After finishing their breakfast, voyagers started to search for Megan, Olivia, Kalvin, and Carl set out to search for Megan in the bustling party hall, eager to retrieve the keys to their personal belongings.
Olivia searched the crowd, her eyes darting from face to face, looking for any sign of Megan. After a while Carl saw Olivia walking around looking for Megan, reached out and gently touched her hand, causing Olivia to turn towards him in surprise. A small smile spread across her face as she met his gaze.
"Did you find her?" Carl asked, his voice soft.
Olivia shook her head. "Did you find her?" she asked in return.
Carl responded with a subtle shake of his head, and at that moment, Kalvin approached them, a weary expression on his face.
"Did you see Megan?" Olivia inquired, her eyes fixed on Kalvin.
"Just found," Kalvin replied, tilting his head to the left. "There she is," he said, his gaze focused on a table in the corner of the hall.
Olivia and Carl followed Kalvin's line of sight, and there, sitting at a small table, was Megan, her straight blonde hair unmistakable. As Olivia, Kalvin, and Carl approached Megan's table, they realized she was engaged in conversation with a dark-haired man while eating a snack.
"Oh, you've finished breakfast. Let's go," Megan said, rising from her seat.
"By the way, these are them, Emerson," Megan said, gesturing towards the trio.
"Oh, are you from Octagon Verenda?" Emerson asked, also getting up from the table, a curious expression.
"Yes, we are," Kalvin replied, his tone slightly short.
"Which sector are you from?" Emerson inquired further.
"I'm Olivia Blake, I'm..." Olivia began but was interrupted by Emerson.
"Madam Blake's daughter? What are you doing here?" he asked, his eyes widening with surprise.
"It's a long story," Olivia responded with a gentle smile.
Emerson then turned his attention to Kalvin. "You look familiar. Are you... Mmm, yes, Sir Bostic's adopted son!" His eyes widened in recognition.
Kalvin smiled gently. "Yes, I'm Kalvin Turner," he replied.
"Turner? Not Snow?" Emerson asked, puzzled.
"That's a long story," Kalvin said quickly, shifting the focus. "This is Carl Collin, from the farming and hydrology sector, Madam Blake's future son-in-law," Kalvin added, introducing Carl, who smiled gently.
"You all have changed a bit since I saw you four years ago. You had just graduated back then, Kalvin, but you were famous for breaking the record of the highest marks ever in the security sector. Many predicted you'd be a guard of Bell's," Emerson said, seemingly happy to be reconnecting with someone from his past.
"You were on that flybat, sent to study the nano cover four years ago?" Kalvin asked, his curiosity piqued.
"Yeah, my bad luck," Emerson replied with a smile.
"Seems like you know each other," Megan said, interrupting the conversation curiously.
"Ah, kind of," Emerson replied, smiling.
"So why are you here?" Emerson continued, his gaze shifting to the trio. "It has to be something so important if the Chancellors let their beloved children go to Bermuda, knowing the risks involved. Mmm, let me guess - is it about the O 1129 spacecraft?" he asked, leaving the voyagers with their mouths agape.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
"Of course, do you know where it is? Can we meet the pilot?" Kalvin asked, his mischievous brown eyes lit with hope.
But Emerson shook his head in disappointment. "Unfortunately, no," he replied.
"Why? What happened?" Olivia chimed in, her brow furrowed.
"The pilot wanted desperately to go. He tried to start a riot and was caught, and got killed," Megan replied, leaving the voyagers wordless.
"Oh!" Carl eventually said, his expression crestfallen.
Kalvin broke the silence, his voice tinged with urgency. "So where is the spacecraft now?"
Emerson's reply was sombre. "Inside the Ocean Diamond."
Kalvin stared at him, his eyes alight and hungry for more information. Emerson seemed to recognize the voyager's need for details and continued.
