Chapter 33: The exchange that changed everything (2)

“Now, why don’t we enjoy this food”

Ivor nodded slowly and ate what he had ordered. Although it tasted really good, more than he had ever tasted before, he really didn’t have any appetite for today.

But he still forced it into his mouth. The sweet taste of the cake and cream and the taste of the fruit jam really made him want to keep eating this dessert.

Damn. It tasted really amazing but the timing was really bad.

Ivor wanted to curse but held it back. After finishing, the two returned to the previous discussion.

“So, what do you want me to do?” Ivor asked and prepared for all possibilities.

“For now, nothing. You don’t have to do anything unnecessary and I don’t have anything I want.”

“Then, why are you forcing me to work for you if you don’t want anything?”

“Because it’s fun.” Ivo laughed. He shook his head while sipping the milkshake in his hand. “Besides, with your current condition, you won’t be able to do anything meaningful to me. Even if you move and do something, it will only attract Raven’s suspicion.”

Tsk… you crazy bastard. Ivor really wanted to curse at this moment but he once again held it back. If that was the case, why did he do that and even threaten him?

Was it all just empty talk?

Was it all just a pretense?

No. I would be an idiot if I thought that way.

This person in front of him was so cunning. So cunning that he had fallen into the same hole twice. This person’s words definitely had ulterior motives and he really couldn’t be underestimated.

There was something bigger than Ivor could imagine right now. Therefore, he truly believed what this person said.

“Oh, right. Do you still want information about the Court of The Dead? Maybe with this, you will at least be of use to Raven. Not just a burden that can’t even be of any use.”

Hearing those words, Ivor fell silent. After a while, he finally nodded. “Alright. Since things have come to this, there’s no point in pretending anymore.”

A black shadow rose and wrapped around the dagger he had thrown away and brought it back to his hand. Ivor put down the two Cakerolls he had eaten and sheathed the dagger again. “Before that, tell me what price I have to pay for this.”

“It depends. How much you want to know and how deep the information you want is. Of course, there’s a limit to what I can say and I don’t want to attract unnecessary trouble.” Ivo looked outside through the window beside him.

His eyes seemed to be looking towards Ernest Cemetery. There, the shaman Veibel Ernest was residing. Ivor also followed the direction Ivo was looking and could understand a little.

“Unlike Raven who is hostile to the Court of The Dead, I have no intention of fighting them. You already know that, right? So don’t ask for more than you can get.” Ivo reminded him one last time.

Seeing Ivor nodding his head, he knew that this person had fallen. There was no turning back.

‘Now, the fire will grow bigger and bigger and become unpredictable. I wonder how the Court of The Dead will react when they find out that the direct disciple of one of the higher-ups of the Court of The Dead was attacked.’

Hehe… this is going to be interesting. I wonder how big a fire this slight difference will cause. Even in the game, this never happened.

Ivo smiled involuntarily. The corners of his lips lifted slightly, causing Ivor to feel goosebumps all over his body.

‘This guy… he must be planning something. I must be careful not to fall into his trap again.’ Ivor frowned as he thought about what Ivo might be thinking and what information he would give.

His instincts told him to leave and not listen to what this guy was going to say. The warning was so strong that his body was unconsciously wrapped around the black shadow again. Even so, Ivor restrained himself and did not move from his spot.

He just had to determine whether the information this guy had was worth the trouble I had to do to be useful to Raven. If it is useful, then I can give this information to Raven and wait for his orders.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

If together with my master, I can solve any problem that exists. Ivor had this belief in his heart. He no longer wanted to act passively but would start to actively help Raven.

But who is Ivo? Is he a fool who doesn't know anything? No. He is a veteran player who has experienced a lot in Destiny. Especially when it comes to Ivor Ashen where he was once obsessed after this crazy bastard killed him, Ivor has no idea what he has done.

After the two of them used the Whisper of Shadow magic again, Ivor heard a whisper that seemed to be teasing him. “You know, I heard a rumor that the Court of The Dead is planning to attack White Snow Academy.”

“What? Wait, are you sure?” Ivor showed his eyes in disbelief. “Where did you hear this from?”

He asked not because he didn’t believe it. But because he knew about this. Raven had told him and this was the reason why he, Haris, and Elena were in Ernest City.

The three of them were brought by Raven as bodyguards who were also the people Raven trusted the most. But that was it. Raven never explained further and only gave a few small orders without making any big moves.

Ivor became very curious and wanted to ask Ivo about this but he held himself back. If he experienced something like before and the payment he had to pay was beyond what he could do, then at this point, he was an idiot.

