CHAPTER 41
It's been two days since I tried to heal the pup, but I'm still paying the price for my arrogance. It seems like I haven't suffered any permanent damage physically. At first, I couldn't even raise my arm on the first day, but I can now walk again after two days. The bad news is even after two days of rest and meditation; I still cannot accumulate mana at the normal speed. So usually, I could refill my mana in 5 to 6 hours, but now, even though two days have passed, I could only collect as little as 25 mana. There is definitely a tiny improvement in my mana accumulation because I was only able to accumulate ten mana on the first day, but on the second day, I was able to accumulate 15 mana.
I should not push my luck like this again; from now on, when I do experiments, I should think thousand times and then act. Berus seems to be getting better every day, he can now open his eyes, and today when I brought him food and water, he had the strength to get up and eat it. If we count the time I passed out after casting the spell, it's been three days for him, and it's normal for him to start recovering. I don't think he's out of danger yet, his body is beginning to get stronger, but I should cast a healing spell on him once more for him to fully recover.
This healing spell is not really powerful enough to cure diseases; Berus is still shaking and has a palpably higher body temperature than other pups. Which means his body is still fighting something. In the description of the spell, it clearly said that this was a spell that nourishes the body and strengthens the immune system. So he is most likely going to need a second booster shot.
…… 3 days later
It's been almost a week, and I've fully recovered physically. When I woke up this morning, I realized that my mana was full, but with a difference; My mana capacity was increased by ten, and now my max mana is 75. When I realized that I was recovering, I did physical training for 1 to 2 hours to relieve the rawness of my body. I then went to the sparring area and was met with even more angry looks than before. Rodrik must not have been idle all this time and praised me while slapping the squires with more hellish training. I could almost feel the punches they were throwing at me. After some thought, I decided not to spar today. Two days later, I had a spar with Wyland; during this time, I didn't want another injury.

So I decided to do fitness training instead of more strenuous physical activities, and today I also needed to put a healing spell on Berus. After 1 to 2 more hours of training, I went back to my room; I was exhausted and was going to rest for 4 to 5 hours after casting the spell, and if my mana collection had gone back to normal, my mana should have been full when I woke up. When I went to Berus, he opened his eyes and looked at me, but he seemed to want to go back to sleep right after.
In the last six days, the energy and activity of Berus's body seemed to be decreasing, but the color of the short hairs that covered his body seemed to have revived, and his fever was decreasing. I slowly reached towards him and placed my hand lightly on his chest.
"Medenvita (nourish and strengthen the body)."
My hand glowed greenish like the previous time, and a warm feeling enveloped me, but unlike the last time, I did not feel a great weakness right after. The only thing I can count as a side effect was my mana flowing like water. This spell cost me exactly 60 mana. I found this healing spell much easier to understand than fire element spells, perhaps because healing is better suited to a druid than burning. I think so because I could bring ball spells to level 2 in almost all elements, but I could not make any progress in the fireball.
It would not be right to call the level 2 ones a ball spell now; earth and ice spells are now shard spells. Especially earth magic was very deadly, as I expected; ice magic was not bad either. They both have a good point and a bad point. Ice may be more fragile, but it is cheaper than earth shard magic as it is worth ten mana, while earth shard spell is much more durable but more expensive at 15 mana. I don't have to think about adding a spin anymore; as soon as I cast both spells get a spin.
The situation is somewhat similar in the lightning and wind elements. I can use both at a distance now, but the effect is decreasing so much that they turn into a complete waste of mana, so I decided to turn both into melee touch spells. Maybe because I don't spend mana to direct both of them away, or because of their close range, these spells are much cheaper than the others; both cost five mana.
Last but not the least, I turned my water ball spell into a water jet; Of course, it's not strong enough to cut metal and will have difficulty penetrating even quality leather armor, but I think it shows promise. After creating a water ball, developing this spell was the easiest; I surrounded and pressured it with all my mana power. When it can't be compressed anymore, I create a small opening in the coating of the spell in the direction I want to send, and with this pressure, water comes out and almost cuts like a knife. When I used this spell on a big tree, it couldn't cut it, but it shattered its bark and made a big gash in the tree.
I can say that the biggest reason for my arrogance, which was the source of my attempt at healing magic, was that I was able to develop these spells two weeks ago.
YAWNN
All that training took its toll on me; now, I want to sleep. Let's see if my mana will be full tomorrow.
