Chapter 20: Ivor Ashen, the beginning of his downfall

“Pathetic rat? Do you know who I am?” Ivor shouted. His voice seemed so loud but the room was surrounded by soundproofing magic. Therefore, no sound could even come out of this room.

“I know. You are the son of the shadow king. A cowardly rat who ran away from home because he didn’t dare to continue the Legacy of the King of Assassins.”

“If you’re not a pitiful rat, what else should I call you.”

Ivor fell silent and his body trembled violently when he heard Ivo’s words. The words he said, His heart slowly shattered under those words.

A coward who ran away from his home…

“Do these eyes remind you of someone? The King of Assassins or commonly called the King of Shadows also has the same eyes, right?”

Ivo just smiled weakly as he blinked his eyes. In an instant, the illusion magic that Ivor had planted had disappeared and the room returned to normal. He took a chair and sat in front of Ivor.

“First, let’s seal your mana senses.”

“W-what are you trying to do?”

This time, Ivor asked in fear. His mouth trembled violently as Ivo’s palm was on his head.

The flow of mana flowed through his hand straight to his head through his palm. Blue lines slowly penetrated into his head.

“Ugh… AGHHHHH…..” Ivor screamed loudly, but Ivo didn’t care.

‘Again, this is still not enough’ The flow of mana flowed faster and formed more blue threads that penetrated Ivor’s head and made his head slowly bleed.

Gradually the black pupils slowly changed into the eyes of a dead person. Ivor did not remain still and listlessly stared at the empty air without being able to feel any Mana in the air or in his body.

“There is a saying that without the Mana Sense, trying to operate Mana is like walking on a tightrope with blind eyes, unable to hear, and unable to feel. Do you know that?”

“...” Ivor was silent and did not answer.

When the chains on his body slowly disappeared, Ivor fell without trying to get back up.

His eyes narrowed slightly when he saw the disappearing chains.

In the past, the same chain had saved him and he was quite stupid at that time. Instead of running away or immediately finishing Ivor off, he instead mocked and taunted Ivor with a big laugh on his face.

The result was a traumatic experience when he had to feel it.

‘Let the past be the past. Now what should I do with this person?’

“I could just hand him over to the Court of The Dead. Veibel would definitely accept him gladly. But…”

“That wouldn’t be fun, would it?” Ivo smiled slightly, while Ivor who was still conscious was shaking violently.

Before Ivo could continue his words, Ivor slowly got up with difficulty. His mouth trembled as he tried to say something.

“Please… don’t… touch him. He… is my savior.” Ivor finally managed to get up before falling back to the ground.

His injuries weren’t serious. The problem was the foreign Mana flowing inside his body and the sealed Mana Sense. Especially the latter, even when his strength had recovered to the first awakening stage, Ivor still didn’t dare to move.

“Savior? Oh right.” Ivo remembered as he clapped his hands. “That’s right, you were saved by Raven when you crossed the Astrea family’s land. He was your savior that you were so proud of and even refused to hand you back to the king of assassins.”

“Not only that, he was also the one who received the punishment from the king of assassins in your place. Am I right?”

“How… did you know?” Ivor stepped back a little when he heard that.

Because you told me. Ivo answered in his head while looking at Ivor who was still scared.

“Oh, don’t be such a coward now. You know that the punch didn’t hurt. All those punches I did were to inject foreign mana into your body. I didn’t intend to kill you from the start.”

“I know so many things that you wouldn’t believe me if I told you. So there’s no need to bother asking unnecessary questions.”

“Then, what do you want?”

“Ah, I’m glad you’re quick to respond to this.” Ivo smiled.

Honestly, what he was doing right now would cause Raven a big problem. Even though he is sometimes with the regressor in the game, Ivo doesn't really care if something goes wrong or if the Regressor targets him.

Since it had happened a few times in the past when he was in the game, Ivo didn’t really care about it. He would just think of it as a fun roleplay while playing.

But now that the damn Regressor was targeting him in the real world, Ivo had to retaliate a little.

And he had the right person to do it.

“You must have known that I was the mastermind behind the one who caused Raven to fail when he tried to persuade that Zombie, right?”

