Chapter 17: First Mission Part IV

Chapter 17: First Mission Part IV

After three months of gathering intel, they were now able to get a schedule of how the guards change shifts, as well as any VIPs going in and out of the building.

All of them are now inside Exeo's room, holding up a meeting to execute their plan tonight. Exeo said, "We were now able to get a lead on who's currently running the slave market in this area. His name is Arthur Louser, one of the prominent figures in Uryo. It would be quite difficult if we expose ourselves, so, as always, use the accessories that were given to you by Dr. Lewis. Also, as Val and Bo gathered with regard to the guard shift change, it usually happens early in the morning. So, we will start to infiltrate the area tomorrow. Also, the bastard will also hold out a Slave auction tomorrow at 8 pm. So, one, someone will need to infiltrate and act as a guard, two, an elite that will sell a slave, and three, as a slave."

Everyone was quiet, they just waited for Exeo to continue. Looking at them one by one, he said, "Riggs, you will infiltrate as one of the guards, Em and Bo as sellers, and Val, as a slave."

Val raised his hand and said, "Since this is a slave auction, it would not be easy to attend this auction. Do you have one of their invitations?"

Ember and Exeo showed him a cold expression and, Exeo said, "Don't worry about that, we got one, we got it from certain people who will never see the light of day again.", this made Bo and Riggs flinched at that. It means that they have gotten an invitation and that they have killed them.

Val just nodded, satisfied with his brother's answer.

And so, another day has passed, and it's time to execute the mission. Riggs went out early for the shift change as assigned to him, so, they just have to wait for the updates from time to time.

Nothing has happened so far, and soon, the time for the slave auction will soon begin.

Bo and Ember who had disguised themselves as sellers for the event, walked into the main hallway, with a very big metal box behind being dragged by a guard from the building.

Ember is dressed in a white tuxedo, with his hair in a messy bun, while Bo is in a black tuxedo, with a half-up pony.

When they entered the main hall, they were greeted by Arthur Louser, a man in his 40s, wearing a red tuxedo, not a looker.

Arthur walked towards them and said to Ember, "Good evening Mr. Drith. I am glad that you were able to join my event.", he said with a smile, while offering to shake his hands.

Ember clenched his jaw slightly as if holding back, looked down at the hand in front of him for a few seconds with an icy stare, then looked back up at the man in front of him. Then greeted him with a smile that didn't even reach his eyes, shaking his hands.

"Thank you for the invitation. I am glad that I was able to attend, Mr. Louser. I was so desperate, glad that I had heard of you.", still smiling, while Bo was just listening to their conversation, and glancing at them from time to time, painting a stoic face.

This was also noticed by Arthur, who asked, "You brought company. Who is this young man beside you?", and looked at Bo up and down with a slightly perverted expression, which made Bo frown.

Ember was getting his blood boil, his veins are slowly showing on his face, but still held his composure.

'This guy can't just keep that expression to himself.'

He replied with a forceful smile, "Apologies for my rudeness. Let me introduce you, this is my brother.", and leaned slightly, putting his left arm on Bo's shoulder.

"Oh! Hmmm, now that I look at it, you both look definitely the same, I apologize, Mr. Drith.", bowing slightly. He continued, "Let's not keep waiting for our guests this time Mr. Drith, we will start the auction. Although, I have not seen yet the slave you're offering, I think I can trust you on this.", and looked at him with a slight smile.

"Surely, you will not be disappointed, Mr. Louser."

Soon all three of them were guided to the main hall, while the big metal box was being pushed towards the backstage.

On the other hand, inside the metal box, a young man, with nothing on top, and just wearing brown tattered pants, is currently chained. He has long flowing black hair, with green eyes. He's none other than Val, who's assigned to be the slave for the auction.

When he heard that he was no longer being moved, it was at this time he heard Bo say from his in-ear earpiece that the auction will now start.

While Bo and Ember are in the main hall, Riggs who was assigned as a guard, heard Val say 'Find a way to come backstage, Riggs'. He didn't answer Val as there was another guard with him.

