023- A Mutation

I was standing before my classroom door, clad in my school uniform. I wasn't as enthusiastic and sparky as I was always; today, I was gloomy like never before.

I opened the door and walked into the class without saying a word.

Most of my classmates and Mrs. Takahashi looked at me in surprise.

I ignored their stares and made my way to my desk, closing the door behind me.

"Hey, you! Nakamura Shoji! Get out of my class! Are you stupid, or what?! I've told you that there is no place for you in this high school anymore!" Mrs. Takahashi screamed at me, pointing at the door.

I looked into her eyes and walked up to her.

"What? Leave my class right now!" She said.

The class president Kiri stood up. "Shoji! Just stop disturbing our classes every day! You were expelled, this thing you're doing right now is immature and disgusting!" She said in frustration.

"Oh please... shut the fuck up..." I said coldly and rolled my eyes.

I took a document that was in the folder which was in my bag. I put it to Mrs. Takahashi's face.

"Here you go, teacher," I said coldly.

Her eyes widened as she was reading the document. "What is that supposed to be?! How did you...?!" She said in disbelief.

I put the document back into the folder and I sit down at the desk where Carmilla used to sit alone, right behind the two love birds.

"Very well then... if that's the way it is... then attend my classes. I don't care. I will act like you're not here, Nakamura." She said.

"Huh?! Mrs. Takahashi! Why is he back?! I thought he was gone once and for all! It's impossible!" Kiri said in frustration.

Mrs. Takahashi shook her head and continued with her class.

Haruki turned around and looked at me. "I knew that you would make it back..." He said with relief.

"...But why do you seem so... weird...?" He asked curiously.

Carmilla also looked at me. "Yeah, you haven't said anything immature, perverted to this moment, and you're so gloomy that it hurts!" She added.

"Haruki... I cannot beat it... it's not hard... no matter what I do..." I said, tearing up a little.

"Beat who?" He asked curiously.

I laid my forehead down on the desk, refusing to speak any further.

"I don't get what's wrong with you, you creep, but you better get yourself back before the entrance ceremony." Carmilla rolled her eyes.

"...Entrance Ceremony...? When?" I asked, looking up at them.

"It's in three days, on Friday. Have you forgotten? I mean we've been informed about it on our first day here." She said.

Haruki sighed. "And we don't want a vegetable, we want Shoji."

"Fuck off man... I'm not in the mood to be happy and social today... everything's fucked and against me... upcoming events are the last thing that I will bother myself with." I rolled my eyes.

Suddenly the person who was sitting in the last desk in the middle row spoke up. It was no one else than Lilith Nightshade, a girl who was repeating her first year. She was around 162 cm tall, B cups, nice thighs, her skin was pale as if she was a vampire, her hair was red with streaks of blue and was tied into a double low bun, her eyes were crimson and tired, heavy bags under them. She was wearing a short skirt and an oversized button-up shirt with an oversized tie.

"Then you've come back in the worst time you could, troublemaker." She said, looking at me while lying her left cheek on the desk.

I looked over at her. "Whatchu mean by that?" I asked.

"...Wait a second! From what I remember, you're... uhh... Lilith, right?" Haruki asked curiously.

"No... Haruki... stop!" Carmilla pulled him protectively and glared at Lilith. "Don't talk to her! She's bad news! And she is also repeating the first year!" She said with a lot of disgust.

"Oh please~... Carmilla... insulting your fellow noble like that~? It's mean... I will cryyy~" She said with a sarcastic tone.

"Can you answer my question? What did you mean by 'the worst time'" I asked coldly.

"Oh... I see~! Someone's not in the mood to talk, huuh~? And here I was... a stupid girl... thinking that you would be the best person to talk to, huh~?" She smiled mischievously and continued with her sarcasm.

"Just say it, you stupid bitch." I rolled my eyes in annoyance again.

She played with her tie, her nails were long and painted in purple and red.

"Finne buhhhuh~! But just this once, because I feeeeeeel like ittt~!" She smiled and reached over her hand to poke my nose.

