As she held him in her arms she gritted her teeth. He was only human but he tried to go against something greater than this own strength. He could not cultivate, this was proven time and time again. She felt bitter inside, she shouldn’t have let him come here alone. Because although his power was great she knew that it had to come at a cost. With him being this weak, she now figured that this was the cost.
Her eyes locked on Dex and Vixen who came shortly after. It seemed they wanted to say something but didn’t.
Leah spoke up since they didn’t, “Find all the cultivation books and any items that are of use to us. We’ll store them on the ship for later.”
Dex had that look in his eyes asking if they should really rob this place. However the answer he got could be seen from Leah’s eyes. There was nothing else that needed to be said.
“And Yan? How long before he recovers” Dex asked.
“I don’t know, his muscles are torn and it seemed he tried to use something he didn’t have. In this case, it would be Qi.” Leah answered him.
“Well at least the sect won’t live to see another day right? One alliance sect down only like a thousand more left to destroy.” Vixen said.
“Getting rid of sects from the alliance is only part of his plan, Yan has something else in mind.”
“What else could be bigger than getting rid of the alliance?”
Leah stopped to think for a moment but she could not answer. “Ask Yan when he awakens.
……….
When he finally opened his eyes he could still feel the pain that lingered over his body. It wasn’t as great as when he first felt it, but it was still enough that it stung.
Yan glanced over towards the door and it swung open. Dex along with Vixen both walked into the room.
“He’s awake.”
“That he is.”
“How many days was I out?” Yan couldn’t help but ask.
“Today marks the third.” Dex replied.
“Any urgent news?” Yan asked.
“No, there hasn’t been a word of Te Lin or the alliance trying to retaliate. My guess is that he died before he got to tell them of what happened.”

“There was still his Demon Falcon, even if it couldn’t talk, they would still be able to understand something was wrong. Given the amount of time that has past I suspect either the alliance doesn’t care that one of their own sects was destroyed. Or Te Lin nor his Demon Falcon made it to the alliance.” Yan spoke.
Vixen felt curious, “Who could no, who would take out Te Lin and his Demon Falcon? There aren’t many who would stand up against the alliance. There also aren’t a lot of cultivators around this part who has the strength to take on Te Lin.”
Yan had a sudden thought. He just needed to act on it as he urged his body to get out of bed. There might not have been someone with a grudge against the alliance, but there was someone very close by who wanted a Master Sage’s body.
“Where are you going?”
“I’ll be back.” Yan answered swiftly as he left the room.
Downstairs Yan hurried over towards the back room and used the secret entrance to make his way to where Mo was located. Mo always gave him a strange feeling and now he knew why. Mo was using him, he was using him all along. From the first day they met Mo has been planning something big, but Yan didn’t know what.
How else would he know those locations of where the disciples were located? He must have known Yan would need them when he saw the state of the town. He knew Yan couldn’t beat Te Lin, at least he couldn’t kill him completely. Why would Mo know about Te Lin? He knew all of his strengths and weaknesses, his family situation, Mo knew it all. For what though, what gain did he have? There was a limit as to going so far into finding out about a person who was coming close by your town. Yet Mo went further and found out every detail about Te Lin.
Yan burst opened the door the Mo’s room. All the bodies were gone, there was a single body there and Yan could easily tell who it was. It was the man who escaped his death, Te Lin!
“Mo, where are you?” Yan yelled out.
“Quiet down will you.” A voice called back as Mo came from another room.
Yan never saw that room before, he thought that this one room was just it. It seemed like Mo was hiding more from him. No worries, the truth would all come out sooner or later.
Pointing at Te Lin he asked, “What is this?”
Mo spoke with a devilish grin, “Do you even need to ask? You already know what is going to happen don’t you? How about I ask you something now, where did you get your powers? A human with abnormal abilities, you don’t see this everyday.”
“This isn’t about me, this is about you using me. For what?”
Mo reached into his pocket and took out a vial with dark orange liquid inside it.
“I didn’t ‘use’ you. You got what you wanted, and I got what I wanted? Just because you went along with what I said does not mean I ‘used’ you now does it?” He opened the vial and poured it in Te Lin’s mouth.
“Besides, you should be grateful towards me. Think about what would have happened if he escaped and told the rest of the alliance. I honestly don’t think you are ready for that, since you know… you broke after one fight. It seems to me your powers are too great for you to handle, you can’t bear the burden. How about… you hand them over to me?”
Te Lin’s body started spasming as he opened his eyes which were bloodshot red. He started screaming in pain as tearing sounds could be heard. Yan watched him suffer as two large white wings protruded from his back.
“Ah, finally!” Mo exclaimed.
Yan’s eyes twitched, he needed an answer. Was Mo friend… or foe? At this point he was too weak to fight back.
Mo saw the look in Yan’s eyes and slightly grinned. “This my friend, this… is evolution! Do not worry however, you aren’t on my list. Although you would make a good specimen, I can’t take that risk. At least not now when I don’t fully understand the evolution theory. One day though… one day Yan, we will both test it out… together!”