Riggs sighed inwardly and thought, 'Let's fake it till we make it.'

"Uugghhh it hurts!", while Riggs was holding his stomach, slightly bending down.

"Sir, please, c-can I excuse myself?! I-I couldn't hold it in any longer!", with fake trembling of his legs, and a fake pained expression, looking at the guard.

The other guard was shocked, and coughed, "Go! But be quick! We are dead if we ever leave our posts!", and as soon as he said that, Riggs ran like his life was on the line and went towards the backdoor.

The guard just thought, 'Poor guy.', and just shook his head and stood alert, waiting for Riggs to come back.

Riggs who had gone through the backdoor, ran towards the backstage with his wind ability. There were no guards which shows how lax their security is. When he saw the big metal box, he stopped and knocked thrice, and a reply of three knocks was heard from inside. The big metal box was of course made by Dr. Lewis and when Riggs said that he is in front of the box, there was a click sound that can be heard. It slowly opened and Val walked out of it.

Since it may take a while before Val's turn, they decided to go down to the basement to free the civilians that were captured.

Riggs relayed to Val that no guards were in the hallway when he was going in, so they went downstairs. When they reached downstairs, Riggs was the one who almost puked from the nasty and foul stench that greeted his nose.

Val stopped in the middle and used his Void ability to unlock all the cells. He raised his right hand, and in an instant, a small ball of black sphere appeared in all of the padlocks of the cells. He willed in his mind 'Deleo' and the padlocks on all cells were gone.

Val turned around and told Riggs, "Open all the cells, and", he breathed in, and said in a loud voice, "All of you! You are free! Run away from here!".

The people inside the cells were startled and hesitant at first, but when one man stood up and came running out of the cell, and thanked the young man, all the other people ran out.

Val who has been standing still, told Riggs to knock out all the guards outside which Riggs nodded in return.

When Riggs was gone, Val was about to walk when he heard something. He stopped in his tracks and turned around. He heard a cry coming from the end of the cell, he frowned and walked towards it. When he reached the end of the cell, he saw two kids, one was lying down facing upward while the other guy was crying beside him.

His veins are bulging in his face at the sight he saw. He could see the boy that was lying down had wounds all over, and what was worse was one of his legs as been cut off. There was some fresh and dried blood all over the floor

His eyes wandered inside the cell, and his gaze stopped at a dead body lying on the hard cold floor.

'Seems like this boy was dead recently.'

The dead body is not bloated, some fresh and dried blood pooled all around the body, which means it's just been a few hours since he'd been dead.

He walked inside the cell and stood in front to make the boy notice his presence. The boy has a small build, almost skin and bones, which obviously stunted his growth. The boy flinched and looked up, with tears on his scared face, he said in a trembling voice, "I-is it m-my turn, s-sir?"

This shocked Val, and shook his head, he replied in a gentle voice and bent down on one knee, "I am sorry about him. Everyone else here is free, you can now go."

With some hics and sniffs, the boy looked down at the boy lying down, and said in a trembling voice, "But I can't just leave my friend here. He..."

"He died because of me. He sacrificed himself just for me not to be chosen."

He cried and crouched down beside the dead boy.

Val closed his eyes, breathed in, and slowly let out a breath, ignoring the foul smell. He slowly opened his eyes and focused on the dead boy, he said, "That means, you live on. Don't let your friend's sacrifice go to waste."

The boy slowly sat up and said, "B-but...I wanted to bury my friend. I c-can't leave him here.", looking at Val seriously.

Val looked back at him at the boy's eye level, he said, "I'll call someone to have your friend rest in a nice place. But right now, you should go, this place will soon be no more.".

"But I don't have anywhere to go. We were just picked up from the streets here.", the boy replied, wiping his tears away.

Val slightly opened his mouth, but no words came out. He looked down, pained at hearing this. With a pained expression, he said with a slight smile, "Survive. That is what your friend would say, and...that's the only thing I can say. I can't bring you with me, it's too dangerous.", then he stood up, turned around and walked out of the cell.

The boy was left alone inside the cell, along with the dead body, but minutes later, Riggs came in. He said, "Kid, I'll bring you and your friend outside. Where would you want him buried so he can rest?"

