042. Captain is the last to leave the ship

POV Kirk, Ahriman’s Order, from Diana group originally

I saw Diana’s fight with Vivaldi and it impacted me to great extent. It changed my mind. I always wanted to have power. If I wasn’t or couldn’t be most powerful, I wanted to be closest to powerful ones I could. That was why I was happy among Ahriman’s Order. I was close to the strongest. I was one of few, that could produce heart mixture in Order. I had comfortable life, as Diana paid me for mixture by feeding my seed secretly. I was sure, that Diana was the strongest. Even Unlimited Devas needed three of their superior fighters to fight her to standstill.

But she wasn’t strongest anymore. She became lazy and spent her time in headquarters. Vivaldi, of which I was sure, that at Mokotov field he was weaker than Diana, must have train like a madman. And he became the strongest. I must have been blind. Three others run away without waiting for result of the fight. The knew for sure, that Diana time was ending. Was I as Diana, too comfortable, to do something good for myself? Maybe I was.

I found old contacts at the night after the fight and wrote to Vivaldi. He answered, that he could use some help, but only if he wouldn’t babysit me in exchange. I thought hard that night.

Diana and Beria noticed nothing. We worked that evening till late night to eliminate harms done by fire. The smell of burning penetrated building and things in it. The least of smell was in basement. Diana was angry and unpredictable. Beria seemed afraid of her. Brunt of discontent was put on me. She was right, I was too weak to help. I understood that moment, that she did nothing to make me stronger. I saw through her, her words were worth nothing. She wanted to, by analogy, drink from glass, when she didn’t fill it earlier. She cursed me, that glass, that it was empty, that I couldn’t help.

If I even got strength somehow, why should I lend my force to her for free? What was she expecting, really. She expected to use me. She acted as parasite. I didn’t notice it earlier, because there were lot of us and we played in game. We were like children and played game of hiding from punishment. During that game we focused on avoidance of punishment and blaming others so much, that we didn’t see, when we were robbed.

I was afraid, that Diana could somehow guess my thoughts. She didn’t.

In the morning came Adam. He helped us a little, then had serious talk with Diana. Then we had announcement, that, Carol, Adam’s uncle, was probably under Devas influence. He wasn’t lost case yet, but we were ordered not to talk with him.

When Diana, Beria and Adam went for big, strategic meeting, I packed myself, took my seed and left Ahriman’s Order for good or worse. Nobody stopped me, as there was nobody guarding anymore. Doors to room with seeds were broken and nobody restored them. I felt as fool, when I looked into the room and saw, that my seed was last one to leave.

I didn’t look back, when I went to train station. There was nothing more to see behind me.

POV Adam

We had good, intensive, strategic meeting. We could manage with four of us and help from acolytes. I could stay at uncle’s base for some time. Our aim was to grow Diana to level four. She was sure, that she could subdue all others after that. Beria had address for another squat. He said, that it would be lot easier if Legibot go there first and let us in after, but we could force ourselves in. One night should be enough for us to destroy all of them. We would need to work fast and strike hard, but with poison on makeshift spears, we were able to do it.

I asked Beria, why was he bend on attacking his former friends or people sharing similar ideology. He answered, that they betrayed him first. LGBT community wasn’t proper leftist community at all by him. I dug more a little and he said, that real leftists from Russia hated LGBT. They tolerated them, because of their use against West culture.

Diana was sure, that she needed less than ten grown up bodies to reach level four. I was sure, that with my help, we could rebuild Ahriman’s Order.

After we finished meeting, it appeared, that Kirk abandoned us. His stuff and seed disappeared and there was no traces of violence or attack.

Diana stopped speaking out to us, as we were guilty of Kirk’s runaway. She spent some time on the highest floor looking into the window. Then she started packing herself.

I asked her many times, what was happening. Beria tried to talk to her too. She ignored us. When she was ready to leave, she looked at us and said farewell words.

-= Ahriman’s seed still exist, but Ahriman’s Order is no more. – Then she left. I was crying and begging, but she ignored me.

Beria waited long time, till I gathered myself.

-= I’m taking over this squat. – He said. – If you have your things here, you should take them with you.

-= What, why? – I couldn’t think straight. – Without Diana all is lost anyway.

-= All is lost, but one needs to live. I need to live.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

-= I don’t understand.

-= You don’t. You have this uncle, who can help you. And I? – He smiled with joy. – For me, it’s better to drift on boat full of holes, than swim through sea by myself.

-= I still don’t understand.

-= We are castaways.

He left me alone for some time. He came back with majority of my things, I had in headquarters.

-= Take them and leave.

I couldn’t move. I felt, as if I needed to wait, till Diana would come back or till I would wake up from that nightmare.

-= Take them and leave. – He repeated.

I looked at him for very long moment. My thoughts crystalized.

-= Why are you not sad? – I asked with anger. – Why aren’t you in despair? Was you that spy, that destroyed Ahriman’s Order? That should be you. From us two, it must be you. Spy didn’t run away in the middle of Diana’s fight against Vivaldi.

He laughed.

-= Spy stayed and used mental attack, when Diana was defenseless. – I continued. – That explains everything!

I jumped on him. He used something, that surprised me. He had tear gas. I lost my sight for a while. He blocked me from going to bathroom. I used clothes to lean eyes, but that only made pain and tears worse.

