CHAPTER 249

296 AC

POV THIRD PERSON

Alec, leading 1500 cavalry, maneuvered through the dense forest, navigating the narrow footpaths that found their way between the trees. The cavalry, organized into smaller groups to accommodate the limited width of the forest trails, advanced cautiously, each rider maintaining their position in line. The necessity to travel in columns restricted their speed and agility, but Alec remained focused on the goal of outflanking the Mountain clans.

The forest, with its twisted paths and tangled undergrowth, presented a challenging terrain for the mounted forces. The rhythmic drumming of hooves echoed through the woodland as the cavalry pressed forward at a moderate speed. He had sent a scouting party up ahead to kill any sentry party they could face so they would be discovered as late as possible. Alec was proud of himself for thinking all of this, and he could feel the victory at his fingertips.

As the forest concealed their movements, Alec's cavalry silently advanced, choosing routes that would allow them to emerge on the flanks of the unsuspecting Mountain clans. One of the scouts returned and informed him,

"My lord, it looks like they pulled all of their sentry, and we have a clear line all the way to their flank."

Alec smiled and said,

"Hahaha, that is what you would expect from savages who know anything about warfare. Now, we can pick some pace and don't need to be silent anymore. Let's go and show those savages where they belong."

Just as he was full of excitement, he heard screams and shouting coming from their rear. They were under attack, but how?

...

Aermir and his force of 1000 men came out of the cave; they were just behind Alec's forces. Aermir had buffed 200 men and himself; they were ready to charge; in this fight, he couldn't act as Druid. So he disguised himself as a mountain warrior and used,

"Transformatio (transmorfation)"

He couldn't cast magic for the next hour, but his body was filled with power to the brim. Now, he had 35 str and 22 spd; he was almost as strong as a bear and as fast as a small horse. This spell was so powerful, but at the same time, it was a double-edged sword. Because he lost his ability to cast, he won't be able to deactivate this spell until the duration runs out.

Aermir didn't need magical armor or a weapon, so he had normal plate armor on him since he had his shield magic. On his hands, he had two great axes. With his superhuman strength, he had no problem carrying those big axes like they were daggers.

Because he had taken this armor from the mountain clans, it had fur and pelt around it to provide isolation from cold mountain air, adding a savage look to his fully clad body. With his enhanced speed, Aermir didn't need a horse and descended on his enemies like death.

With every swing of his axe limbs and horses were cut or crushed. His axes were not enchanted and were not super sharp, which is why most of the time, rather than cutting someone, he was crushing them to a paste when he landed a strike because of their armor-clad body.

He was the tip of the spear, and behind him, 100 people with regular quality enchanted gear and buffed soldiers tried to keep up with him. Aermir couldn't get all the regular enchanted gear here, or other battle fronts and chiefs would be exposed. One of the people following right behind him was Urf, son of Umar. He was having a really hard time keeping up with the Druid. When he said he couldn't expose himself they had always thought Druid would stand back and only heal them.

It would be a lie if he said he wasn't disappointed when he heard Druid wasn't going to use his magic to kill the enemies. They thought Druid wouldn't be much help without his magic, but he regrated those thoughts, and he was ashamed to look down on the priest of the Old Gods. Even without his magic, the Druid was a monster; he could not be a human; swords, spears, and all kinds of weapons were coming at him, but they all had no effect on him; the arrows couldn't even hit him. He was impervious to everything.

Aermir, empowered by an array of buffs and transmorfation spells felt the rigidity of his muscles akin to solid stone. The blows that came his way seemed no more impactful than a child's feeble strikes. His superhuman speed and strength propelled him forward, becoming an unstoppable force on the battlefield. Aermir, with the fury of the Old Gods coursing through him, continued to mete out death upon his enemies, relentlessly pursuing his target, Alec.

Despite the chaos surrounding him, Aermir was resolute in his pursuit, his movements marked by an eerie combination of swiftness and grace. Other than the spear to the eye or a war hammer to the face, nothing could stop him, and his helmet protected his weakest point.

As Aermir closed in on Alec, his men were dealing with the rest of the cavalry, helped by their enchanted gears and buffed bodies. His singular focus on the Vale leader intensified, he couldn't share sight with his familiars but he could clearly hear them and Poe continued to feed him information.

The battlefield, now stained with the blood of fallen soldiers, bore witness to the relentless onslaught unleashed by the Druid. His path was filled with ripped and mangled bodies of his enemies; he was leaving a trail of devastation in his wake.

Alec, realizing the impending threat, attempted to rally his cavalry to mount a defense. However, Aermir's physical prowess proved insurmountable, and limited movement space made cavalry almost useless.

Aermir jumped through the air, and he basically flew around 10 meters. With a powerful swing of his weapon, it found its mark, bringing an end to Alec's life. The force of the blow was so devastating Alec's body had burst like a canned tomato sauce. His full-plate Vale steel armor provided him no protection whatsoever.

The clash within the wooded confines concluded with Aermir standing amidst the fallen, the mountain warriors bearing witness to the overwhelming power he wielded. Those who managed to run away from that forest will carry this traumatic event for the rest of their lives.

Aermir rose to his feet from his crouching position on top of Alec's mangled corpse; his bronze-colored armor had turned crimson from the onslaught he caused. He looked like a demon in the eyes of his enemies and a revered war god to his allies.

Now it was time to finish this part of the battle and raze all of Valley of Arryn. He was going to outflank the rest of the Ruthermont and Wydman forces. He reorganized his man at a fast pace; he still had 50 minutes of duration until his transformation ended. It was long enough time to finish this battle.

A quick head count showed he only lost 50 men in this fight. He took his men and started running at a fast pace towards the right flank of Vale forces. Half of his men managed to catch the horses of the Vale knights, and now he had around 500 more cavalry on top of his 200. Not every mountain warrior knew how to ride very well since most clans were too poor to feed enough horses and those that knew how to ride were not as good as Vale knights but they were good enough for this battle.