The boy was still dazed, didn't respond but just stood up and listlessly walked out of the cell. Riggs followed him with his eyes but soon picked up the dead boy's body following the boy out.

When the boy reached the backdoor, he was shocked which made him stop in his tracks. He looked around and noticed that all the guards were lying down on the ground.

"This...", he muttered and was soon interrupted by Riggs who just arrived behind him, carrying the boy's dead friend. "This is not something you should see, sorry kid."

The boy just shook his head, Riggs went in front of the boy, and bent down, still carrying the body, he said, "Climb up. Let's have your friend have his rest.". He didn't turn his head but he could hear the boy behind him, sniffed, and slowly climbed up his back.

"Where to?"

"There's a small hill just outside of this town. If we can bury my friend there.", the boy said in a low voice.

Riggs just nodded and said 'Hold tight.' and floated with his wind ability and went towards where the boy was pointing at.

On the other hand, the slave auction still continued, unbeknownst to everyone, the slaves in the basement were already freed. Of course, with the exception of Bo, Ember, and Val currently inside the building.

The host announced, "And now! To the main event! This slave is a rare beauty, although the temperament is feisty, you can still do things you want! Let me introduce the slave for our auction!", and glanced backward, signaling to reveal Val in front of the stage.

When Val stepped onto the stage, everyone was awed by his appearance. Though his skin is blemish-free, his eyes show off being disgusted, and with chains in both hands. When the man announced to bid, everyone shouted their lungs out just to get Val for themselves.

Ember and Bo who are currently sitting at the back, had very serious expressions on their faces. With this commotion, no one was prepared for what comes next.

Swiiiish!

A very long transparent blade made of ice, that is so thin and sharp that it can't be noticed not unless you look at it closely. Bo moved his hand slightly, slicing the heads of the participants.

In an instant, everyone that had bid, except for Arthur Louser, suddenly went quiet, including the announcer.

All of their expressions had horror faces, some were confused and all had their bodies slumped to the floor with several heads rolling here and there. A huge pool of blood is slowly being flooded inside the main hall, with blood covered on most of the chairs and into Arthur's back.

Arthur Louser, who was currently sitting in front, panicked and soon his face showed horror, stood up and looked around. He saw Bo and Ember sitting as if nothing had happened.

Then, his face turned with an angry expression, he shouted, "YOU!!! WHO ARE YOU, PEOPLE!!!"

Ember, who was sitting with crossed legs, said, "An insect like you does not deserve to know us.", he said in a cold and menacing voice while looking down at him.

Arthur gritted his teeth and was about to turn around when suddenly, he got the chills coming from behind. Val who is now behind him, said in a low cold voice, leaning towards near his ear, "Where are you going?"

Arthur trembled, slowly turned around, and saw red eyes glowing. He stumbled and fell backward, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

"I-I, p-please have mercy! I-I can give you what you want!"

He bent down on all fours, bowing and kneeling on Val. Val looked down at him, and bent down on one knee, he said, "What could you exactly give me, other than your life?"

While still bowing down, he trembled at what Val had said, he looked up, and fear is shown on his face upon seeing Val. Val is now slowly being surrounded by black mist, with red eyes still glowing that are looking down on him.

Arthur could no longer say anything he wanted to say, and suddenly, the only last thing he saw was the ceiling, then his body slumped on the floor.

Val used his Void ability to target Arthur's heart to disappear.

The hall went silent, with only four of them left. Ember stood up and walked toward where Val is standing. He looked down at Arthur's body and slashed his head with the thin thread, decapitating it. Ember also had the ability where he can create a very sturdy thin thread from his fingers.

Blood splattered on the floor and the head that rolled stopped in front of Val.

Val decided to pick up the head, lifting it up, and said, "Hmmm. This should be a good warning, isn't it?" looking at the rest of them.

This time, it was Exeo who replied from the earpiece, "Yes."

Little did they know that the door from the auction hall was slightly ajar, someone was standing outside, peaking inside, and had witnessed everything.
