Chapter V- The Horrid Truth

Chapter V- The Horrid Truth

After a while, my father explained why he had done what he did to me. His adopted brother, Satan, and the rest of the lords of hell, Lucifer, Mammon, Beezelbulb, and Asmodeus, all overshadowed him. Since their powers were so much greater than his. His parents also overlooked him, practically leaving him forgotten. By the time Ebony was four he finally had someone who noticed him. Every time he came for a meeting with the other lords she was always the first person he saw. She was his pride and joy. She was, as he said “as unique and delicate as a snowflake” when she was little. But soon after this, when Ebony was of the right age, Lucifer began to get all the fame once more. When he had put her through the trials, she was unbeatable, a natural warrior. But that also made her emotions even more delicate and unstable. He had watched the trials in the royal sitting area at her request. When he saw her fighting he was terrified of her abilities but at the same time, he was proud of her because she had combined the spells he taught her with her own unique abilities, also making her a delight to watch to the bystanders. That was on top of the fact that she was fighting with her fists and claws and that her weapon of choice turned out to be the one weapon feared by demons and angels alike. He explained also that later on, the things he had done, such as murdering my mother, causing the 2043 genocide of thousands of wolves, and many other things, were only to be noticed, to gain recognization like the others but most of all, to protect Ebony. Then he had told me that the Genocide was for Ebony, the wolf that had blinded her was the Leader of the pack that had been slaughtered. My father also mentioned that he knew that I had fallen in love with Ebony, so he started sending me on missions with the best of the Guardians he had at his disposal. I felt extremely guilty, he had done all of this for nearly the same reason I have, I missed Ebony so dearly much, and so did he, and we both wanted what was best for her. She turned out almost ten times better than either of us could have anticipated, earning her right as her father’s heir (Which not many royals don’t. Only her and her father have that I know of.). My father finished his explanation and encouraged me to go and get some rest, but I hesitated. “I will keep her safe… you have nothing to worry about…” He said, so I disappeared.
