CHAPTER 113

289 AC

A WEEK LATER, BEAR ISLAND

POV MC

My familiars' words gave me some sense, but no matter what they said, I knew in my heart that I was the reason Lyka died. For the last two years, I had been unable to recognize myself; I had no idea how much puberty had affected me. I had officially turned into an angst teenager. My attitude towards Lord Stark and other nobles, and my needless taunt of them, would have damaged my relationships with the important people in this region.

The most important thing was that I had lost Lyka. If I hadn't been a smug idiot and retreated as soon as my spells didn't work, Lyka wouldn't be dead right now. My bullheadedness cost Lyka her life when I have no idea about my enemy's capability.

I took the red sword that stood at the corner of the cave in my hand and unsheathed it. It was glowing with an unnatural shine; this sword was almost as if it had been formed from the crystallization of blood. As we were leaving the battlefield when I passed out, my clever daughter Poe sensed the magic in this sword and brought it with us.

I had read a lot about Valyrian steel swords before and had seen Lord Stark's sword Ice up close but never had the chance to pick it up and examine it. There was no resemblance between the outward appearance of these two swords except for one point. Both swords had wavy shapes like Damascus steel, but that's where the similarities end. If I didn't know that the sword in my hand was made of steel, I would have thought it was made of glass, but Ice didn't look like this.

When I tried to sense how the inner structure of the sword worked, I could see runes were inscribed inside of it, but I didn't know what they meant. Those runes were feeding off the atmospheric mana. This meant that even if this sword ran out of mana. In time, it would have replenished itself back up. It was a marvel of magical blacksmithing.

"Ajomen anima (Wildfire spirit)"

In an instant, a blinding light filled the dim environment of the cave, and a tiny 40 cm wolf made entirely of fire appeared. This spell created a fire spirit as my summon. Now I knew what that membrane was: a connection to an elemental spirit dimension. The fire was always associated with rage and anger; I had been enraged both times. This created a bridge between me and this spirit. It didn't have much of an ego, but it understood commands. I would have burned to a crisp if I had tried to open this membrane when I felt it the first time.

The wildfire spirit radiated very high mana the moment it was born, and as a result, the environment was burned to ashes. In reality, it didn't have that much power, it could burn things when they touched it, and it could breathe out 20 cm fireballs every 20 seconds or so. Every 20 seconds it was out, I would lose one mana.

It is costly but advantageous against multiple opponents. When I focused on my mana heart, I found out my fourth circle was pure red, and I could feel the fire element inside the circle. Because I was able to control the fire spirit that got out of the dimension, I was able to absorb some part of it to create my 4th circle. When I brought the Inferno to my mana heart to channel it outward, it was as if my mana heart couldn't help but devour this pure mana. With it, my mana had reached 300.

Being a level 4 druid significantly increased my strength, and I acquired many new spells. My wind and nature element spells were weak, but the new ones were an excellent addition. I got out of the cave to try out my new spells. jelmio egros (wind blade) was a ranged attack spell like the name states. It threw a 1-meter wind blade. Its range was 20 meters, but since it was a slash attack spell, it kept cutting everything in front of it until all the power of the spell was gone.

Usti Perzys (Cauterizing Flames) was a healing spell I could only use when the wildfire spirit was summoned. It couldn't fix broken bones, but by pushing the wound close and then cauterizing, it could heal a medium wound. Wildfire spirit was using the destruction aspect of fire, but this spell used the other aspect of fire. The fire was all-consuming, but at the same time, it was the source of life; it was this aspect the spell used.

"Incoinfra (dwellers below)"

When I cast this spell in a ten-meter radius, small arcane green portals opened up on the ground, and from those portals came out big thorny roots as thick as a grown man's arm. Then those roots started to thrash around.

Sith came out of the bushes and said

"I wouldn't want to be in that area."

Even the rocks in this area were shattered under the attack of the roots, and the trees were broken. I asked:

"Who would?"

If I could spam this kind of big spell, I could kill a few thousand men quickly, but this kind of area of effect spells strains my mana heart to cast. If we think of spells like circuits, specific circuits are lit every time I cast a spell, and if I kept using the same circuit, it would cause a short circuit. That is why I could only use this spell every 5 minutes or so. The same with the wind blade spell.

