024- An Unannounced Guest On An Unannounced Visit

I knocked on the door furiously. "Kaori! Open the door! I forgot the keys!" I said loudly.

"Wait a second, big brother! We're doing something~!" I heard her enthusiastic voice coming from the other side.

As I was standing there, I heard the sound of uncertain footsteps becoming louder and louder.

Someone gently grabbed my hand from behind. "H-hey... I want to talk." A shy and soft feminine voice said.

I turned around, seeing no one else than Layla. "You know what? I wanted to thank you for putting that address in my bag. It saved me a lot of time~" I smirked at her.

She blushed slightly. "I'm sorry... for being-..." Suddenly the door opened, cutting her off.

Kaori smiled at me. "Here! The door is opened now!" She looked at Layla with curiosity. "Who's that?" She asked in confusion.

"Oh my God... this is so uncomfortable... I want to go in, tho I cannot just leave this stupid blackhead right here and close the door."

Layla was holding my hand so tightly that I couldn't even separate myself from her.

I looked at Kaori.

"That's my classmate Layla." I rolled my eyes and looked over at Layla.

"And that's my younger sister Kaori." I sighed.

"Wait a second... knowing Kaori's personality... she will probably tell Layla to go away! She never accepts uninvited guests... and if she doesn't want her to go in, then I can just politely tell her to go away!"

I just wait for something to happen.

Kaori's eyes widen and she smiles widely out of amazement as she sees Layla holding my hand.

"Oh! Why won't you come in?! You must be very close to my brother! And here stupid me thought that he only hangs out with Haruki and Carmilla!" She said with a lot of enthusiasm, looking up at Layla.

Layla blushed slightly. "Uhh... n-no... not really... no... I can go... if I'm interrupting... something..." She said quietly.

"Yes! Good job Layla! Don't bother my poor ass like this! Just go away! Go, go!"

"No, no! You're coming in! Don't be so shy!" Kaori took her hand and dragged her into the house, closing the door behind.

Kaori ran away to the living room and I looked at Layla as we were taking off our shoes.

"Can you let go of my hand? Yknow it's kinda weird." I said coldly, rolling my eyes.

"N-...no!" She shook her head, her grip tightening even more.

"Something's weird about her. She was different when we were talking yesterday... tho if she wants to be physical so much..." I look down at her breasts. "She could at least let me play with those E cups~!"

She blushed furiously as soon as she realized what I was staring at. She covered her chest with the other arm and looked up at me, tho her bangs had no intention of showing her eyes.

"Please... don't stare... it's... embarrassing..." She muttered shyly under her nose.

Kaori came back to us and dragged us to the living room and seated us on the couch without saying anything.

She stared at Layla's hair, and softly touched it, making her blush even more.

"Woah! Layla! Your hair is so beautiful! It's soo black that I could lose myself in it!" She said in amazement.

"It is...?" Layla asked either uncertainty.

"Yes! And you know what?! I've heard that this perverted big brother of mine likes black-haired girls! So you have a big chance, but only if you want such a stupid pervert!" She said with a wide smile on her face.

"He does...?" Layla looked down at the ground, smiling faintly and finally letting go of my hand.

"Finally, oh my God! Stupid blackhead!"

"Pft... shut up Kaori, I barely know that girl!" I rolled my eyes

"Why is the table here, Kaori? We only set it up when guests a-..." A moment of realization arrived and I heard two familiar voices which came from the kitchen.

"Kenji! Don't burn the food!" My grandma said in worry.

"I'm doing alright, don't worry, Kimiko!" My grandpa sighed in frustration.

"No... no no no! Not now?! Why are they here?! Why now?!" I grabbed Kaori by her shoulders and shook her to which she replied with a smug smile.

"Big brother! Why are you sooo angry~? You've always liked family dinners when we were younger, back when Konrad still lived with us~!"

"This stupid kid... I sweat to the fucking God that I will make her pay in some way or another... she knows that it's tense between me and Grandpa and she's doing it to annoy me for sure!"

Layla looked at Kaori with a faint smile still apparent on her face. "Uhh... I-If... you two are having guests over... then... maybe... I should... g-go?" She said shyly.

"Yes! Good job, Layla! At least you have some common sense here!"

When Layla was about to stand up, Kaori hugged her tightly. "Nuh-uh~! You're not going anywhere~! You're already here and it's getting really dark! You should stay for the night, big sister!" She said mischievously.

Layla blushed again, but just slightly. "Big... Big sister?!" She asked in embarrassment.

"Yes~! From now on you're my big sister, and you can't do anything about it~!"

"And don't worry about Shoji doing bad things to you! He won't do anything as long as I'm here~!" She smiled widely, sticking out her tongue.

From that moment, Layla seemed to get less shy each second as we were waiting for my grandparents to put the food on the table.

Kaori and Layla were talking about some cosmetics and makeup, basically, things I don't give a fuck about, I've sat down on one of the chairs that were standing next to the table and then my grandma finally entered the living room.