He laughed at me circling me. I wanted to attack again, but calmed myself down.

-= You can say, that I helped to destroy Ahriman’s Order. – He said. – Vivaldi was writing to me rarely, but I didn’t reported that to Diana. Perhaps he even got some crucial info or something from our messages. But calling me a spy, what kind of theory is that. I was second after you, highest tier cultist. My life wasn’t as miserable as others life. So, why do you believe in that spy theory so much?

-= It’s the only theory, that explains why Diana left.

-= No. It’s obvious, why she left.

-= If it’s obvious tell me, and I will tell you why spy theory can be valid.

-= Ok. – He stopped laughing, turned serious. – After Kirk left, we lost last heart medicine producer. There’s no good way to catch new acolytes now. We can use other mixtures theoretically, but we need them to strengthen ourself first. Then, there is hunting problem. Diana couldn’t trust us, that we would provide her human food, as we would be in need too.

-= We had this plan…

-= We didn’t anymore, as we were short on personnel. If we went there, nobody would stay in headquarters. Another fire could burn it to the ground. There was no good solution.

-= But why she left?

-= If she had to hunt by herself, we were dead weight. She didn’t want to provide, to help us in any way.

-= You’re liar. She cared about us.

-= That’s what you said, not what are facts showing. Now tell me about spy theory.

I told him, what my uncle said about signs of influence. Even will defense stat showed us, that we were under sinister mental attack. He asked me few times about some details. Then he started to laugh again.

-= Why are you laughing, it proves spy theory.

He laughed even louder. He cried from laugh.

-= O my god, oh my god, what a moron. – He was whispering between attacks of laugh. I felt slighted.

-= Stop laughing, it’s serious! – My words didn’t help.

In the end I took my things and left. I knew, that I had breakout after Diana left. I was sad and couldn’t do much. Maybe Beria had laughing breakout. I was sure, he wasn’t spy, because he laughed so much, that he couldn’t stand straight. No serious spy would act like that.

POV nobody, narrative for summary of Ahriman’s Order

As starting point of Ahriman’s Order, it is believed to be moment of Diana merge with her bio-stone. None reliable data, why she decided on such unthinkable step was gathered. Then Diana was looking for followers through web. She started threads of internet forums. She contacted Andy, later known as Hail, and John, later deceased, before main meeting of hosts. They already helped her organize events at host meeting. She didn’t let them catch her with levels. At the host meeting at Mokotov field she impressed her group. Group consisted of Adam, Asmo and Kirk. She had follow up after meeting. She helped hosts to get to second level. That caused, that Mario, which was Vivaldi’s former follower, and Beria, who was in Vivaldi’s group at meeting, joined Diana’s party. In the meantime, Gustav, later known as Ghost, came with his bio-stone. He was incorporated to Diana’s side. After all available hosts for party were gathered Diana announced creation of Ahriman’s Order. She became leader, called voice of Ahriman.

Creation of organization associated with violence and murder helped cultists at the beginning. They easily was able to cross their moral and cultural limitations. They established their own headquarters and created hunters culture. They even were able to start recruiting acolytes and got some financial support. Their development stalled, when hunt results stopped satisfying Diana’s needs. She forced orders, that made her fellow cultists suffer as she suffered. Even worse, only half of cultists could avoid starvation, even if Diana’s needs was satisfied. Acquisition of another bio-stone was significant, but didn’t change trend.

It is known, that over cult, mainly its headquarter, was put will degrading influence. Cultists suffer from intellectual, emotional and motivational degradation. Conditions in Ahriman’s Order were degrading too. As first cracks we count murder of John and runaway of Asmo. First break point was, when Devas team forced Diana out of their areas. Lack of diplomacy skills and weakness of ordinary cultists led to infraction of authority inside Order. Another cultist defected. What worse, he was higher rank cultist, Andy.

After analysis of Diana’s responses, it is said, that cult was headless structure. Cultists were trying to satisfy basic instincts of their bio-stones. There was no bigger plan or dream to achieve. After occurred, that level three bio-stones needed to be kept with distance and separately, it was impossible to maintain centralized in one place cult. Diana responses dealt with immediate problems, but didn’t prepare for future crisis with abundance of level three bio-stones.

Second breaking point was, when Vivaldi alone fought Diana to standstill. Authority of Ahriman’s Order was in shambles. Former cultists Mario, Legibot and Ghost ran away. Few weeks before, they would be too afraid to think about escaping. At that time they were ready at standby, waiting for right moment. Then Order collapsed fast, as there was no common interest among cultists. Carol deflected after week of avoiding headquarters. Kirk left, because Diana couldn’t impress him enough.

For finish of Ahriman’s Order we take moment, when Diana said, that Order didn’t exist anymore. It was her organization and other leaders didn’t appear in it, to exchange her or continue her work.

Diana left her two most loyal cultists alone and disappeared for some time.

It is said, that Ahriman’s Order murdered over twenty people. Most of them at its beginnings. Ownerless and later bought animals couldn’t be counted precisely.

By the words of former cultists, except Diana, nobody benefited in cult in a way, that they couldn’t benefit more apart from cult. Unsaid is, that cult erased qualms for violence.