“Yes. Because the one who attacked Rachel and was involved in the devil’s legacy is the same one who was involved in the Court of The Death.”

Ivo gave a thumbs up to Ivor’s words. “Now things are easier. I have a rough idea of what happened, you know. Because I told Veibel Ernest about it myself.”

“You must have been overwhelmed when you fought Veibel. That’s only natural since you were only in the first awakening stage. Fighting someone in the second awakening stage and still alive, you’re truly amazing.”

Ivo gave a round of applause while remembering how Ivor was still alive even after fighting Veibel.

“Even so, the Court of The Death doesn’t only have one person in the second awakening stage, right? They have other Shamans who have the same strength as Veibel. Not only that, there are also the Arbiters who once they make a move, you can forget about Raven’s life.”

“Needless to say if the guardian of the Land of The Death makes a move, everything Raven has built up to this point, he will immediately lose it all. So do one thing for me and I'll let him live, how about that?”

Ivor felt his heart breaking even more when he heard the words that came out of the mouth of the man in front of him.

He knew that there would be big trouble when going against the Court of The Death. He had only followed Raven without thinking much about this matter. He thought that Raven could handle everything perfectly that’s why he trusted him so much.

Now that Raven’s decision was about to bite him, Ivor could only hold himself back from silencing Ivo. If the man in front of him still had tricks up his sleeve and he failed to kill him, Raven would die with just one word from this man.

This was a gamble he didn’t dare to take. But this was putting his life in this man’s hands and betraying Raven, Ivor couldn’t accept it either.

Between one or two things, Ivor paused for a moment and did not notice Ivo who was already behind him.

He opened the window and jumped into the air. His body floated under the Levitation magic that brought him down without any injuries.

Instantly, Ivo started running. He did not look back or look to the side.

“That place can only withstand one attack once. After the offer I made, there is only one answer Ivor will give.”

Ivo did not even need to look back. He ran at full speed while disappearing among the crowd.

Even so, Ivor continued to chase with the determination that he would die now.

And so he was. This was the decision he made. While believing that Ivo knew something that he or even Raven did not know, an anomaly interfered and made a mess of the plans made by Raven, his master.

Die! He must die and I must die right then.

No one is allowed to disturb or endanger My Lord. I owe him my life and I will repay him with my life now.

Ivor continued to chase the man in the crowd. Although his mana senses were sealed, and he could not use magic energy or exert any abilities at all, he still had one definite advantage over him.

That was his physical strength.

“Hahahaha… as expected, even though you are a coward, you are not a pushover.” Ivor laughed as he ran and continued to blend in with the crowd.

He nimbly avoided the people walking by. Ivor, who was a skilled assassin, also did not make the slightest mistake.

However, he had to admit that he was a little slower than usual because of the terrible pain. He also had to continue to protect his vital points with both hands.

“Ugh…”

A needle shot out and flew between the gaps of the people walking by. Ivor blocked the needle with his hand while enduring the slight pain.

“Let’s see how long he can last.”

Without turning his head, Ivo continued to run and Ivor continued to chase.

Another needle formed and stabbed Ivor’s arm. No blood came out. The wound wasn't deep enough but it was enough to prevent Ivor from approaching.

Ivo turned and entered the alley. His eyes kept looking forward without even looking back. No, he didn't even need to do that. From the beginning, the position between the two of them had always been clearly imprinted in his head.

Low-level detection magic, Sonar.

When a small wave of magical energy flows and hits any object, the position of that object will be sensed by the magic user.

Although it was very blurry and impossible to distinguish objects due to the limitations of low-level magic, Ivo could clearly feel an object running toward him very quickly.

Now, the object was right behind him.

Ivo turned around and pushed away the hand that was aimed at him. While retreating and moving away, Ivo jumped and floated in the air.

His body slowly descended but in such a slow time that it was as if he was almost standing on air.

Even so, Ivor saw hope at this moment. With a dagger in his hand, Ivor threw away the black robe he was wearing. He revealed a body full of wounds and sword slashes.

“Now, you are trapped. Today, we will both die here.”
