CHAPTER 119

289 AC

The Mormont men may not have fought the Ironborns this time, but Bear Island is regularly raided by "pirates," everyone knows those pirates are Ironborns, but when they raid, they either cover their faces or leave no one alive, so no one can prove it. All of them are blooded warriors, as the men of Mormont fight due to these raids. Even though they didn't fight this time, they always deserve to have fun at this modest feast. While I was lost in my thoughts, Dacey called out to her mother.

"Mother, can you tell us what happened when you saw the Druid?"

When the girls insisted a little more, Lady Mormont, who could not stand it, told what had happened. Dacey listened to the story, her eyes gleaming with curiosity.

...

"We wanted to go and help them too, but the Druid must have been injured because the animals around him wouldn't let us approach, if you can call those things animals, and they disappeared into the forest."

"Mother, were they that big for you to say that?"

"The shadowcat was bigger than a horse, and with one swipe of its claws, it was able to rip a man in two. The two black birds looked exactly like ravens but were bigger than a golden eagle. The black bloodhound was smaller than a horse but bigger than a donkey, and lastly, an icicle snake close to 2 meters came out of the ground and coiled around him."

Everyone was holding their breath, listening to what was being said. At that moment, Lady Mormont asked me;

"Sir Drasil, you told me you were there too. We only saw the battle's ending, and you must have seen more than us."

I told them when I reached there, the battle had already started, and Druid Emrys was raining down spells on them and how his familiars reaped the lives of those wet rats, and I told them I was a warg.

"When I reached the battle Druid and his familiars were already fighting. Because I knew there was going to be a battle, I had come prepared. I had around 200 arrows, so I started pelting them with arrows while my familiar ripped them apart. "

If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

Dacey interrupted excitedly.

"Sir Drasil, what is your familiar? Could we see it?"

"I am sorry, but you can't right now because I left her with the Druid. He had to leave the island, and my Sith is the fastest animal in existence."

Lord Jorah Mormont asked, confused.

"Sir Drasil, I do not understand what you mean. Isn't your familiar a land creature? How did the Druid use that to leave the island?"

"That was the most magical thing I had ever seen; the Druid had cast a spell and made my familiar walk on the sea. Returning to Lady Dacey's question, Lady Mormont actually saw my familiar, but she said it belonged to the Druid. The shadowcat belongs to me. The Druid's mount was a giant white wolf, but he lost her at this battle."

I was suddenly filled with sadness, and I lifted the pitcher size mug in front of me and drank it at once. This was the first time I was drinking alcohol in this world. It was nothing like the alcohol in my old world; it was basically piss compared to them. It was something close to a low-quality ale. It burned my throat a bit and brought me to myself. Lady Mormont asked;

"How did you tame something that big?"

"She wasn't that big when I tamed her; I got her as a cub and raised her. With time she kept growing and reached that height. My other familiars are normal size, and I have no idea how she got that big."

Dacey turned to her mother excitedly and said;

"Mother, I want to go to the Westerlands with Cousin Jorah too. I'm sure Druid Emrys would be there, and I want to see Sir Drasil's shadowcat."

"No, you are too young for this war!"

"Why, I am already 18 name-day old, and I have proven myself as a warrior. Mother, am I a she-bear or a damsel in distress? How am I going to grow as a warrior if I do not fight? How will our warriors see me other than a little girl playing warrior when they return from the war when I haven't even stepped in?"

Jorah put his hand on Lady Mormont's shoulder reassuringly and said;

"I will look after her and won't allow her to enter the melee."

Lady Mormont sighed deeply and said in a stern voice;

"On one condition, you can go. You will obey Jorah's orders to the letter, for there he will be your Lord, not your cousin, and if you disobey him even once, I will lock you in Mormont Keep until you become an old hag."

"Okay, Mother, thank you so much. I will be an exemplary warrior."

We disembarked at the fishing village, and Jory Cassel was waiting for us at the pier.

"Good to see you, Sir Drasil; we didn't hear from you for a week."

"Didn't you get the message I sent with Kegan?"

"We got it, but there was no information there other than that you were injured."

"Don't worry, Sir Cassel, it was a flesh wound, and Druid Emrys healed it. So, it is good as new."

Dacey Mormont came right up to me and said excitedly.

"Sir Drasil, can I see your shadowcat."

"I can feel her; she must be close by."

"Yes, she is around here, people used to be very scared when they saw her, but after a while, they got used to it, and I will never forget her first visit with Druid Emrys for the rest of my life. They were walking on water. After curing everyone, he turned into an eagle and fled away. He can cast magic, command animals and turn into one too. I had never heard of someone like him, even from the age of heroes."

Jory was right about that, there was no group in this world that we could directly call druids, but there were individuals who had only a fraction of the powers that the Druid had. The Children of the forest were the ones who taught people all these things, so they had more magical powers but were few in number. People still talk about The Hammer of the Waters and the breaking of the arm even today.

This spell was one of the pinnacle rituals a druid could use, and I hope I can use it one day. Wargs were the animal taming part of the Druids. As for the skin changers, they were like wargs, but rather than control an animal, they would transform into one, and they were more of a myth because, for thousands of years, nobody saw one.

"Yeah, I couldn't believe my eyes when I sent him off at Bear Island. Lady Dacey, I will call for her right now."

-Sith, you can come now.-

Dacey's mouth fell to the ground as she saw Sith coming slowly out of the woods of the coastline.