"What?! She still looks so young?! She's like 60, tho she still looks like her younger self, but with silver hair!"

"Hi...grandma..." I muttered under my nose, looking away from her green eyes in embarrassment.

She quickly walked up to me and pinched my cheeks softly, kissing my forehead afterward. "Shoji! You've grown up sooo much! My sweet little grandson! You've grown so handsome since I saw you last time!" She then poked my nose. "Oh yes! Be embarassed! After all, you've managed to avoid us for two whole years, but this time we've finally caught you off-guard haha~!" She laughed softly and patted my head.

I started shaking at the thought of meeting my grandpa after all those years. I couldn't even think straight anymore and everything started to annoy me.

She then looked at the couch, seeing Layla and Kaori looking straight at her. Her heartwarming smile widened and she walked up to them.

"Oh? Who's that?! Has Shoji brought a girl over?! What's your name, sweetie? And are you my grandson's girlfriend?" She asked, tilting her head to the side.

Layla stood up and gave my grandma a small bow of respect, raising her skirt a little, as if she was in medieval times or something.

I caught a glimpse of her black panties with the corner of my eye.

Her shyness came back as she looked at my grandma's face. "My name is La-...Layla... and I'm Shoji's... classmate..." She smiled in embarrassment.

"Lalayla~?" My grandma giggled.

"Oh, granny~! Please! Layla seems to be a little shy around new people, go easy on her!" Kaori pouted as she stood up and hugged Layla's arm.

"Toście sie kurwa dobrały!" I said loudly, rolling my eyes at them.

Kaori looked at me, frowning slightly. "Shoji, if you want to speak like that here, then it's best for you to shut up, okay~?" She said coldly.

"What... did he say?" Layla asked curiously.

My grandma also didn't understand what I said.

"I will go get the food! I bet you all are hungry!" Grandma said cheerfully.

Layla sat down on the chair that was next to mine. She looked and me and smiled softly.

"Your grandma seems to be... no... is such a kind person... and your sister is also very nice... I don't understand why you a-..." I spoke before she could finish.

"You're talking to me like I'm your friend, tho you're just a total stranger at my house, but my sister is too focused on keeping you here to annoy my ass," I said coldly.

Her eyes widened and she looked down on the ground, sobbing softly.

"Fuck... I shouldn't said that... it's not like I hate that girl or anything... I'm just afraid... afraid of my grandfather... I don't want to talk to him... he's always hated me... and I know why..."

Kaori heard what I said and she hugged Layla, glaring at me as if I just killed someone.

I wanted to apologize, tho my pride wouldn't let me say anything, I just looked down at the ground for a couple of minutes, completely ignoring any sound or physical contact.

"She's a demoness... she will get over it... I'm sure she's heard worse things in her life." I rolled my eyes.

"What are you rolling your eyes at, Shoji!? You should apologize to that girl over there right now!" A manly voice came from across the table. A shiver ran down my spine and I saw the old balding man- my grandfather sitting on the chair directly in front of me on the other side of the table.

The food was already on the table and everyone was there.

Layla smiled softly. "No... it's okay... I'm a stranger... I just barged in here without an invitation... he doesn't need to apologize..."

"Is that girl... really a fucking noble demoness... she has no pride and accepts humility like a dear friend. It's the total opposite of what I've seen from her yesterday... the determination which she had while talking about Mrs. Takahashi..."

There was an uncomfortable silence as we were eating. I've also noticed that Layla has good etiquette, as expected from a Noble.

"So is the food good, kids?" My grandma asked with a big smile on her face.

Layla nodded and smiled softly. "It's yummy... I love homemade food... made with love..."

"It's good~!" Kaori said cheerfully

I grabbed the glass and took a sip of water from it.

"Soooo, Grandma! Did you know that Shoji started going to the church very often?!" Kaori smiled.

I almost choked on water when I heard that. I started coughing a little.

Layla patted my back softly. "I-is everything... o-okay?" She seemed worried.

"Fuck... you had every possible opportunity of telling her this stupid thing, but you've decided to say it in the presence of a fucking demon!"

"Oh really? Oh my, my! Kenji, you heard that? It's just like Konrad did!" Grandma said in excitement.

"A church, huh? Which one?" My grandpa sipped his wine, looking into my eyes calmly.

Layla was still patting my back, even tho I stopped coughing.

I still haven't looked once into my grandfather's eyes. "The one in Aokihara Ward District..." I looked away.

My grandfather's eyes widened in terror and uncertainty. "Vymir?" He asked.

My eyes also widened. "He knows?! Does he know about Vymir?! What the hell is going on... I thought... no... I didn't think about it... my grandpa always judged me for... for the lack of something..."

"Purification...?" I asked in confusion.

"What's a Vymir?" Kaori asked curiously.

My grandma reached her hand over to Kaori and patted her head. "Vymir is a way of praying, don't worry~!"

"Granny also knows?! What the hell is this family?! Why am I always left out of everything and forced to learn it myself!?"

There was another moment of silence. Layla took my hand and squeezed it tightly, but why?

