Chapter 1 – Desert Lunatics

A man only cries when his family’s lives was on the table.

Adrian grew numbed from heartache though. He didn’t know how many years. Every day seemed like daylight because the night became shorter.

“Fucking hell.” He wanted to kick the ground. But doing unnecessary things might exacerbate into potential crisis.

“Vision. No vision. All I see is just a sea of Desert Lunatics. Where is that place?” He’d been venturing to the west in hopes of facing the fabled Crime Lord.

But all he’d faced were obstacles after obstacles. Just like this time.

Desert Lunatics were the product of the combustion of earth’s energy. Due to the extreme heat, the earth’s energy became corrupted. It turned into radiation that transformed people into a slobbering mess of a creature who hated the living.

A single Desert Lunatic wasn’t scary. But facing a group of them like what heroes do on the tv could only appear in his imagination.

“Because of earth’s energy, a human can transcend his limits by using a medium. Sword, guns, etc. are examples of a medium. Nevertheless, it has limits. Sword has durability while gun needs bullets.”

Adrian grimaced after seeing how many bullets he has left. At the same time, those slowpokes kept following him. They didn’t know exhaustion so Adrian had to do something before he run out of gas.

“Heh. Those guys. They are cute if not for their annoying tenacity. I should speed up, I think.” Adrian grimaced once more. Stamina was another important resource. Hence, jogging became the optimal action when running away. This was the worst solution if confronted by a group of Desert Lunatics, though.

Thus, he ran. Soon enough, he couldn’t see them anymore in the back.

But his dilemma hadn’t ended yet. Just before he could sigh, the orange sky transformed into golden sand.

Swish.

Adrian’s eyes changed. Sudden weightlessness emerged. Looking down, he could see the earth swallowing him. He roared and fired a bullet into the earth’s mouth!

Bang! The impact pushed him into a dozen of meters in the air. But the hole became larger and larger, and the latter could only be a helpless lamb!

Fwip. Silence ensued after the man vanished.
