Chapter 85

Chapter 85

Qin Feng bent down, not believing Ouyang Yu, “Mr. Chen's words can't be false. Give me her soul, and I'll give you a way out.”

Ouyang Yu suddenly attacked Qin Feng, who parried the blow. In a matter of minutes, they had exchanged over a dozen moves. Ouyang Yu was kicked against the wall, then fell, his stomach hitting broken wooden boards, causing him to gasp in pain. He wiped the blood from his face and spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva, “She’s really dead.”

Qin Feng reloaded his gun and drew a dagger, “Is she?”

“Where’s the evidence she’s the princess?”

Is she really a princess? Qin Feng walked over, and as Ouyang Yu tried to get up, Qin Feng kicked him into a corner, thrusting the dagger at his neck. “I am the best evidence, Mr. Ouyang. Why did she come to find me? Don’t tell me you don’t know. Why did she die? You harmed her in two lifetimes!”

Why? Why couldn’t Ouyang Yu defeat him? Because he was General Qin!

How did Ouyang Yu not realize? That short sword was a Qin family artifact. Why did Lin Fan seek Qin Feng? Why? Her fate was not to have any romantic entanglements, but it had been forcibly changed. Why? An obsession from a past life. Didn’t Qin Feng resemble him? Too much, Ouyang Yu’s face turned from green to white. He had caused the princess's death, which was truly ironic.

Ignoring the dagger at his neck, he quickly lunged in another direction, manipulating the candles on the ground.

“What are you doing?”

“She’s entered the Fourth Realm, where demons and monsters abound. She will die there. Quickly, go find her and bring her back immediately.”

Qin Feng’s face changed. He didn’t believe Ouyang Yu and took out his phone to call Mr. Chen.

Ouyang Yu’s eyes nearly shot fire as he quickly arranged the candles, his hands trembling. It didn’t look like an act. The phone connected quickly, and Qin Feng said, “Sir.”

“Keep her body preserved. I’ll be there shortly.”

“How did you know?”

“When you came to see me last time, I knew she would face this tribulation. It’s her fate,” Mr. Chen said. “Tribulations can’t be avoided.”

“What kind of place is the Fourth Realm?”

Mr. Chen’s usually calm voice changed, “Her soul is in the Fourth Realm?”

“Yes.”

Ouyang Yu lit all the candles and drew symbols with his blood.

“Then she’s in great danger. She might not come back.”

Ouyang Yu sat cross-legged on the ground, ignoring his bleeding wounds, chanting incantations. His face gradually changed, his blood vessels swelling as if to burst through his skin. It was extremely eerie; Ouyang Yu wasn’t human.

“Entering the Fourth Realm and losing her soul means she can never return.”

---

Lin Fan was furious, wanting to kill someone. That crazy old Ouyang Yu had thrown her into this godforsaken place, an endless, sinister-looking forest.

Was Ouyang Yu insane?

Before she could finish her thought, a monkey leaped out from the darkness, screeching as it charged at her. In an instant, its claws were right in front of her. Lin Fan rolled on the ground, drew a short sword from her chest, and stabbed forward. The monkey screamed and rolled two meters away, eyeing her fiercely. Lin Fan glanced at the short sword in her hand, not knowing when it had gotten there.

She cautiously surveyed her surroundings. More monkeys appeared, lurking in the grass, waiting for her to show a moment of weakness so they could pounce and tear her apart.

It had been a long time since such a fresh soul had appeared here; she looked delicious, and they drooled.

Lin Fan gripped the short sword, backing up step by step until she reached a large tree, leaning against it. There was a commotion in the distance. What kind of place was this? Lin Fan warily scanned her surroundings. Could she still go back? Could she see Qin Feng again? She missed Qin Feng.

Was this hell or what? If it was hell, shouldn’t there only be ghosts? What were these monkeys doing here? Was this Animal Planet?

Feeling a chill above her, Lin Fan dodged and rolled, swinging her sword in a counterattack. The monkey was instantly cut in half, the short sword incredibly sharp, to Lin Fan’s surprise. Blood spurted out, splashing onto Lin Fan. The monkeys that were about to advance screeched and backed away. This fresh soul was not to be trifled with, they hesitated.

Lin Fan was starving, unsure of the time. She looked at the dead monkey on the ground, licked her dry lips, and swallowed her saliva. She couldn’t bring herself to eat it; it was too disgusting.

Relying on the short sword, the monkeys didn’t dare approach. She began to move forward slowly. Not far away was a fruit tree with dark fruits. Holding the short sword in her mouth, she quickly climbed the branches. The monkeys were about to attack when she immediately turned and held the sword in a defensive posture. The monkeys backed down again. The fruit tree was tall, offering a good vantage point for both attack and defense. Worried that monkeys might suddenly fall from the tree, Lin Fan climbed higher. The monkeys suddenly grew agitated, screeching and fleeing.

There must be a monster coming, Lin Fan quickly hid in the dense foliage. She grabbed a dark fruit and took a bite; it tasted of blood, but she forced it down. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a nimble animal darting past, grabbing a monkey and devouring it in a few bites before moving on to another target. The monkeys were torn apart, blood and flesh flying everywhere.

Lin Fan decided it was better to stay in the tree and eat the disgusting fruit. It was terrifying down there.

By the time she ate her tenth fruit, the fourth wave of attacks was underway below. A snake-headed, tiger-bodied monster and a tiger were fighting fiercely. Lin Fan had always wondered which was stronger, a snake or a tiger, when watching wildlife shows.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

If it was a small snake, definitely the tiger, but this snake stood seven or eight meters high. Lin Fan hid deeper in the leaves, afraid of being discovered. She picked another fruit and stuffed it into her mouth. This one didn’t taste like blood. She almost vomited from the bloody ones earlier.

