018- Forgiveness

I opened my eyes, meeting the sight of two pink ones.

"You have finally woken, you bastard~..." She sighed

"Huh?"

"Why are you still lying on the ground? You could've killed me, or just ran away." I asked curiously.

Carmilla sighed and rolled her eyes. "I'm paralyzed, you idiot. Have you ever used light magic on a demon or heard what it does?"

"Uh... I just thought that it damages demons more than any other magic...?" I said, getting up slowly.

"You're foolish, Shoji." She sighed and closed her eyes.

"Just do it... I'm unarmed and I have no way of doing anything... finish me." She said in defeat.

"Just tell me, Shoji... how? I know I was overconfident... I even lowered my Vymir output to somewhere around your level so it would be fair..."

I put the uniform on, and I took her on my back.

"What are you doing?! You've won! Just kill me already!" She said loudly in frustration.

I left all the pieces of shattered mirrors and the big one back in the alley and started to walk down the streets with her on my back.

"Oh shut the fuck up, Carmilla! Yes! I would kill you if you were a stranger! I won't deny it!"

"Then what keeps you from doing so?! I wanted to kill you! I will kill you as soon as I regain control over my body!" She bit my shoulder.

I plugged her nose and flicked her forehead.

"Oh please, Carmilla! Just stop! I can tell if you want to kill me or not! I'm not THAT stupid! Besides your horns are gone. Just shut the fuck up and I'll take you to someone who might know a way to speed up your healing."

"Why? Why do you want to help me after all that!" She screamed in frustration.

"Because you're our fucking friend! And also Haruki's girl now! Haruki is like a brother to me, I can't do it to him, nor I can't do it to you! I've already told you that I want to become a better person! I crave this warmth that's always around when you're helping someone! I even feel it right now! So shut the fuck up if you don't have anything good to say, alright?!" I lashed out at her out of annoyance.

"Okay, fine! Then I have more questions! I want to know how did you do that?! How did you defeat me!?"

"Finally a good question, so I can't do anything, but answer it~!"

"I've spent the past two days training under the priest of the nearby church. Haruki was there with me and it was a real torture... tho we managed to learn Vymir Enhancement and Aura Manipulation in one night!"

"ONE NIGHT?! WHAT!? NOO! IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO SO IN ONE NIGHT! IT TOOK ME ABOUT TWO WEEKS TO LEARN IT WHEN I WAS A KID!" She screamed in amazement.

"God! Shut up, Carmilla!" I flicked her head.

"Ouch... but who exactly is that priest? He must be some kind of godly teacher!"

"Nope, you're wrong! You're in such a denial~! That old man is a psycho! He's beaten us up on the first training, and on the second put our lives in danger!"

"I still just can't comprehend how have you managed to defeat me... It's so frustrating... a prideful noble like me... defeated by a stupid human with Authority Type 1...!" She started pouting.

"Y'know... I barely got any sleep tonight..."

"Why?"

"Because I was experimenting with spells and I've found out a thing that helped me with defeating you in the end~"

"I mean, you wouldn't care anyway, right~? You wouldn't care about what I have found out."

She rolled her eyes and spoke in a serious tone. "No, you're wrong, Shoji. When it comes to spells I want to know everything... it's crucial in achieving my dream..." She smiled softly.

"Hmm? A dream? What is your dream, Bubblegum?"

"Hey! Stop calling me Bubblegum!" She huffed.

"I want to become the greatest demonic witch ever..."

"The greatest mages in history were demons who were born into my family... my ancestors... I have an older sister... she's been always laughing at how weak I am... I mean she has Authority Type 5 and I have Authority Type 3..."

"So she's the first in line, right?" I asked curiously.

"Yeah... I want to prove her wrong! I want to become the head of the family! I want to become the greatest witch!"

I giggled softly and she bit my shoulder in frustration.

"Don't laugh at my dreams, you stupid creepy bastard!"