"The Ocean Diamond includes three main parts - the prison, the yard, and their spacecraft. Their spacecraft is where they live. The yard is the place where they store stolen ships and other items. The lab is located there as well."
The spacecraft they had come to salvage was not only hidden away but guarded by their captors within the very heart of their stronghold.
Kalvin let out a breath. Carl murmured, his shoulders slumping slightly. "This just keeps getting more and more complicated,"
Olivia looked at Megan and realized she wasn't happy about what Emerson just said.
"Let's go I have more things to do" Megan said in a busy tone.
"We'll be glad to talk with you more later. There are more interesting things going on in Octagon Veranda recently, "Olivia said to Emerson, making him curious as she realized this guy could be useful in their voyager. Also, she had a feeling that Megan would try to stop him as she did not seem to be so pleased with the detailed explanation given by Emerson.
Emerson offered a gentle smile.
" Offcause I'm curious to know more" Emerson said swallowing Olivia's bait. As Megan began to lead the way, the voyagers turned to follow her. But suddenly, three rowdy men stumbled into their path, blocking their way.
"Well, look who we have here - the 'lady captain,'" one of the drunken men sneered, his words dripping with disrespect.
Megan's expression hardened, and she commanded firmly, "Out of my way."
The disruptive man dramatically bowed, mocking Megan's authority. His two equally drunken companions giggled like schoolboys, clearly amused by the situation.
Megan fixed the man with a piercing, cold stare, her eyes narrowing dangerously. It was the kind of look that could cut through steel.
"I... said... move!" she pronounced word by word in a clear high commanding tone., her eyes locked on the drunken man who had mocked her.
This kind of drama was clearly nothing new to Megan. The drunk man hesitated, his bravado faltering under Megan's steady gaze. But he wasn't ready to look weak in front of his friends either, his drunken head wouldn't allow him to do that.
" Really?" He said trying to touch Megan's hand. At that moment Kalvin hurried to help Megan, as a boy raised bt Chancellor Bostic he couldn't tolerate that kind of disrespect done to a woman.
"Stay back!" Kalvin said stepping forward but Megan hurried. She punched the person in the face! The drunken man fell to the floor with a painful cry.
"Oops," Carl mumbled, watching the scene unfold.
He wasn't the only one interested in the drama. Most of the people around had stopped to watch. Megan took a quick look at the other two dudes then she turned to Kalvin who was a few steps behind her.
"I can handle this," she said to him, her confidence unwavering.
"I'm sure you can," Kalvin replied, a touch of joy in his voice. She has shown enough talent for him to understand how good she was at fighting in the last two minutes.
As the fallen man struggled to his feet, his eyes glistening with fury, Megan stared him down, waiting for him to make the first move.
The drunken man attacked his untrained shots no match for Megan's skills. With a few well-placed punches to his face, belly, and chest, Megan swiftly put him down, showcasing her impressive fighting abilities.
The other two men, now visibly scared, quickly disappeared into the crowd. Megan stared down at the man lying on the floor, his lips swollen and bloodied.
"If you can't be anything useful, at least try not to be a fool," she said, her voice dripping with disdain. Then she turned around to see the faces watching this.
"Stop it!" Megan shouted loudly, pointing at the buffles.
The music immediately stopped as the crowd fell silent, all eyes turning to Megan.
"There weren't many people in the last ship either. They'll come back again, looking for human supply replacements for their lab," Megan said, her gaze fixed on the man struggling to his feet at her feet.
"When they come, if you're this drunk, it's going to cost you not just your life, but a lot of pain!" Megan's voice was commanding, her words carrying a sense of urgency.
"Decide whether you want to live or die the most painful death possible," she shouted, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Megan then turned and looked at the surprised faces of the voyagers.
"Let's go," she whispered to them, beginning to move forward.
Carl leaned in and whispered teasingly to Olivia, "She's your type."
Olivia smiled and whispered back, "I get angry worse." Carl smiled staring at her as they started to walk away.
