Chapter 545 Stella
hadn't been sitting for long when she glanced at the time and realized her purpose for coming over had been accomplished. She decided it was time to head home.
As soon as she mentioned this, the three Jarretts in the room seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, though perhaps it was just her imagination.
They quickly recovered, however, and Jean, mindful of the fact that Stella was still her elder, stood up and offered to see her off
Stella had come today to dispel the rumors of discord between the Walton and Jarrett families that had arisen from the incident involving Lydia and Jean. She hadn't given it much thought beyond that. With Jean seeing her to the door, she left. But as soon as she stepped outside, the image of the young boy on the bicycle flashed through her mind again.
Stella was naturally a thoughtful and sensitive person, and for some reason, the boy had left her feeling uneasy. She took out her phone and called her brother, Tristan.
The call was answered quickly. "Hey, Stella, why are you calling me at this hour?"
Stella pursed her lips and paused for a moment before speaking, "Tristan, could you do me a favor?"
"Of course, what is it? I'm all ears!"
Taking a deep breath, Stella recounted what had just happened. "When I was leaving the Jarrett residence, I saw a young boy, around fourteen or fifteen.
"He rode out of there on a bicycle, and he looked just like Arthur. I mean, he was the spitting image. I think-
Tristan's eyes widened in surprise. "Are
you sure you didn't make a mistake?" he asked, his tone becoming somewhat anxious.
Sitting in the car, Stella shook her head. "No, I didn't. I even followed him for a bit. The driver saw him too, but we lost him." "Lost him?" Tristan repeated, feeling a mix of disbelief and inevitability. If the boy was indeed Arthur's child, it wouldn't be surprising that he had such Stella knew Tristan was puzzled and continued, "So, could you maybe look into who he is?"
Tristan paused for a moment before responding, "Alright, I'll get back to you. Don't overthink it. When you have time, go out with Lydia and clear your head
With Tristan's permission, Stella didn't exactly relax. She was still on edge, with no idea what she would
do if her suspicions were confirmed. However, they had underestimated Hank's capabilities.
After realizing he was being followed by Stella, Hank had taken care to erase any surveillance footage of himself from the route he took and from the Jarrett estate before he even returned to the orphanage. When the staff informed Tristan of this, it posed a significant problem for him, who was both suspicious and meticulous. Just then, his top assistant entered the office after running an errand. "Mr. Walton!" Upon seeing the assistant, Tristan immediately dismissed the others in the room before speaking, "So, what about the location of Charity Orphanage?"
The assistant nodded and handed Tristan a file. "We found a rather suspicious individual, sir. Take a look"
Tristan took the file and glanced through it. "Hank? Fourteen years old, a student in the Traditional Medicine Department at Betrico University.
"So young, and yet he was jointly recommended by the Academy of Sciences and the Traditional Medicine Association? Not only that, but he's also the champion of the Global Traditional vs. Modern Medicine Competition? Is he really from the orphanage?" The assistant confirmed, "Absolutely!"
Tristan let out a low whistle and, looking at the photo in the top right corner of Hank with his glasses and thick bangs, gave a cold laugh. No one knew what he was thinking. Then he stood up and said, "Let's go meet Arthur."
Half an hour later, in the dining hall of the Betrico Central Mansions, two of Clusia's most powerful figures sat facing each other, each with a tray of cafeteria food in front of them. Compared to other cafeterias, this one was quite well- stocked.
Tristan was the first to speak, "This is our first meal together since we parted ways in our respective fields, isn't it? It's simple, but it'll do."
Arthur, having finished eating, wiped his mouth delicately and replied, "It's more than sufficient. In Gavoria and Elysium, even the rulers go hungry. We should be grateful."
After the staff cleared away their dishes, the two men continued their conversation.
Tristan said, "Ah, yes. One must learn to be content! By the way, have you been visiting Mr. Dorian Finch lately?"
Arthur didn't hide anything and nodded. "Of course. He's my mentor.
Without him, I wouldn't be what I am today."
This statement struck a nerve with Tristan, who didn't want to dwell on it and quickly changed the subject. "Yes, indeed. We've both aged. We're the same age, right? Both 56?" Arthur nodded. "Yep, 56. In another ten years, we could retire."noveldrama
"Retire? As long as we have the energy, we could keep working until we're 80," Tristan joked.
Arthur chuckled. "I'm not that ambitious."
Tristan laughed, "Really?" He then continued, "You're now 56, still not thinking about finding a partner? Look at our colleagues from back in the day, all of them have children. And here you are, still alone. Or have you secretly found someone, even had kids?"
