the smell, that was anticlimactic. Though its probably because none of them can use magic or sense me. Fighting stupid enemies is a gift that shouldn’t be taken for granted.
Gesturing to Flysa I let her continue devouring the corpse crushed with my kinetic pulse I overviewed the other six orcs, only one of which was smaller than the first orc, the others easily being a couple dozen centimeters taller. Each one wielded some kind of weapon, the largest even wielded a rusted iron greatsword. *ting~

I gave a brief glance towards the status window before dismissing it and focusing my magic. Levitate and follow. Slowly the corpses rose in the air, including the one Flysa was munching on. I noted in satisfaction the amount of mana I was using wasn’t much and turned around, heading towards our base while pulling the corpses through the air.
-------
Reaching the base I buried all but one of the corpses in the wall and surrounded them with condensed stone to keep them from rotting. Maybe I can also invent an ice spell as well… Turning around I glanced at Flysa who was still devouring the almost liquified orc corpse. *ting~
Through [Assimilation] Flysa has gained the trait [Keen Smell]!
Through [Assimilation] Flysa has gained the trait [Berserker]!
Through [Assimilation] Flysa has gained the trait [Sword Mastery]!
My lips quirked upwards in amusement at the status window. Berserker healer eh? Maybe her next evolution will give her a humanoid form. She has been devouring orcs which are humanoid so maybe… Speaking of, I sat down and crossed my legs, wrapping my long fluffy tail around my waist as I meditated, If I am correct then our actions, achievements and other things like what we eat and experience affect our evolutions. So if I specialize in a type of magic I will likely gain an evolution down that path.
I opened my eyes and absently stared at the roof. Specializing would definitely make me powerful, after all if you defend everywhere you will be weak everywhere. The problem is what to focus on. Pondering I opened my and Flysa’s status.

Flysa seems to be building in the direction of a druid/warrior, while I on the other hand am all over the place, but mostly seem to specialize in magic. So go the mage route? I’m not particularly interested in long range magic; partly due to the romance of fighting up close and personal, and partly because I wasn’t sure how my mana would act far away from me.
I’d prefer close to mid-range concentrated magic with powerful potency. So shall I focus on Kinetics? Its general enough to not leave me with many weaknesses, but potent enough to be powerful. If I also get earth magic then I will be well off. I can leave healing to Flysa, and if I can find another companion to cover wind and or water then we will have a decent team.
Letting my tail sweep outwards behind me I focused both my minds and gathered mana around me. Now let's see, Kinetics is anything pertaining to motion, whether this be a vector or otherwise. No matter what it is it has a vector, even energy. Kinetic magic is the ability to affect and change these vectors with my will, no matter the object. I can create heat by vibrating molecules, or stop them and freeze anything. Even space itself, if it bends or shifts, it can be affected with my magic. Whether it is the tiniest particle or the largest black holes, Kinetics governs all motion. I opened my eyes both my mouths grinned, ““Let’s create some magic shall we?””
