Chapter 521:
But as her gaze lifted, she noticed everyone else seemed to look away. No one seemed to have any faith in her chances. After all, this game wasn’t about deception; it was all strategy and memory.
Colton remained impassive, his dark eyes trained on Allison. For a brief moment, he half-expected her to come down from the stage and ask if he’d be her partner. However, her gaze traveled across the room, briefly settling on Colton before moving on as if he were just another shadow in the background, something small and insignificant. Still, she wore her usual air of nonchalance, cool and distant.
Allison didn’t respond right away, and Kylo seemed to understand her reluctance.
“Scarlet Snake, you’re free to bring in someone from outside,” he announced. “As long as the house rules are respected.”noveldrama
Amor scoffed, her tone sharp. “Allowing an outsider hardly seems fair…”
She fell silent when Kylo’s cold gaze pinned her in place.
“Remember, it was you who suggested these rules, changing the game format and allowing partners. These were all your proposals. It’s only fair that Scarlet Snake has the same choice,” he reminded her, his voice calm but laced with warning.
Forcing a tight smile, Amor replied, “Of course, Mr. Vargas. No objections.”
With that, Allison pulled out her phone and dialed a number.
A quick ring, and the phone was answered in two seconds.
“Ms. Clarke,” Kellan’s familiar voice came through, low and unhurried. He sounded as if he’d been waiting for her call, even though they had just parted ways a few hours ago, arranging to meet again the next day. But now, at nearly midnight, she was calling on him again.
Straight to the point, she said, “Do you have time to get to Muisvedo? I need ten million in cash.”
“Sure,” he replied without missing a beat. “Aren’t you afraid this might be a scam?”
“If it’s you calling, then I trust it’s not,” he responded warmly, a hint of amusement in his tone.
Allison steadied her voice, feeling a rare flash of heartfelt gratitude, and sent him the address. “I’ll be waiting at the underground casino.”
“I’ll see you in ten minutes,” he confirmed.
Allison and Kellan needed no clarifications between them; their trust went beyond words.
As she ended the call, she raised her gaze. “He’ll be here in ten minutes.”
Ten minutes was a span both short and long, depending on one’s nerves.
Amor rolled her eyes with a smirk, stretching her arms as if the wait was nothing to her.
“Ten minutes? I could hold out much longer than that. Let’s take a break in the meantime.”
Kylo nodded, granting his approval, and the room’s tense energy softened as everyone drifted into casual conversation.
“Who could Scarlet Snake have chosen as her partner?”
