Chapter 29
Yan’s eyes were cold and he felt disgusted. Not by the fact that Mo was using cultivators as his guinea pigs, but disgusted at the fact that he was being used. But for some reason, he couldn’t stop smiling on the inside.
“I’m not going to test anything, not now or ever. I could care less what you would do with those people, but you will not touch me or my crew, do you understand?” Yan spoke with an authoritative tone that one could not help but admire.
“I understand, but that doesn’t mean anythi-” Mo was speaking but he couldn’t finish his sentence because the Te Lin who grew wings out of his back started shaking fiercely. His eyes turned black there was not even a hint of light.
Yan glared at Mo, “What is this? Wasn’t this the evolution you were overjoyed about?”
Mo shook his head, “No. It seems I would need an even stronger subject. Te Lin passed the first stage, but it seems he has failed the second.”
“What stages are you talking about?”
Mo laughed lightly, “Now that is for me to know isn’t it?”
Yan couldn’t be bothered by Mo anymore, he has finished what he set out to do. He came here to destroy a sect and make a name for himself, he has done that. It was time for him to leave this place.
As Mo watched Yan approach the door, he spoke once more, “You can’t be leaving already can you? Yan, there is still much more to do.”
“I don’t have to do anything, our goals just aligned with each other which is why we cooperated. However we no longer have any goals aimed towards the same thing, thus it is time to say goodbye.”
Mo grinned at Yan which frankly creeped him out a little. Mo seemed so confident that Yan would work with him again.
“You may not seem interested on the outside, but I know you are curious on the inside. What if I told you about the first immortal to ascend to the heavens?” Mo suggested.
“No thanks, I could care less about the first immortal.” Yan quickly replied.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.
Seeing how Yan could care less for the first immortal, Mo lost his trump card. What other reason was there for Yan to stay? Nothing.
A quick thought passed through Mo’s head, but he dismissed it.
Yan left Mo’s secret room and went back to the upper floors. His crew was seated at the table, but they weren’t eating. Leah had a map open showing off different locations, while Dex and Vixen were absorbed into her pace.
‘It seems she is already up to something.’ Yan said to himself.
He wondered what sort of plan Leah had come up with. Now that they were done with this place, it was best to move on.
Yet, he couldn’t shake this feeling of weakness. He knew he was stronger than before, but he felt weak at the same time. As if there was some sort of flaw.
He wanted to think it over, but now was not the time. He could do that while they traveled.
Walking over towards the table they were at, Vixen slid over and made room for him.
“Brother Yan, we were just thinking about our next destination. Sister Leah was telling us of potential places.” Dex told Yan.
Yan glanced at Leah with a questioning look.
“I didn’t pick a place for us to go, but I saw potential locations for us. I’d imagine you would want to pick the destination for yourself, so these are the ones that I came up with.” Leah said to him as she pointed at five different locations.
Yan seemed uninterested in these locations.
“Have you heard the story of the young man who traveled the world and fought against the world?” Yan randomly said.
The three of them looked at him but said nothing.
“That young man, his adventures, his crew, his fame, everything about him was legendary. He had a title, people called him the King of the pirates. I want that same thing, for people to remember me for many, many, years to come.” Yan said.
“...Yan… where is this going?” Vixen asked curiously.
“Many years later, another young man started following in his footsteps to achieve his dream of being King of the pirates. His foes were many, and there were always people who doubted his strength. Yet time and time again he overcame those doubts. If his story continued, i’m sure that he would have became King of the pirates as well.” Yan paused for a moment as he gazed down at the map. “Legendary people aren’t born, they are made. And my legend is just beginning.”
Yan looked up and gazed into Leah’s eyes. “He broke out of the prison that no one else could. I want to destroy the prison that is holding everyone else back.” A grin came across his face. “Let's destroy the shackles that every cultivator fears. We won’t wait for anything, we won’t play it safe. Let's kill them all.”
