Catching Up

After hours of turning HQ upside down with their pranks, Ember and Exeo felt the undeniable urge to stretch their muscles and shake off the stiffness that had settled in over their time away. Though their spirits had thrived during the pranks, nothing compared to the familiar burn of physical training, and they knew just the place to blow off some steam.

"Think they've upgraded our old gym?" Ember mused, grinning as he turned to his brother.

Exeo shrugged, a glint of anticipation in his eye. "Only one way to find out."

The two brothers made their way through HQ's corridors, catching the occasional wary glance from staff members who quickly stepped aside. With the clearance granted to them by Dr. Lewis, they headed straight for the exclusive training gym reserved for Team Unknown—a place where only the most elite could train, out of sight from the rest of HQ's personnel.

They reached the gym's imposing doors, where a sleek access panel awaited their codes. With a swipe and a quick scan, the doors slid open, revealing the state-of-the-art facility beyond.

The gym was quiet, bathed in the glow of lights reflecting off walls lined with the latest training equipment. The room was outfitted with reinforced mats, high-tech obstacle courses, weight benches, and even an advanced sparring simulator in the corner. Ember's eyes widened in approval, and he let out a low whistle.

"Well, they've certainly spared no expense," he remarked, giving a nod of appreciation.

Exeo's gaze swept over the room, noting the modifications. "Seems like HQ really wanted to make sure the team stayed sharp."

With a shared look of understanding, the two dropped their outer jackets and stepped onto the sparring mats, cracking their knuckles and stretching as they prepared to begin.

Ember shifted into a ready stance, a grin tugging at his lips. "Ready to see if you've still got it?"

Exeo smirked, his tone cool but teasing. "You should be the one worried, little brother. I might have picked up a few new tricks."

Without warning, Exeo lunged forward, his movements swift and fluid. Ember sidestepped, narrowly dodging Exeo's strike, then spun on his heel to retaliate with a sharp jab. The two moved like shadows, each countering the other with an effortless precision that spoke of years of training together.

The clash of their fists and the rapid shuffle of their feet echoed through the gym as they fell into the familiar rhythm of sparring. Exeo's strikes were calculated and precise, each one aimed with a cold efficiency that was his trademark, while Ember's movements were more fluid and unpredictable, his style a mixture of technique and instinct.

"Still too predictable," Ember taunted, ducking under a swing and retaliating with a sweeping kick aimed at Exeo's midsection.

Exeo blocked it with a swift pivot, his face calm and unruffled. "Says the one who always overextends," he shot back, twisting Ember's arm in a calculated lock that he quickly released before stepping back.

They continued sparring, each pushing the other's limits, their attacks and counters becoming faster, more intense. Both brothers moved with a lethal grace, their faces focused, eyes gleaming with the thrill of the fight.

As the Bellator brothers were fully immersed in their sparring, the gym doors slid open, revealing Bo, Riggs, and Fon, who had wandered over to get in some training themselves. They paused just inside the doorway, eyes widening as they took in the sight of the two redheads moving with practiced lethality, their movements synchronized like a well-oiled machine.

"Wow…" Fon whispered, his voice tinged with awe. "They make it look so… easy."

Riggs chuckled, crossing his arms as he leaned against the wall. "Guess it's true what they say—legends never lose their edge."

Bo nodded, a small smile on his face. "The older Bellators in action… It's been a while."

Unaware of their audience, Ember and Exeo continued to spar, their focus unbroken. Exeo launched a rapid series of strikes, each one faster than the last, pushing Ember back toward the edge of the mat. But just when it seemed Ember might be forced out of bounds, he twisted to the side and slipped behind Exeo, delivering a light tap to his shoulder.

Exeo halted, raising an eyebrow in mild amusement. "Cheap shot, Ember."

Ember grinned, stepping back with a mock bow. "In a real fight, you'd thank me for that."

Finally, they both noticed the presence of the younger members, standing by with a mix of admiration and amusement on their faces. Ember smirked, giving them a wave.

"Enjoying the show?" he asked, slightly out of breath but clearly pleased with the reaction.

Riggs laughed, pushing himself off the wall. "Can't say we get to see legends spar every day. Thought we'd get some training in, but it looks like you two are already way ahead."

Ember shot them a playful grin. "Well, don't let us stop you. I'd hate to think we scared you off the mats."

Bo exchanged a glance with Riggs and Fon, each of them clearly relishing the chance to observe the Bellator brothers up close. Bo shrugged, stepping onto the mat. "Mind if we join?"

Exeo nodded, giving a rare, approving smile. "Be our guests. It's been a while since we've had some fresh competition."

Within moments, Bo, Riggs, and Fon joined the Bellators on the sparring mats, each of them squaring off with one of the brothers. Bo took his place across from Exeo, while Riggs and Fon paired off with Ember, who grinned at the prospect of a two-on-one match.

Fon grinned, shifting into a ready stance. "Just remember, Ember, there's two of us and one of you."

Ember's grin only widened. "Well then, let's make it interesting."

The room buzzed with energy as the sparring began. Exeo and Bo moved with a calm intensity, each testing the other's speed and technique. Bo's movements were steady and powerful, with his Ice ability, a contrast to Exeo's swift, calculated strikes.

Meanwhile, Ember darted between Riggs and Fon, his movements quick and agile, dodging their ability attacks with a playful ease that bordered on infuriating.

"Come on, boys," Ember taunted, ducking under Fon's swing and sidestepping Riggs. "You're gonna have to do better than that."

Riggs smirked, adjusting his stance. "We're just warming up, sir."

The sparring continued, a blur of movement, sweat, and laughter as the team pushed each other to their limits.

For the younger members, it was an opportunity to learn, to witness the techniques and skills that had made the Bellators legends. For Ember and Exeo, it was a chance to reconnect with the team they'd built, to test the strength of the new generation.

As the session drew to a close, each of them was breathing heavily, grinning despite the exhaustion. They took a moment to catch their breath, exchanging nods of respect.

"Not bad," Exeo remarked, a rare glint of pride in his eyes as he looked at the team. "You've all come a long way."

Ember chuckled, clapping Riggs on the shoulder. "Just don't get too comfortable. We're back now, and the fun's just beginning."

Fon groaned playfully, glancing at Bo and Riggs. "I knew peace was too good to last."
