Chapter 522:
“In the gambling world of Ontdale, nobody rivals Amor and Kylo.”
“Whatever happens, it’ll be one to remember.”
Standing amid the chattering crowd, Colton watched Allison closely, his expression unreadable.
He hadn’t missed the brief, genuine smile that had flickered across her face during the call, disappearing as quickly as it had come.
It wasn’t like her usual cool demeanor, and the sight of it sparked an odd tension within him, making him tug at his collar. The feeling lodged uncomfortably in his chest, stirring irritation.
Who had she called?
Was it that doctor, Floyd? The brazen young heir, Gordon, from the Herbert family? Or… was it Kellan?
During the break, Melany rushed off the stage and made a beeline for Colton, her face a mask of hurt.
“Colton, I’ve never gambled in a casino before. I didn’t know they had so many rules.” She blinked back a few tears, looking pitiful. “And Allison? She knew the rules and didn’t bother to warn me.”
Colton’s face darkened. He replied coolly, “It’s not your fault. Even if you lose another million, Stevens Group can handle it.”
Colton was gambling himself — on the fact that Allison’s new partner would be no match for him or the power of Stevens Group.
Across the room, Amor observed the exchange for a while, wine glass in hand, before strolling over.
“Good evening,” she greeted, her every movement polished and alluring.
Melany tensed, though she forced a smile. “Good evening.” Colton barely acknowledged her with a nod. Gamblers held no interest for him, and he made no effort to hide it.
But Amor pressed on. “You know Scarlet Snake, don’t you?” She wasn’t asking but affirming.
Without waiting for an answer, she added with a sweet blink, “From where I’m standing, it looks like this gentleman prefers Scarlet Snake — otherwise, why would he keep looking at her?”
Melany’s face froze. “You must be joking. My husband and I love each other very much.” She was clearly angry but held herself in check.
Amor’s suspicions only deepened. She cast a sly glance at Allison and raised her voice. “Scarlet Snake, did you know this gentleman’s been staring at you all night?”
Allison, quietly sipping her drink, let out an annoyed sigh.
All eyes turned toward the unfolding spectacle.
Melany’s eyes turned bloodshot. “He’s my husband. You might’ve misunderstood something…”
