Chapter 15: First encounter with Veronica

Chapter 15: First encounter with Veronica

“Her wealth is at the point where she can surpass a rich merchant with just the pocket money she has. Furthermore, she has a very astute eye for money.”

She’s rich… Very, very rich.

Up until now, I don’t know what made her come to this place and take some of the coins in this place. She’s so rich that she made platinum coins the same as gold coins in this world.

“I don’t really care about things that can make the user feel someone’s emotions. What I need is money.”

The more the better.

The problem is…

“Stop where you are young man. The area ahead is a restricted area.” One of the second year students stopped Ivo. He held a white sword in his hand and blocked Ivo from entering.

"I'm just curious... what's happening out there?"

“It's none of your business. Go away and don’t interfere with the affairs of White Snow Academy.”

Ivo glanced inside and left the place. In a small alley where no one could see him, he leaned against the wall.

Everything in this place was fully guarded by the academy students. Although he barely saw any teachers or professors there.

“This is quite good. As long as they don’t have any professors or people in the second awakening stage, everything will go smoothly.”

“It seems that the sky is also on my side this time.”

The sky was clear without any clouds, the sun shining down on the entire place with its light. This condition was perfect for the magic he was going to use.

“Now, it’s time to use you.” Ivo took out a thin book that he brought with him. This was the book he got at the nameless alchemist’s grave.

One of the 3 magics listed in the book. Ivo activated the magic inside it.

High-level concealment magic, One as a Light.

The page containing the magic disappeared and the paper crumbled into nothing.

Instantly, his body disappeared under the light. Ivo couldn’t even see or feel his body anymore. The only thing left for him was the consciousness and thought that he still existed and his eyes that could still see.

Ivo looked at his body in the mirror of a flower shop near this place. What he saw was only the passing of people walking by. He didn’t see any reflection of his body there.

The feeling of not being able to feel his body or hands, Ivo could only see and think with his consciousness that was still working.

His body was still there but he couldn't feel it at all. This feeling should have been uncomfortable but Ivo ignored it and walked past the students of the White Snow Academy.

None of the people here could feel Ivo. Therefore, he walked leisurely to the place where the last inheritance was located.

"It should be here." Ivo turned his head and saw a large building sealed by an intermediate level magic. He couldn't see what the form of this barrier was but one important thing he felt was the cold feeling that bit his body when he was in front of the entrance to this building.

This must be the work of that woman.

When someone came from the building, Ivo took the opportunity and immediately entered. Inside, he saw a hallway that was already covered in moss and many of the furniture had been destroyed by fire. The glass and windows were covered by a black cloth and guarded by several students of the White Snow Academy.

What was more disturbing was the temperature in this room.

Cold…

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

The interior of this building… felt like it was on the outskirts of the northern plains of the continent.

The entire place was covered in a pool of water that alternated between frozen and liquid. There was also a chilling feeling that he felt when he was in this room.

I really can’t use magic right now.

Ivo walked slowly while exploring the building that could be said to be quite large. Most of this building was destroyed but the walls were still very sturdy. Various kinds of burned and frozen objects could be seen around.

A little sunlight entered this building providing illumination. Ivo ignored most of this place because there was nothing valuable that he could take.

What he cared about was only the wealth of the Demon Alchemist in the form of platinum coins. Although he did not know where it was or where he kept this coin, one person in this place knew where the coin was.

While walking, he saw one person with the number 4 on his arm. A fourth-year student stood holding a sword in his hand. He was guarding a door behind which probably led to where the inheritance was.

"It seems they are still not finished. I still have time."

Inside the room, Veronica casually sat on a throne made of ice crystals. Her eyes were cold and expressionless as she looked at the dome in front of her. For the past day, she had been attacking the dome non-stop.

Her eyes could clearly see that all of those attacks had greatly weakened the protective dome in front of her.

“Wow… she really is amazing.” Rachel couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

For the past day, she simply couldn’t believe that someone could use intermediate magic so casually without having to recover first.

“No, how much mana does she have? No, more than that… is this even possible? She’s only a first-stage Awakener. But to achieve what a second-stage Awakener Magician can do…”

“This is like…”

Raven Astrea.

There was only one person she knew who could do the same thing as Veronica did. It was her childhood friend who was so amazing.

Although slightly inferior, Veronica was almost on par with what Raven could do.

Although the two were different, Raven was praised as an unparalleled genius of the kingdom. He was a man who defeated someone who was in the first awakening stage when he was only 12 years old.

An unrivaled swordsmanship genius.

His swordsmanship was said to have reached extreme perfection. There was nothing they could teach him in the kingdom and no teacher was worthy of teaching them here.

Now, there was a monster just like Raven right in front of her.

If Raven was so amazing in swordsmanship, Veronica was unmatched in magic.

Veronica pointed the Staff in her hand towards the dome. The tip of the staff touched the thin membrane that was blocking them from the inheritance behind this place.

Crak. Crakk… Crack…

With a gentle touch, a current of mana flowed and destroyed the dome that was already filled with cracks. No flames erupted nor did the room turn into a sea of flames.

The space behind the dome was revealed. A long dining table with human heads on each seat. Above the dining table, a chandelier made of 7-colored crystals seemed to shine on each of the heads.

Those who saw it would find each head showing a different expression.

Angry, scared, anxious, happy, sad, and envious.

Veronica didn’t care about this. She expressionlessly stared at a pair of glasses worn by an intact corpse sitting on a black chair.

Rachel who saw the scene in front of her could only close her mouth. There was no stench from the corpse but she forcibly closed her mouth.

“Are you surprised? This is the dark side of Magicians who can’t hold back their curiosity.” Veronica’s flat voice could be heard.

“Especially Alchemists. They are creatures who know no limits once they find something that catches their attention.”

“I’m not like them. No, I will never be like this cruel alchemist.”

“...”

Veronica only glanced at Rachel. She immediately lost interest and didn’t speak further.

Her hand was about to reach for the glasses on the alchemist’s corpse.

Suddenly…

Khuk…

A very hard fist hit Rachel’s stomach. A current of mana formed in Ivo’s palm as he slammed it into the chest of the poor woman lying on the floor.

This punch wasn’t enough to kill someone, but it was enough to make the one hit by this blow faint on the ground. There were probably some broken and cracked ribs and injured internal organs.

Judging from the blood flowing from her mouth, Rachel most likely suffered bleeding and injuries to her internal organs.

Yeah… it’s not my business to care about Rachel. She has such a great Cheat with her and will be cured even before the White Snow Academy entrance exam.

Raven will take care of it.

The Regressor was madly in love with Rachel to the point where he would kill anyone who dared to hurt her. Therefore, worrying about this woman was quite pointless.

“Who are you?” Veronica asked coldly as she blasted her powerful mana into the surroundings. Under such a powerful current of mana, Ivo didn’t move an inch. He simply grabbed a small pouch from Rachel’s pocket.

When the pouch touched Ivo’s hand, the magic that enveloped his body immediately took effect on the pouch. Even so, he could feel a slight weight from the pouch.

After all his business was done, his gaze turned to the blue-haired woman sitting on the ice throne. Her face was cold without the slightest expression even though the beauty she had was so radiant which was beautified by her blue eyes that looked like a snow crystal.

Veronica could vaguely feel the person in front of her. Although she couldn't see clearly as if this person's body was like a light, she could see a little of Ivo's body shape.

"Me...? You don't need to know who I am." Ivo ignored Veronica who was in front of him and walked away.

Veronica raised her staff and cast magic that formed an ice wall, isolating this room from the rest.

Tsk... I really don't want to fight this woman.

Ivo clicked his tongue as he looked at Veronica.