She watched the fight with interest. The snake coiled around the tiger, smashing it towards her tree. Lin Fan blinked, quickly jumped down, and the black tiger crashed into the tree, uprooting it.

The snake-man’s gaze fell on Lin Fan. She backed away, holding the short sword, smiling, “Just passing by, carry on!”

The snake-man hissed, its tail sweeping towards her. Lin Fan rolled and tumbled, still getting flung away, hitting the ground hard. As she tried to get up, the tail swept again. Lin Fan sighed, thinking she would die here.

The next moment, Lin Fan was pulled away, her face dragged along the ground, painfully burning. She turned to see Qin Feng. Shocked, she almost jumped up. After seeing so many strange creatures, seeing Qin Feng brought tears to her eyes.

Qin Feng rolled away with Lin Fan, avoiding the snake’s tail smashing into their previous spot. Qin Feng tossed Lin Fan onto a grassy patch, stood up, and slashed at the snake’s tail with a long sword.

The sword was something they had found on the way. Who knew what it was made of? When it struck the snake’s tail, it made a clanging sound, numbing Qin Feng’s hand. The snake quickly retracted its tail. Qin Feng watched it warily, stepping back.

Lin Fan scrambled up and ran over. Qin Feng saw her out of the corner of his eye and reached out to stop her. Lin Fan hugged his waist, tears streaming down, “Brother Qin—”

Qin Feng held her hand, not daring to relax, stepping back slowly.

“Don’t cry, I’m here.”

Hearing this, Lin Fan broke down, burying her face in his back, sobbing, “I missed you.”

“I missed you too.” Qin Feng clashed with the snake’s tail again, stepping back and pulling Lin Fan, shifting his sword to a thrust. The snake’s tail hit the ground, and before it could rise, Qin Feng stabbed down.

The sword pierced the snake’s tail, making it howl. Qin Feng didn’t linger. He pulled out the sword to leave, but Lin Fan shouted, “Watch out!”

Qin Feng was flung away by the snake’s tail. Lin Fan ran to catch him, but his large frame knocked her down too, and they rolled into a ditch. Qin Feng held Lin Fan tightly, quickly retreating, his back against the wall. The snake’s tail swept past, Qin Feng’s rapid breathing audible to Lin Fan.

Looking at him so close, her eyes turned red instantly. “Are we alive?”

Qin Feng smiled, “Yes, we’re alive.”

The snake-man was unwilling to back down after being stabbed by Qin Feng, too petty to let it go. Qin Feng kissed Lin Fan on the cheek, holding his sword, "I think that thing's head is definitely its weak spot. You distract its tail from the back, and I'll go for the head from the front."

The snake’s tail hit the slope above them, causing a large clump of dirt to fall. Qin Feng shielded Lin Fan with his body, protecting her from the falling debris. "I'll count to three, then you run to the right."

"Okay." Lin Fan opened her eyes and touched Qin Feng's dirt-covered handsome face.

Qin Feng took the short sword and handed her the long sword, "Slashing doesn't work, stabbing is more effective."

Lin Fan looked at him, her dirty little face with bright eyes, "I like you."

Qin Feng looked into her eyes, "One."

"I missed you so much."

"Two."

"I—"

Qin Feng grabbed her face and kissed her hard, leaving her lips tingling. He released her and pushed her away, "Go."

They sprinted in different directions, the snake’s tail smashing into the spot where they had just been, creating a deep pit over a meter wide. Lin Fan shouted, "Come on! Bastard! Come bite me!"

Qin Feng: "..."

Lin Fan was small but fast and agile. Qin Feng saw his chance, leaped, grabbed a branch, and swung onto the snake-man. He stabbed with the short sword, drawing blood from the human upper body.

The snake-man's entire attention was on Lin Fan, not expecting Qin Feng to strike. It tried to retract its tail, but Lin Fan lunged, grabbing the tail and stabbing it with the long sword. The snake-man screeched, trying to shake Lin Fan off. She clung to the tail, her nails digging into the scales, refusing to let go. Qin Feng didn't hesitate, chopping at the snake-man's neck. The head rolled to the ground, and the enormous snake body collapsed, flinging Lin Fan several meters away. She struggled to get up, her entire body aching.

Qin Feng rushed over, looking disheveled, covered in blood, with cuts on his face. He pulled Lin Fan up. Despite being dead, the snake-man’s tail was still twitching. Qin Feng wiped the blood from his face, pulled out the sword, and lifted Lin Fan onto his back. "I'll carry you. We need to get back quickly; your body can't wait much longer."

Lin Fan panted, coughing a bit, "My body?"

"This isn't the real world. If you die here, you'll never return." Qin Feng said, "Your body is in our world; we need to get back fast."

Lin Fan had always thought her real body was here. She was stunned for a few seconds and then asked, "Won't the forensic doctor dissect me?"

Qin Feng took a shortcut, heading towards the exit. He was silent for a few seconds, "Anyone who tries to dissect you will regret it."

Lin Fan: "So, you're not here with your real body either? Won't you get dissected? We're both ghosts; who will avenge us?"

Qin Feng: "…I brought my body in."

Lin Fan stared at Qin Feng's ear, wanting to kiss him but not daring to. She buried her face in his neck, "You were smart to hold something back. If anyone tries to destroy my body, you make sure to beat them to tears."

Qin Feng: "…"
