The Jarrett family was incredibly warm and welcoming, so much so that Hank began to let his guard down and truly enjoy himself in their company.
He agreed with Cherise that being surrounded by family felt really good. Hank had initially thought that the Jarretts would be aloof and boring, but he was pleasantly surprised to find everyone so approachable and fun. Jean, Lucas, Mary, and Arthur were the same. As the day wore on, Hank remembered that he needed to get back to the orphanage. A couple was coming to adopt one of the younger girls, and he wanted to make sure everything went smoothly. He mentioned that he needed to leave. Before he could even finish his sentence, Mary's face fell. "Alas. So you can't come back and live with us? Do you dislike us? Why are you leaving so soon?"noveldrama
Hank shook his head vigorously. "No, it's not that. I just have some things to take care of."
Lucas stepped in to ease the tension. He had heard about Hank's situation from Arthur. With a kind smile, he said to Hank, "Good boy, you go ahead and take care of your business. You can always come back."
Hank nodded, pushed the bicycle he had ridden over, and took the snack box prepared by the elderly couple. With a quick push, he sped out of the gate, leaving a trail of dust behind him.
Just as he exited the gate, a sleek, high-
end sedan approached slowly. The license plate clearly indicated it belonged to someone important. Inside the car was Stella, who had come straight from the Translation Bureau to the Jarrett residence. She was about to inform the security guards at the gate when she sa This realization made her heart race, and she couldn't help but shout, "Turn around! Follow that young man! Hurry!" Her heart pounded as if she had been startled.
The driver, not daring to disobey, quickly turned the car around and began to chase after Hank on his bicycle.
The security guard at the gate, who was about to register Stella's visit, was bewildered, wondering why there were so many incredible things happening today.
Hank, on his bicycle, was indeed moving at an incredible speed, zipping through the streets with the driver of Stella's car following nervously behind.
Hank sensed the unfamiliar pursuit and his expression changed instantly. With one hand on the handlebars, he reached into his pocket with the other and took out his phone. Pretending to take a casual selfie, he actually used it to check out the car behind him. After a quick glance, he let out a cold snort. "Just as I thought. It seems there are quite a few people keeping an eye on the Jarrett family,"
With that, he put his phone back in his pocket and prepared for a sprint, weaving through traffic like a silver snake.
A bicycle, of course, was much more agile than a car. Soon, the driver following Hank lost sight of him entirely and reported back, "Ms. Walton, we've lost him!"
Stella's face showed a hint of frustration, but she didn't voice it. She simply said, "Alright, let's forget
about it for now and head back to the Jarrett residence."
As soon as Stella's car turned around, Hank peeked out from a nearby alley with a sly grin, watching the car disappear down the street.
Stella's car soon returned to the Jarrett residence.
Ever since the incident involving Lydia and Jean at the Walton residence, the relationship between the Walton and Jarrett families had become somewhat awkward. Now, with Stella's arrival, the two elderly couples sitting together felt even more uncomfortable. "Mr. and Mrs. Jarrett, Jean, I came today mainly to apologize for the unpleasantness that happened last time.
"I'm really sorry. It's just that Lydia was a bit unstable. My brother has already taken her to see a psychologist. She does have some issues and is now resting at home. I can assure you that this kind of thing won't happen again." Stella's greatest strength was her ability
to be humble and genuine, especially with the elderly. Seeing her attitude, they couldn't really say anything.
After all, both Tristan and Arthur were prominent figures in Clusia, and there were many things they needed to support each other in. Close contact might not be possible, but they still had to maintain a polite facade. "Oh, let bygones be bygones. Just be more careful in the future," Mary said, her face expressionless.
Seeing that Mary's attitude was no longer as warm as before, Stella tried to change the subject to something more cheerful. "Tomorrow is Morris's wedding, right? It seems like the whole Betrico is paying attention to this event. Congratulations!" This interested Lucas and Mary, who were also looking forward to the wedding. "Indeed, it's been a long time since we had such a joyful occasion. We can have a good celebration tomorrow. Did you receive an invitation? Mrs. Chivers must have sent it over."
Stella nodded. "Yeah. We're really happy for them. Oh, by the way, is Arthur going to attend?"
Jean and Lucas were eating snacks nearby, and seeing that she had finally gotten to the point, they exchanged glances, waiting to see what Mary would say.
"I'm not sure. Generally, he should attend, but his position is special. It's unclear. It doesn't matter."
Stella nodded. "That's true. Once he's in that position, there are many things he can't control," she said, then seemed to suddenly remember something. "Oh, when
I was registering at the gate just now, I saw a young boy who looks incredibly like Arthur.
"I was so curious. I don't know who he is. He's very handsome, almost identical to Arthur. If he hadn't ridden off on his bicycle, I would have followed him. So, is he a Jarrett?"
At this, the three people present became alert. Jean, who was about to put a snack in her mouth, just looked at her. Mary hand
trembled slightly as she glanced at Lucas.
Remembering what Arthur and Hank had said, Lucas smiled, "You think so? I think so too. That boy is a relative of ours, just back from abroad. Maybe it's because our family genes are good, so he looks a bit like Arthur.