After a moment my grandma broke the silence. "So how is school, Shoji? Are your grades good or bad?"

"School, huh? Yeah... it's fine, but everything could be better than it goes, yknow granny." I sighed deeply.

"And why is it, sweetie?" She asked curiously.

Before I could answer, Layla spoke.

"Our homeroom teacher really really hates Shoji! And she's very mean to him as well! But he is giving his best!" She said without any stutters which surprised me.

"Oh? And what about you, Layla? Are your grades good?" My grandma smiled.

"She's at the top of the class, grandma..." I sighed deeply.

Layla giggled softly.

"Oh, I get it now. She's already comfortable here, or at least seems like it..."

"Can you look out for my grandson, Layla? He's always been reckless and an idiot, but he isn't as bad as he seems to be." My grandma giggled softly.

"Sure... after all... I only want to have a friend..." She muttered under her nose, smiling softly.

My heart clenched in my chest and I felt a weird nice warm sensation, tho it was different from the one I felt when I exorcised Lucian.

"I need to go catch some air... haha~..." I stood up from the table and went to the garden outside.

After a moment, my grandpa also went there and put a cigarette in his mouth.

"So you've met him, huh?" He said as he started smoking.

I still didn't look into his eyes. "Met who?" I asked.

"Kamiyama Sebas." He sighed.

"So you know him, grandpa?"

"Yeah... I do... he is a priest who has lived for more than 200 years... he was the one who taught me how to use Vymir." My grandpa said with grief.

"200 years?! How the hell is he that old?!" I asked in amazement, looking straight into his grey eyes for the first time.

"He's a strong man... and we can live longer if we use Vymir for it..."

"Are you also planning on living that long, Grandpa?" I asked.

"No." He said coldly.

"Why? Isn't that amazing... to live... without... dying..." I slowed down as I remembered about my curse, about the fact that even I would never truly die.

"I was chasing immortality, but after meeting Kimiko... your grandma who wasn't blessed with the ability to use Vymir... I've decided to never touch it again and get older and die with her..." He looked down on the ground.

"This girl... Layla was it? She seems to be a nice girl, and she also seems to be lonely. Don't waste this opportunity, kiddo." He then turned to leave, but I grabbed him by the wrist.

I started crying like a little kid. "Why do you hate me so much, Grandpa?! Why!? Is it because of Mom and Dad?! Or what!? Why can't you just love me, like you love Kaori... and Konrad... why can't you just... treat me like your... family... I'm not asking for much... I just want... to be accepted... by you..."

He turned around, his eyes were full of tears and he stared at me for a couple of seconds.

And then he hugged me tightly, patting my back softly to calm me down.

"I'm sorry, Shoji... it's not like I ever hated you... I love you, I always did... I just distanced myself... because I wanted for you... I wanted for you to live a good life! Away from all this Vymir shit! I knew that you were a natural Vymir user from the day I first saw you as a baby! But now... it's already too late... and it's my fault! I've distanced myself so far from you that I lost track of you... and you went to the last place I wanted you to go... I JUST WANTED YOU... OUT OF OUR 3 TO HAVE A NORMAL LIFE!" We both started crying like babies.

"I love you, grandpa! Please! Accept me!"

"I love you too, Shoji... you're my grandson... it's impossible not to love you!"

Some time later our grandparents left and I sat on the couch next to Kaori and patted her on the head. The table was already gone.

"He,y Kaori."

"Hm?" She looked at me curiously.

"Listen I'm sorry... and thanks for inviting them here."

"No problem... I did it just for you, big brother... I just couldn't stand your relations with Grandpa... I've seen how sad you were when I mentioned him so I needed to do something." She smiled kindly.

"I love you, don't ever dare to forget that" I hugged her tightly.

She hugged me back. "Never doubted it big brother."

Layla walked into the room, clad in a tight pajama which was totally too small for her. The button on the chest was fighting for its life.

"I think that it's time to go to sleep, goodnight~!" Kaori left the living room and headed to her room.

Layla sat down on the couch next to me, blushing like insane out of embarrassment.

"Hey, Layla."

"H-huh? W-what?" She looked at me.

"I'm sorry, for the thing I said earlier... I would really love to be your friend." I smiled at her.

"Really...? Do you want to be my friend? Y-you know how much it means to me...? I-I..." tears started running down her cheeks.

"Hey, why you cryin'? Did I say something wrong?! If I did then I'm sorry! I'm really serious tho! I want you to become my friend!" I reached over to wipe her tears.

She then wrapped her arms around my neck and hugged me tightly. I felt her breasts pressing up against my chest.

"You really... really... don't know... how much that means to me... I'm so happy... that I could die.... finally... I got my first friend... back... haha... I'm so happy!" Her bangs moved away from her eyes for a second, I saw her closed eyes, and her beautiful long eyelashes.

I just hugged her back, enjoying the boobdraulic press. "I'm happy for you, I guess... now calm down a little, or you'll drown me in your tears, Layla." I giggled softly.
