Chapter 10: A coward who fears death.

In this place, there were 3 legacies left behind by the Alchemist buried here.

The 3 legacies were currently floating in front of him surrounded by a transparent bubble.

A book, 5 crystals the size of tennis balls, and a bag of money.

The book in his hand was not included in the inheritance. According to him, this book was not worthy of being a legacy that could be left to his heir. It was written at the end of the book that he wanted to burn this book before his death but changed his mind.

Although the contents of this book were failure after failure, although the contents of this book were something meaningless, all of the contents of this book were part of the life of the alchemist.

While holding the alchemist's book tightly, Ivo touched the bubble that contained a bag of gold coins.

Plop…

“There shouldn't be anything different about this thing. Yep, 100 gold coins. This should be enough for me to eat to my heart's content. Besides, there are still 2 other legacies that I have to take. One from the Swordsman, and one from the Creator of those magical tools.”

Ivo touched the second bubble that contained the same 5 crystals as the one he had obtained before. With these 5 crystals, the ticket to enter the White Snow Academy could be said to be in hand.

And lastly…

Ivo held another book. This time, the book felt very light and looked ordinary, but the contents inside were what Ivo needed.

No, more precisely, the contents inside were what players needed if they wanted to enter the White Snow Academy even if they didn’t have the ability of parallel mana processing.

If they could somehow escape while fighting the mud monster, this magic book was the most crucial item of this inheritance.

This was the second alternative that players could use. Inside, there were 3 important spells that could be used as long as someone activated them. All three were high-level spells that shouldn’t be accessible to the status they had at the start of the game.

These 3 spells were neither offensive nor defensive.

Ivo opened the very thin book with only 3 pages in it.

“Nothing has changed. Everything is the same as before. High-level concealment magic, spatial teleportation magic, and support magic. As long as I have these 3 magics, surviving until the end of the White Snow Academy entrance exam is very possible.”

“Unless there are any unexpected events… no, as long as the interfering variables are not too big, there will be no problem.”

Although these magics are very useful, the problem is that they can only be used once. Once used, this piece of paper will be completely burnt.

“It’s time to go back. I’ve already obtained everything I need in this place.”

Speaking of which, he should be fine, right?

***

“Bastard… you dare to protect those who transgressed their deaths?”

“Kid, do you want to make the entire Land of The Dead your enemy?!”

Veibel shouted as he pressed the slash wound on his chest. His eyes looked with great anger at the young man in front of him.

Unauthorized usage: this narrative is on Amazon without the author's consent. Report any sightings.

The horse he summoned had been crushed under the young man’s feet and one of his arms was missing flesh and blood. Traces of golden Mana could be seen from Veibel’s arm.

“I say it again, Veibel Ernest. Get out of this place and I won’t destroy you.”

“Destroy me? Haha…Ahahahaha… then come and kill me. What are you waiting for? Kill me and feel the wrath of the Court of The Death. Kill me and feel the consequences of your actions!!!”

Amidst his screams, a huge mana pressure engulfed the entire mansion where the two were fighting. 3 large magic circles covered the entire mansion but couldn’t penetrate a golden barrier that surrounded the outermost part of the mansion.

Call of Dead.

Evil spirits whisper

Mana Channeling.

3 spells were cast simultaneously the magic energy destroyed almost all the buildings around it.

A human who transgressed death, No… he couldn’t be called a human anymore. He was a Zombie who was so desperate and couldn’t accept his time was almost up. Someone who was afraid of death and chose to turn into a Zombie.

But when Rumanoff saw the magic circle above his head, he could only let out a helpless laugh. He turned his gaze to the young man in front of him who was standing with a sword in his hand.

His sharp eyes were filled with pure determination, cold and expressionless eyes after cutting off the hand of one of the Court of The Dead shamans.

He seemed fearless even in front of the Court of the Dead. It could be seen from the current of mana that was like a fierce wave raging in the air. Golden mana flowed throughout his body and enveloped the sword he used to slash and destroy the Shaman Horse in front of him.

Seeing even such a young man standing in front of him and protecting him… guilt rose in his rotting heart.

“Raven… you better get out of this place. There is no need to destroy your future protecting a failure like me.”

“No, Mr. Rumanoff. I have promised to help you regain your body and regain the life you once had. I have promised and I will keep it.”

“This is the oath I made. To complete all the promises I have made. This is an oath that I must fulfill even if my life is in danger.”

“So rest assured. I will take care of this matter.” Raven smiled as he raised the sword in his hand.

Mr. Rumanoff who saw the direction and shape of Raven’s mana movement flinched slightly. An inexplicable chill was felt under his rotting body.

“Why…”

With just one glance, he knew what Raven was trying to do. Even when his eyes had rotted and he could no longer see, relying only on the magical senses he had during his life, he could feel what Raven was trying to do.

From the intent emitted by his eyes, 3 slashes would end all of this.

One slash, a golden line cut through the evil spirit’s whispering magic circle.

The second slash, the Mana Channeling magic circle was destroyed.

Raven aimed the third slash towards Veibel who was ready to die. His face was full of smiles as he almost finished casting the Call of Dead magic.

As he was about to slash the person, his hand was pulled by someone.

“You don’t have to sacrifice your future to this pitiful old man. I don’t know why you insist on this, but you can’t make enemies with the Court of The Dead.”

Rumanoff drew the sword at his waist and slashed vertically forward. A spatial rift formed and Raven felt all of his magical energy being sealed by the trace of sword energy that was engraved deep inside his heart.

“Wait… don’t,” Raven shouted as he looked at the smile on Rumanoff’s Zombie face. Black blood flowed from his mouth and his empty eye sockets.

“I left my trace and understanding of swordsmanship deep inside your heart.”

“I don’t know what your goal is, but I hope it can help you in achieving your goal.”

He pushed Raven into the spatial rift and disappeared from there. Even the barrier that Raven had previously set up did not hinder how to move through the spatial rift.

Raven was about to scream but his voice disappeared as his body entered the spatial rift and the rift closed right after Raven’s body entered completely.

“In the end, the younger generation will surpass us old ones. Isn’t that right… Shaman?”

“I spent my entire life searching for the best way of the sword. Spending all the time I had to swing the sword. After hundreds of years… everything feels in vain.”

I am just a loser who fears my fate.

A coward who fears death.

“Do I deserve a peaceful death?”

Veibel looked at the zombie in front of him. This time, it wasn't a look of disgust and anger that appeared on his face, but a slight smile.

“You deserve it.”

Ah…

Rumanoff smiled faintly when he heard that. When the Call of Death magic casting ended, a strong feeling of drowsiness attacked him.

In the past, he would use all means to force himself to stay awake. Once he fell asleep after the death transgression, he would truly die.

But now… It felt completely different.

“It feels calming.” Rumanoff slowly closed his eyes and his body disintegrated into dust that scattered in the air.

The sword he used stuck into the floor.

After hundreds of years, no one knew him anymore. Now he also died without anyone knowing him.

Maybe the young man with the golden aura knew about him, but he couldn't risk his life just to save a coward like me.

I hope my legacy helps you.

“...”

Veibel prayed silently. When he opened his eyes the sun had already set and night had fallen.