Carmilla giggled softly. "Oh, Lilith... I wouldn't recommend doing that to him... I mean... if everything's good and he's Shoji, then it's okay... but not when he's... like this~!" She giggled.

"Oh please~!" Lilith said but it was already too late.

As soon as she poked my nose, I grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her arm.

She fell off the chair on the ground with a loud thud. Her chair also collapsed making a loud noise. "Oh..." She gasped in surprise.

Mrs. Takahashi glared in our direction and when she was about to scream the bell rang.

Everyone looked at the teacher and she went red from embarrassment and left the class.

"I'm glad there was only one math class today so I don't need to see that whore no more..."

After a minute everything went back to the way it was before. Students talk with each other and eat their lunches.

Lilith sat down on my desk, looking down at me.

"I'm repeating the year so I know what events are likely to happen, events that no one was told about on the first day~," She said, smiling mischievously.

"First off we have the Entrance Ceremony, then a week later there are the club festivals, whose purpose is to promote the clubs for those who haven't joined one yet."

"We already know that you stupid hag," Carmilla said coldly.

"Oh~! So mean, Carmilla~! I'm hurt~!" Lilith hugged herself, pushing her breasts up a little.

"And then we have the first surprise event. The Field Trip, whose purpose is to force the first year to get to know each other~!" She said in a mischievous tone.

"How can I be certain that you're not lying, Nightshade?" I asked coldly.

"Little Carmilla can tell you~! After all... she has their eyes... the ones that she inherited~!" She said, looking over at Carmilla.

Carmilla's eyes glowed slightly and she sighed softly. "She's telling the truth." She said.

Haruki was just sitting there in confusion. "What do you mean? What eyes? Is something wrong with your eyes, Carmi?" He asked, clearly worried.

"She didn't tell you, Haruki? She has a mutation that lets her see if someone's lying, so be careful if you ever cheat on her, especially when her eyes are glowing~" I rolled my eyes.

Carmilla grabbed me by the neck as soon as I said it, most likely using Vymir to speed herself up. "What did you say?!" She said loudly in disbelief.

"Oh~! Carmilla got angwy~! Wrahh~!" Lilith giggled, but then she analyzed my sentence again and her eyes widened. "Wait what?"

"Carmi! He was just joking around! Calm down!" Haruki said with worry, patting her back softly.

I just looked into her eyes. "Okay! Okay! Sorry! Sorry for even implying that Haruki would ever cheat on you!" I said loudly, not even bothering to use any Vymir to enhance my body.

She calmed down a little and let go of me. "No... it's not about that..." She muttered under her nose.

Lilith got off my desk and stood on the ground, bending over and leaning her elbows on it. "What did you mean by 'when her eyes are glowing', Shoji?" She asked, but this time she seemed serious.

"What the hell? Why are they acting so weird right now?"

"I meant that her eyes are glowing when she is using her mutation? You know... just like earlier?" I said in confusion.

"What are you talking about, Shoji? My eyes are constantly on her and her eyes were not glowing for a single second..." Haruki said with even more confusion.

Carmilla blushed in embarrassment and hugged him tightly. "Oh my... that's so sweet! I can't!!!" She kissed him on the cheek and then looked over at me.

"But you...when did you see that glow for the first time, you bastard?!" Carmilla demanded an answer.

"I saw the glow in Carmilla's eyes for the first time on the last Monday when she was asking me about Haruki... tho the glow was very hard to even notice back then," I said.

Suddenly Haruki's pen started glowing. "Hey Haruki, your pen is glowi-" Suddenly the pen appeared on my desk and stopped glowing.

"Huh?" I and Haruki both said in surprise.

"Oh, my Devil! That's amazing! Just like I thought! You can perceive where and on what Mutations are used~!" Lilith said in amazement and started playing with her tie.

"You have an amazing sight, Shoji... and also you, Haruki seem very strong yourself~! I want you two! I want you two to become my servants! I can easily turn you two into lower-class demons!" She smiled widely, her fangs were slowly growing.