But… damn. This guy, how much does he know?

“I have my own ways and it’s none of your business to know. No need to show such a face.”

“Is that all? No, there must be something bigger.”

“Of course,” Ivo replied. What you are about to hear now will start something that might be so crazy.

“I don’t know what the reason is for the Court of The Dead to attack the White Snow Academy, so I can’t tell you about it. But I do know one thing, he is here.”

“Who?”

“Bernard Lurk. You must know about that person, right?”

Bernard Lurk?! Of course, I know about that bastard. He is the madman who almost killed me in the past. The damned bastard who chases death like a firefly flying towards a fire…

That person is here?

Ivor almost exploded but immediately held back his anger. He held back with all he had but couldn’t control the expression he showed.

His face was red with so much anger. His hands seemed ready to kill the person called Bernard Lurk. Ivor didn’t care how Ivo knew the relationship between Raven and Bernard Lurk, No… He didn’t care.

His hatred for that person had become something so blind. In this simple inn, the black shadow began to spread and climb further up Ivor's body. The shadow was almost like a living creature when someone saw it seemed to move on its own.

'Born from Shadow. If I'm not mistaken, that's the name of the talent he has, right?' Ivo who saw the phenomenon in front of him was a little impressed.

Coupled with him having the Heart of Pure Shadow, Ivor's ability to control shadows must be very impressive. Especially when he lives in the best place to teach about shadows and assassination.

Is Ivor a genius?

Of course. He is the only son of the shadow king. Someone who is at the peak of assassination. As his son, this person is a genius comparable to Veronica although slightly inferior to Raven.

Raven is a special case. If this was before he regressed, then that person was at most slightly inferior to Veronica before fully awakening the eye of truth. And he can only be comparable to Veronica when he awakens the eye.

'He is such a strong person even though his weakness is so obvious.' Ivo laughed in his head.

"So, are you interested in this?"

Ivor nodded. He pulled out the dagger in his hand and coated it with a black shadow. “Tell me, how much do you know about him.”

“Not much,” Ivo replied while sipping his milkshake until it was finished. From the glass cup, a red cherry was at the bottom. Ivo looked at the red cherry and looked at Ivor.

“I don’t know what he did but it must have something to do with Raven. Maybe he wants to chase Raven and fight to the death with him again. Just like how he held you captive back then.”

“Shut up!!!” Ivor shouted unconsciously. He couldn’t hold back his anger. Remembering the past where he had just been saved by Raven, it brought back rotten memories that he didn’t want to remember.

“Just tell me, how much is the price to know where that bastard is.”

“Not much. I just want a few platinum coins. Maybe around ten?”

“Huh? Are you playing with me?” Ivor frowned.

10 platinum coins was not a small amount. No, it was such a large sum that it was equivalent to that Bitch Rachel's pocket money for a week.

Asking for 10 coins, was too much even for him. It wasn't like he didn't have it. He currently had a small amount of savings of about 12 platinum coins and about 3000 gold coins.

If 1000 gold coins were about 1 platinum coin, then he had about 15 platinum coins. Was that a lot? Of course. For ordinary people, that amount was enough to live in luxury for years.

But for Ivor, this was emergency money that he didn’t even want to use. Even 15 platinum coins weren’t that much. This was a statement that would get him beaten up by many nobles in the Eternal Kingdom.

“Can’t it be less? 10 platinum coins, isn’t that too much?”

“Didn’t I say that I don’t want to negotiate? I know you have it so just give it to me. Or are you not even willing to spend a few small coins for your master?” Ivor said with a straight face.

Saying 10 platinum coins were a few small coins, Even Ivor himself wanted to punch the face of the person in front of him. Bastard, did he really have no shame asking for something like this?

“Don’t look at me with that face. Didn’t I say it before?” Besides, no matter how you search or track Bernard Lurk, you will never find him. You can use 100 platinum coins to track him and you still won’t be able to see him.”

“10 platinum coins is a fair price for this information. If you really want it, pay now and I will tell you where he is.” Ivo said as he took a cherry and ate it.

It didn’t take long for Ivor to give in finally. He touched the iron bracelet on his hand and took out 10 platinum coins with unique engravings. He held the coins tightly in his hand.

“Tell me, how sure are you of your information? If you are lying…”

Ivo smiled faintly. Before he could finish his sentence, Ivo replied by releasing all the Mana from the crystal in his hand. Ivor was a little surprised when he saw with his mana sense how smooth the movement of Mana in the air seemed to flow without the slightest obstruction.

“I have my own way. You just need to look and all your doubts will be gone.”
