CHAPTER 101

288 AC

When the remaining handful of Ironborns had retreated, a few of the brave villagers who had been watching us over the hills came slowly towards the village and approached me cautiously. When they got a little too close, Sith turned towards them and roared, and they immediately pulled back a little and called out from a distance.

"Who are you, my lord?"

"I am Sir Aermir Drasil, a knight of the North. I have come here to protect you from the wrath of the Ironborns for the sake of the Old Gods. Now my job is done, I have to go and save another village. Old Gods be with you farewell."

Sith started running slowly, and I was lost in the woods after a few seconds. Lyka was waiting for me there and said.

-Master, I want to fight alongside you.-

-I will take care to include you in the battles as soon as I have the opportunity.-

-Really! Thank you, master. I want to fight side by side with you.-

If her face had the ability to smile, I could have sworn Lyka was smiling right now. While I let Sith rest for 3-4 hours, Lyka and I kept running, the next village was about 50 KM north, and I didn't want to wait for Sith to rest. Lyka's pack was able to catch up with us when we approached the village. Lyka's pack of 35 wolves spread around the village, I learned from Poe that the ironborn ship would be here in about 15 minutes, and I warned the villagers about this. Within 10 minutes, the village was completely empty.

Again, I positioned myself in an excellent elevated place to hunt Ironborns like pheasants. When the Ironborns landed, I waited for them to enter the village a bit more and started shooting as I rained arrows. At the same time, Imu, Lyka, and her pack started to attack them from the sides. Almost all the arrows I fired hit their targets.

As the war got fiercer, Lyka began to lose pack members, but up to 30 Ironborns had died, and we had lost 5 of our 35 wolves. Lyka was fighting as she did on the training ground, but because her skin was pretty thick, thanks to mana in her body.

Even if I didn't give the warding wind buff, the arrows that would hit her body wouldn't hurt her, but if she was shot in the eye, it could be deadly. Her current fur and skin are so thick that someone with a strength below nine would not be able to injure her with a sword. But the blunt force would still hurt, so she always tried to dodge the strikes while biting arms and legs off.

Her bite was the strongest among my familiars, and she was able to break bones and rip an arm off without much effort. Berus had the second strongest bite, and Sith came third, but Sith had another weapon, her claws. They were strong enough to rip low-quality iron armor. She was able to disembowel someone with one swipe, and she could behead a person with one strike too.

As for Imu, he was as deadly as them because nobody expected to be struck from underground. Imu moved as if he were swimming underground and came to the feet of the Ironborns, then immediately bit their legs and escaped underground. The bitten person died in pain within 1-2 minutes.

At the same time, I was raining arrows at them and was using the obtedȳñes (conjure animals) spell. This one was able to conjure three wolves, and they looked no different than regular wolves, but after they died, they would turn into dust. Thanks to this spell, we only lost six wolves because I would send the conjured animal to the most dangerous location and pull all the enemies' attention.

Since the villagers had withdrawn to the other side of the hill, they weren't able to see the battle, so I could use the wolf as I wanted. After 5 minutes, there was not a single ironborn left. Lyka had taken several hits to her body, but four attacks managed to injure her. Two attacks came from axes, and the other two were from spears though the wounds weren't deep. They were just shallow flesh wounds, but many parts of her body were starting to bruise around the wounds because of the blunt force. I immediately started using Abra Ruklo (life bloom) to heal her.

After the battle was over, I buried the dead wolves and caught up with the villagers, and after clearly stating who had rescued them, I immediately continued on my way. I was able to ambush the Ironborns 3 more times up to the Sea Dragon point and kill almost all of them.

But realizing what had happened, the Ironborns had sent two ships on the third expedition, and we had to fight against 200 men. I lost almost all my wolves in this battle. I couldn't use magic as villagers were watching us, but when I lost the wolves, I withdrew Lyka and, using Sith as I did the first time, I hunted them down one by one with the mounted archery until they retreated.

Their pride couldn't take it, knowing the fact that there was only one man in front of them, and they didn't want to retreat. Of course, it didn't help much that I insulted them a lot. This way, I killed about 170 of them. Many had seen me lead wolves, and the news that I was a warg would reach many, but I couldn't let them know about my other spells. Not wanting to lose any more men, the Ironborns continued their way to Deepwood Motte without attacking the other two fishing villages.

At least before the war started, I made them lose close to 600 men. I set out for Deepwood Motte as soon as Sith could run and would have reached it on the morrow. Five days later, the Ironborns would have arrived. I learned from Erebus that the group heading toward Saltspear defeated the Flints and raided the place. Then they continued on their way, plundering the villages and towns by the river.

Barrowton reinforcement would be there around in a week and looking at the Ironborns' speed. They would be there around that time too. The main Stark army was still mustering at Winterfell. Lord Stark had sent 2000 reinforcement to the Deepwood Motte, but everything would be over by the time they arrived. Glovers had managed to muster 200 men in a week, and they only had 100 men at the ready. It was such a negligent on the part of Lord Glover. He might not be at the coast, but there is only a 30 km distance between the coast and Deepwood Motte.