Carmilla stood up from her seat and grabbed Lilith by her shoulder.

"Hm?" Lilith looked at her in confusion.

"You underdeveloped witch... you're using your filthy weak mutation in open view just like that... what if a human noticed it, huh?! What if a human noticed it?! You're putting the whole demon race in danger of being discovered by humans, by doing things like that! And you also want to turn my boyfriend and my friend into a lower-class slave for yourself?! How could you even think of that you stupid hag?!" She said with pure cruelty and then pushed her to the ground, scratching her face with her nails.

"I was... kidding! I'm sorry...! I'm sorry!" She screamed and tried to fight back, tho Carmilla overwhelmed her with her strength, clearly using Vymir.

My eyes widened in surprise and excitement as I stood up, looking down at the fight.

"Fight! Fight! Go go! Come on!" I smiled in excitement for the first time that day.

Haruki also stood up, trying to get Carmilla off. "Carmilla! Stop this! Get off her!"

Even tho Lilith was overwhelmed, she managed to scratch Carmilla's face a couple of times, leaving marks and even drawing some blood.

The fight continued for at least 5 minutes, with no one trying to interfere, but watch instead. The bell rang tho the fight hadn't stopped.

Our history teacher Akane Hoshigaki entered the classroom. She had long violet hair with orange streaks whose tips were scarlet, her eyes were heterochromatic, the left was orange and the right was blue, she was somewhere around 181 cm tall making her slightly taller than I was, her breasts were also really large and her thighs were thick as fuck.

She looked at the two with an icy glare. "You two, Hoshino, Nightshade. Come with me." She said coldly with an otherworldly authority.

The two immediately stopped fighting, stood u,p and followed her out of the classroom without even saying anything.

"Woah... that was fast!" I said in amazement.

After classes I was in the Janitor's room, talking with him. I was in a better mood, as everything that happened today made me forget about my night.

"And that's about everything that's happened today! Tho I can't believe that they got detention for three fucking days, haha~!" I sipped my juice from the glass I was holding as I was lying on the old couch here.

"Hmmm... that's kinda interesting. Most people including me can sense Vymir or even see it with enough training. Tho I've never come across someone who could see Mutations. And from what you've said, that the light intensified..." Mr. Johnson looked at me curiously, sipping some beer from the can he was holding.

"What about it?" I asked curiously.

"Has anything changed between the first and the last time you saw it?" He asked.

"Hmm..." I scratched my chin. "My Authority Lev... Ehh... My Authority Type went up from First to Second. However, I don't think it had something to do with this perception trait." I shook my head.

"You're wrong, Shoji. You actually might have a mutation of your own." He points at my eyes. "Right in your eyes."

"How could you tell? I mean I know that I can see something that others can't, making it anomalous, but that doesn't have to be a mutation. Do you have any more proof of it or something?" I sat up on the couch, drinking all the juice in one go and putting the glass on the desk.

"Well, for every demon it would be really simple, but if you really don't know then I'll enlighten you." He smiled.

"I'm all ears," I said.

"You said that the light intensified after your Authority Type raised from 1 to 2, meaning that your Mutation has evolved." He said.

"Oh? Really? It works... just like that? Puff?" I couldn't believe that it was so simple as I was expecting some godly analysis.

"Ye, tho I wonder what will you be able to see if your Authority Type will continue to go even higher..." He said, slightly disturbed as he started to wonder about the future.

I stood up from the couch. "Man... you've just given me some motivation to grow powerful as if you weren't telling me to settle down last time we talked~" I rolled my eyes.

"Ehh... I wish this man could've been our homeroom teacher... he's so approachable and honest."

"Oh? You're leaving already?" He looked at the clock. "Oh! I haven't even noticed that it's already past 5~!" He laughed softly.

"Because you're drunk, you old man~!" I sighed and looked at him once again before leaving the room. "I'm not gonna visit tomorrow because I need to attend the club activities which are on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays." I sighed.

"Yeah, good luck kiddo." He said.
