Under The Sea
Ocean Diamond-3

Ocean Diamond-3

As Megan led Olivia and Kalvin through a spotlessly clean, white-walled corridor, Olivia's curiosity finally got the better of her.

"Where are we?" she asked, her tone tinged with uncertainty.

"Under the sea," Megan replied, her tone matter-of-fact and lacking any real concern.

"Under the sea?" Olivia whispered, her eyes widening as the implications of Megan's words sank in. Could this be some kind of dream?

"Yes, Ocean Diamond is located under the seabed of the Bermuda Triangle," Megan explained, her pace unwavering.

"But why?" Olivia pressed, struggling to make sense of the situation.

"Because we are captured by them. This is a prison," Megan said, her tone almost resigned as if this were a fact of life.

"A prison?" Kalvin echoed, his brow furrowing in confusion.

"Yes, a prison," Megan replied, her words clipped and succinct.

Olivia hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Is Kara... a human? I mean, her eyes..."

Megan paused, turning to face Olivia. "You have good eyes. They are not human," she said, a hint of approval in her voice.

Olivia and Kalvin exchanged a bewildered glance as Megan continued.

"They are aliens. Their spacecraft was drawn here because of a failure in the 1800s, and since then, they've been trying to find a way to go back to their world."

Kalvin's expression shifted to one of disbelief, and he let out a nervous chuckle. "You're kidding, right?"

Megan's gaze hardened, and she fixed Kalvin with an unfriendly look. "Is the tracker on your hand a joke to you?"

Kalvin's smile faded, and he shook his head. "If this happened in the 1800s, why are they still here? Maybe you're not aware, but it's February 2140 now."

Megan's expression darkened as Kalvin challenged the timeline of the events she had described. She fixed him with a stern gaze and replied, "You're right, it has been a long time. But their plan hasn't changed – they're still trying to find a way back to their world, and they need us to help them do it."

Olivia and Kalvin exchanged a worried glance, the gravity of the situation sinking in. Megan continued, "They've been experimenting on us, trying to unlock the secrets of human biology and genetics. Especially those with rare blood types like yours."

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

Olivia felt a chill run down her spine. "What do they want with our blood and bone marrow?" she asked, dreading the answer.

Megan's expression turned grim. "They believe that by harvesting stem cells and genetic material from humans, they can find a way to genetically engineer themselves a new, more compatible body that will allow them to survive the journey back to their home planet."

Kalvin's face paled as the implications became clear. "So we're just... lab rats to them?" he whispered, his voice tinged with horror.

Megan's expression darkened as she explained further. "It's not just the experiments and the harvesting of our genetic material they're after. There's another reason why they need us – our atmosphere."

Olivia and Kalvin listened intently, their brows knitted in concern.

"You see, the level of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere is slightly different from the one on their home planet," Megan continued. "The higher CO2 content is actually poisonous to them. They can't survive in our atmosphere for long."

Kalvin's eyes widened in understanding. "So they need us to help them adapt, to find a way to breathe our air without being poisoned."

Megan nodded solemnly. "Exactly. They're essentially humans themselves, just from a planet with a different atmospheric composition. They need our biology, our genetics, to engineer a solution that will allow them to survive here long enough to find a way back home."

Olivia felt a surge of both fear and pity. "So we're not just lab rats, we're... what, guinea pigs?" she asked, her voice wavering.

"In a way, yes," Megan admitted. "But don't let that fool you – they're not doing this out of some misguided sense of altruism. They're doing it to save themselves, and they don't care how many of us they have to sacrifice in the process."

Kalvin's brow furrowed as he processed the information Megan had provided. "So, do they have a cure now?" he asked, his voice tinged with a sense of cautious hope.

Megan nodded solemnly. "Yes, they have found a treatment. For that, they need cord blood stem cells and bone marrow," she explained, her expression grave.

Olivia's eyes widened as the pieces began to fall into place. "That makes sense. They're trying to adjust their bone marrow to be able to produce blood that can tolerate our CO2 levels," she said, her voice thoughtful. "Do they use nanotechnology?"

Megan's gaze shifted to Olivia, a hint of surprise in her eyes. "Yes, of course. How do you know that?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.

Olivia's expression hardened slightly. "I've served as a doctor while I was with Octagon Verenda," she explained.

Megan's eyes narrowed, and she regarded Olivia with a newfound interest. "So you're from Octagon Verenda," she said, her tone laced with a hint of suspicion.

Kalvin and Olivia exchanged a tense glance, aware that their affiliation with Octagon Verenda could be a double-edged sword in this alien-controlled prison.

"Yes, we are," Olivia replied, her voice steady. "But we're not here to cause trouble. We just want to find a way to escape this place and reunite with our team."

Megan studied them for a moment, her expression contemplative. "Well, that's interesting. Maybe you two could be of more use to us than I thought."

Olivia felt her heart racing, her mind reeling from the weight of Megan's revelations.

"What can we do?" Olivia asked, her voice wavering. "How can we escape this place?"

Megan's expression hardened with determination.

Megan's expression softened slightly as she looked at Olivia and Kalvin. "We'll find a way to escape altogether," she said, her voice determined.

"Where are our friends are they okay?"Kalvin asked curiously.

"I'm taking you to them"Megan replied.

With that, she opened another door, revealing a massive, bustling hall. The scene before them caused Olivia and Kalvin's eyes to widen in surprise. What type of prison is this? Olivia thought to herself. Olivia and Kalvin exchanged a perplexed glance, unsure of what to make of this unexpected environment.
