It’s been three years since he arrived in this world. He could have left this island as soon as he ate Ace’s Devil Fruit, but instead he decided to train. If he didn’t have full control over his powers, then he would still be weak!
Thanks to Yan Yu’s memories, he knew that the strong dominated the weak here. Like the law of the jungle, it’s survival of the fittest.
This body of his hasn’t cultivated like the others, however he didn’t mind that. At least he knew that he was able to cultivate the strange energy in this world. However he couldn’t, because he didn’t have the skill or know how to do so. The only thing he could do was sense that there was something around him, yet he couldn’t grasp it yet.
His first year here, he spent most of his time practicing his swordsmanship. Improving bit by bit, his skills slowly advanced. Mihawk’s skills were now like his own, his movements were sharp using the least amount of strength needed.
During this year, he made a few purchases of different abilities. Already having Swordsmanship, Devil Fruit consumption, Energy converter, he brought Navigation, and Nursing. For some reason, when he tried to buy more the admin told him he needed to advance the system. Thus he could only had those five abilities.
There’s a problem with that, he doesn’t know how to advance the system!
Naturally he already knew his goal was to buy another Devil Fruit, so he spent the least amount of points on those skills. He could upgrade them to the next tier with more points, but Yan D. Yu wasn’t looking to be some genius doctor or a master navigator.
During the day time on this island most of the magical beast slept, however at night time they became highly active. The first night he slept here, he had a hard time adjusting.
However as the year progressed he became aware of their presence. This is what surprised him, he learned Observation Haki (Kenbunshoku Haki) without buying it. That was when he learned that you didn’t need the system to buy everything, as long as you worked hard you’ll eventually gain it.
Observation Haki itself in the system costed 30000 points, just for level one. He was grateful that he learned it without paying, that saved him a ton of points.
Towards the end of the year, he ended up buying Armament Haki (Busoshoku Haki) for 50000 points. No matter how hard he tried, he didn’t seem to have the ability to learn it himself.
Yan D. Yu was surprised that he couldn’t learn it. He didn’t want to spend any points, but the longer he stayed here, the more he found out about this place.
Some magical beast here were immune to his fire ability, and their skin was too thick for his sword to cut. This was a huge drawback for him as now he understood that he couldn’t get by with just his Devil Fruit powers alone.
It put a dent into his points, but he ended up learning it. The Armament Haki only showed around his hands or feet, but if he wanted it to go further he would have to increase it’s level.
He could also use his Armament Haki to coat his weapon, but when he did that he ended up expending a lot of his energy. This was a vital for his survival, and he needed to upgrade it.
On this island, there were a variety of magical beast. When he killed them once, he gained a huge amount of points. However the next time he killed the same species, it gave him less than half the points he acquired the first time.
Learning that, he sulked for a few days. The system only gave him a huge amount of points for the first time he sold their core.
There were different tiers of monsters here. During his first year, the strongest he encountered was a three headed snake. It ended up giving him 30000 points.
Yan D. Yu couldn’t figure out some of the magical beast ranks, but he knew that the stronger ones gave him more points.

The second year of being here, he thought about buying Conquers Haki (Haoshoku Haki) for himself. How could the Pirate King not have that ability? The price for it was twenty times the amount for a single devil fruit. Thus he knew he was not going to get that anytime soon.
He had a few lucky encounters with some magical beast that he hadn’t seen before and killed them. He came across that giant ape two times that year and both times he almost died. Even with all his skills, it still wasn’t enough.
Escaping with his life still in tact, he made it his goal to kill that magical beast as soon as possible. Training harder than ever, increased his speed, strength, and ability to use his Devil Fruit powers.
Yan D. Yu tried to remember all the moves Ace used, and even came up with his own. He was fully into it, feeling like he was Ace himself. Even going as far as buying Ace’s outfit.
No one would think that clothing would do much, but those people are wrong! When he wore Ace’s outfit, all his fire skills increased in size and damage. This was a two piece outfit. Only having the orange hat and his black shorts. He could have brought the others, but they weren’t needed his fire skills to increase. They were counted as accessories instead, which he could agree on.
Having feeling accomplished at his month's worth of training, he hunted more magical beast once more. Buying ‘Twin Usage’ and ‘Custom’ made him happy inside. Those were the last two things he brought from the system. The other cores he sold to the system. He wanted to wait until he had enough points to buy another Devil Fruit.
It was the beginning of the Third year when he finally killed that giant ape.
“Yan D. Yu, you’ve done good.” He said as he patted his stomach that was full.
He did find it strange that no one ever came to this island during his time here. Usually a few disciples from the sects close by would come for training, however he had not once encountered one.
Glancing around, the scenery greatly changed. It was a forest filled with trees and lush grass, however now it’s just charred ground and black trees. Over these years, the damage done to this island would take a while to recover.
Yan D. Yu was somewhat upset that he didn’t get a reward for killing all of these magical beast. He at least expected to use the bounty system, but that failed. The admin told him it wasn’t activated yet, and needed a little more time.
Standing at the edge of the island, he gazed out at the open sea. Closing his eyes, he brought the One Man boat ace used before. It was only 500 points, so he wasn’t worried.
His new goal was to set out and make a name for himself. He would travel this world with a crew of his own. Being chased by the government, different sects just made his heart jump with joy.
One thing that was never fully understood in One Piece was what it meant to be King of the Pirates. It surely didn’t mean being the most wanted man alive, but Yan D. Yu was sure he would figure it out while on his journey.
Opening his eyes, the boat was already in front of him.
He could make his arms turn into Phoenix wings like Marco, but he didn’t know how big the energy consumption would be. It would be game over for him if he fell into the ocean while trying to cross it.
He laughed as he thought about a news headline saying, “King of Pirates; Died at sea.”
Smiling as he placed the orange hat over his hair, he did a flip and landed on the boat. Purple flames emerged from his feet as the boat took off at a frightening speed.
“BlueMoon Continent, here I come!”
