Planning One Last Trip!

"Hay you kids. I am glad to see that you still come out to this old tree and sit with me for some time. That you still have the spark in your eyes that shows you care. It means a lot to this old man."

"I have told you that there were places that I did not dare to go in my youth when I was filled with overconfidence. I considered it to dangerious and to venture there was almost certin death."

"Well I have decided to go out into the world one last time and see what is out there. Over horizons that I never saw. To places where gods and devils fear to tread. To the places that just say 'here be dragons' and not much else. To Adventure once more!"

"The trip will take some planning and a lot of preparation to get right but I feel that it is a journey that I need to undertake. How could I not dare fate in my last years on this earth. How could I not try!"

"One last trip to take but until then I shall share my storys with you everyday."

I once knew an old sea dog named Patches. Well that is what everyone called him anyway. Ol' Patches never served in any wars but he was a smuggler in The Great War. He carried supplies across the most dangerious waters to those that needed them. It was during this war that he made his name known.

If you needed something transported across the Atlantic or Pacific you went to Patches. Supplies or documents it did not matter. He could get it from port to port and no one could ever catch him.

When WWII started he ended up at Dunkirk. Though he would never tell you this unless he was wasted he saved many lives that day. It wasn't something that he liked to brag about or promote but he did it. Sailed through those hostile waters and when I asked about it he told me that sometimes there is the fight that you fight because it is the only one that you can win, and sometimes you fight because you have to fight it regardless.

Everyone that went to help those soldiers knew that they could be sunk and killed just the same as any other. They went anyway because it was the fight that needed to be fought. They needed help and he could lend them a hand.

For him that was enough to risk death.
