Chapter 554

Hugh had been given time off by Cherise, so she drove to Chivers Group alone.

The midsummer road looked scorching hot, waves of heat rising from the asphalt.

Cherise's thoughts began to drift, but she quickly refocused. Some things still needed to be investigated in person.

Before long, her car came to a smooth stop in front of Chivers Group.

Unlike before, Cherise was now Morris's wife. As soon as the car halted, someone hurried over to open the door for her.

"Mrs. Chivers, you're here." The person was the head of security at Chivers Group. He spoke with an ingratiating smile and immediately opened a sunshade umbrella.

"Mrs. Chivers, this way, please. From now on, you can park directly in the CEO's parking lot-it's

shaded over there." His tone was full of respect as he addressed Cherise as "Mrs. Chivers.

Morris had already informed every employee at Chivers Group that Cherise should be treated just like him-

or even better -whenever she visited.

Not that he needed to say anything. After the grand, widely publicized wedding a few days ago, everyone already knew just how much Morris adored Cherise.

In the lobby on the first floor of Chivers Group, employees straightened up as if they were welcoming an esteemed guest. They lined up neatly, bowed, and greeted in unison, "Good afternoon, Mrs. Chivers. Welcome!" The head of security, feeling the atmosphere wasn't enthusiastic enough, suddenly added, "Wishing you and

Mr. Chivers an early blessing of children and eternal happiness!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the assembled employees echoed in perfect synchrony, "Wishing you and Mr. Chivers an early blessing of children and eternal happiness!"

The moment Cherise stepped out of the car and into the building, she was greeted by this overwhelming display of enthusiasm. She couldn't help but curl her

lips slightly in amusement. It was all a bit too much.

She mused to herself, 'Morris usually seems so serious, but why are his employees all so over-the-

top and theatrical?'noveldrama

Despite her thoughts, Cherise remained good-

natured. She nodded to everyone with a gentle smile and returned their greetings.

Steven and Leo were also on leave, so when Cherise headed upstairs alone, no one informed Morris of her arrival.

A soft knocking interrupted Morris, who had been engrossed in rewatching the wedding video. He looked up and saw a pair of familiar legs through the transparent glass door. A smile spread across his face. Morris got up, walked over to the door, and opened it. "Cherise, welcome to your inspection tour."

Hearing his teasing remark the moment the door opened, the serious expression Cherise had worn at GlobalVision Group instantly disappeared. It was replaced by a bright, relaxed smile.

Without a care for the lingering gazes of the staff behind her, she reached out, wrapped her arms around Morris's strong waist, and pressed her face against his chest.

The employees behind her widened their eyes and dropped their jaws-

none of them had expected to witness such a scene during working hours.

Perhaps sensing that something was off with Cherise's emotions, Morris quickly shifted his footing, pulled her into the office, and shut the door tightly before drawing the blinds.

"What's wrong?" His deep, gentle voice carried a hint of concern. Cherise didn't answer. She simply let out a soft chuckle and continued leaning into his embrace.

Morris

didn't rush her. He could tell something was weighing on her, that she needed a place to rest. So he let her hold him. his hand stroking her silky hair as he lowered his head to take in the familiar, soothing scent of her. Maybe it was Cherise's need to release her emotions, or perhaps it was Morris's tenderness that ignited the emotions stirring within her.

She lifted her head and gazed at him with deep affection, her warm breath spilling onto his sun-

kissed neck. Her slender hands slowly reached up and wrapped around his neck.

"Baby, what's gotten into you? Why so eager?" Morris's voice, slightly husky and magnetic, revealed the effect she had on him.

"Don't you like it?" Cherise teased, her voice carrying a playful pout.

Leaning back against his desk, Morris took the opportunity to lift Cherise into his arms completely.

"Like it? How could I not?"

As he spoke, his warm lips captured hers, and his fingertips traced along her skin, exploring every inch.

Their bodies intertwined, rising and falling like the waves of heat in midsummer.

As night fell, the neon lights of countless buildings illuminated the cityscape outside the floor-to-

ceiling windows. Yet, within the office, the warmth between them lingered, refusing to fade.

Outside, employees glanced at the tightly shut office door, its blinds drawn securely, and couldn't help but comment. "Well, a married couple is really something else."

"Exactly. Those chaotic celebrity relationships-dating, getting married, divorcing, secret affairs, cheating-

none of them can compare to the love story of Mr. and Mrs. Chivers."

It wasn't until late into the

night, long after all the employees had left work, that Cherise slowly awakened in Morris's arms.

The moment she opened her eyes, she remembered where they were-

Morris's office. Instantly, a wave of heat rushed through her body, a rosy blush creeping up from her neck to her chin, spreading all the way to her cheeks.

She could only blame herself for losing control earlier, letting her emotions take over and seeking a release.

Morris, still holding her, felt her stir and let out a chuckle. "What's this? You came into my office, threw yourself into my arms, and now that you're awake, you regret it? Baby, tell me, am I wrong?"