Undraheba (command plants) spell was similar to Formoheba ( mold plants), but while mold plants spell, it permanently changes a plant's shape and is slow moving. Command plants spell is the opposite of it, it is a temporary shape change, and the control speed is breakneck. With this spell, when I am close to a tree, I can turn that tree into a giant whip.

"Undraheba (command plants)"

The big tree in front of me started to twist and move like a snake with my thoughts. I ordered it to impale itself into the ground, and the tree, which was coiled like a snake, pierced the ground like a stake. Then formed an arch as the top of the tree was stuck in the ground. The second I canceled the spell, it tried to turn to its original shape, but the tree broke apart. It wasn't able to take all those moving and thrashing. So if I move them too much, plants might die. It cost 15 mana to activate, and it had a 5-second duration. After that, I had to spend one mana every second to control it longer.

Glome Agri (spore field) spell created a 20-meter radius of the mushroom field. When there is movement inside this area, all of the fungi release hallucinogenic spores into the air, and everyone in this area begins to hallucinate. The effect lasts 2 minutes, or a high pain sensation can also cancel the effect.

Paez Lut (Slowing mud) was a crowd control spell. It turns the soil in a 15-meter area into 20 centimeters deep slurry. Walking on such a deep mud would be a nightmare.

The Mincalcium (summon minor elemental) spell allowed me to animate an elemental by choosing any of the five elements.

"Perzys mincalcium (fire elemental)"

As soon as I said that, a creature made of flame the size of the wildfire spirit appeared, accompanied by a small light. This creature had a humanoid silhouette but no legs. It wasn't able to cast any spell, and the only thing it could do was light things on fire with a touch. Every 5 minutes, I summoned another elemental. When I summoned the new one, the old one would disappear.

"Tegon mincalcium (earth elemental)"

A yellow fist-sized crystal formed on the ground with a yellow light and then began to rise from the ground, and rocks slightly larger than fists began to form around it. These rocks swirled around the crystal as if guarding it. The Earth elemental was able to throw rocks around it at great speed, but no new rock was formed in place of the rock it threw, so after throwing 20 rocks, there was no attack method left.

"Iēdar mincalcium (water elemental)"

This one was like a snake made entirely of water, while his attack method was to launch itself like a jet of water and cut off its target. When I tried it on a deer, it was able to injure but not kill the animal. This elemental, like Earth Elemental, was getting smaller every time it attacked until it was destroyed.

"Jelmio mincalcium (wind elemental)"

It was a human shape made of white clouds and mist. In order to attack, it held forward the extensions that looked like two arms and pushed everything in front of it with a powerful wind. It could last for 10 minutes. The wind was strong enough to push a grown man. When I was not buffed, I was not able to come close to it, and I was stronger than the average adult male. When I buffed myself, I had ten str. My buffs provided me with a +4 stat buff since I had leveled up. So, I was able to come close to it, but even then, I could feel the pushing force of the wind as I approached. I am guessing anyone below 7-str couldn't resist the wind.

"jelmāz mincalcium (lightning elemental)"

this one had a humanoid shape, too. Like the wind elemental, its lower body was made out of clouds, but this one had dark storm clouds as its lower body, and its upper body was made out of pure lightning. It had a big white spot on its head that looked like an eye. Lightning elemental wasn't able to shoot lightning, but when it touched a being, they were electrocuted. It was not able to kill with its lightning, but it was able to paralyze.

Some of my spells had become stronger, like my buffs. One of them was Melada Tegon(meld with earth). When I used this spell, I could now go down to 2 meters deep, and my speed of entry into the ground increased even more, but my speed in the ground was still the same.

Hebagumen (plant growth) spell's range got bigger now I was able to affect a 20-meter radius. Figumorfus (shapeshifting) spell got more powerful too. Now I was able to turn into one size smaller animal, and they did not have to be my familiars anymore. However, I had to absorb one of that animals before I could transform. I still don't have animals' special abilities like venom and underwater breathing. Another drawback was I would only have half the animal's stats.

Quersumby ( oakshield ) was upgraded into a thorny armor. Now if I wanted to, I could sprout big thorns all around my body when I had an oakshield around me. Those thorns were as sharp as a spear tip. Another spell that got more powerful was Ronvaiēdar (walk on water). Now my mana heart could cast this spell constantly without getting strained. If I had the mana for it, I could keep casting it.