"No... no! You get me wrong! It just made me laugh because I know that with enough hard work, you'll become the greatest witch ever!"

I tried to encourage her but...

"Hearing that from you just lowers my motivation... ugh! How pathetic I have become to talk about my dream with you out of all people." She closed her eyes in frustration and embarrassment.

"Light magic disappears with a flash of Holy Light."

"What? What are you talking about?"

"That's the thing I've found out and also the thing that saved my life in the end."

"What? But a simple flash of Holy Light reflected by a stupid mirror wouldn't be able to paralyze me!"

"All the small pieces of the shattered mirrors were enhanced with Hilo hehe~"

"I created the bullet with Hilo in a way that it would shatter before hitting the mirror, then it shot the light, the big mirror reflected it towards the shattered pieces, and the pieces were activated, shooting their holy light."

"Huh? What? That's impossible to do for someone who has Authority Type 1!"

"Wait... now that I think about it... you've cast three spells... even tho a person with Authority Type 1 can only cast up to two before losing consciousness!"

"My Vymir is regenerating very very fast, y'know! That's why I didn't attend classes today. I spent the whole day setting up this trap!"

"How did you know that I wouldn't notice the mirror?"

"The fact is that I didn't it was all a gamble! I tried to make you as overconfident as possible! In the beginning, I shot the bullet which you blocked easily showing the massive gap between you and me. Setting the trap in a dark alley also wasn't a random decision, I thought that it'll make you remember our encounter from Wednesday and it seems I wasn't wrong."

She was too stunned to speak but broke the silence after a moment.

"One more thing..." She said quietly.

"Shoot," I replied, smirking slightly.

"How did you use the Ice Spell that I created...?"

"Oh! It's quite weird, and I still don't understand it myself, but Sebas once told me that I can cast that I've never seen practiced, but I need to know the incantation."

"Really... that's OP!" She said in amazement.

"Nah, it isn't, there's one big downside."

"What downside?"

"I've noticed that every time I use a new spell, my output control is so bad that I accidentally spend my entire Vymir on it... it sucks because I lose my consciousness... and if I was to do it in the middle of a battle, it would probably be my last resort attack."

"You know what does that mean, Carmilla?"

"No...?"

"I didn't win. It was a draw~"

About 20 minutes later we were at the plebistery. I was sitting on an armchair.

Sebastian was walking around the table I laid Carmilla on.

"Ouch!" She squeaked as he did something to her.

"I still can't believe that you brought a demon to me expecting me to help it. I mean, how did it even end up in this state?" Sebastian rolled his eyes.

"Hey! I have a name! It's Carmilla! I wasn't given a Noble name just to be called a 'demon', but if you insist then at least call me a 'noble demon'." Carmilla said in frustration.

Sebas rolled his eyes. "A Noble one at that." He added.

"I told you that she is my and Haruki's friend, Sebas! Just cure her! I want to go home, I'm tired as fuck!" I sighed deeply, leaning back on the armchair.

And then Sebastian finally realized one simple thing that was missing from the puzzle. "Don't tell me that she was the reason that was behind your eagerness to learn how to face a demon."

"Fuck you, Sebas! In the end, you haven't taught me shit about exorcising a demon! You fucking closed the two of us in a room with a monster! We almost died there!"

"Shoji... what do you mean 'The two of us'?" Carmilla asked, but no one listened to her.

"Oh please, Shoji-kun! You're alive! Aren't you, you ungrateful brat!? You still haven't understood what is my way of teaching, huh?!" Sebas said in annoyance, doing something wrong to Carmilla's body by accident.

"Ouch!" She squeaked in pain again.

I stood up, stomping on the ground. "Oh! Co ty se kurwa myślisz ty pojebańcu?! I understand that you want to teach us certain things in the quickest way possible, but you could at least give us a fucking clue and stop playing a maze as if we are some fucking clueless children!" I screamed at him, clutching the fabric of my uniform in frustration.

Sebastian started laughing. "Hahhaahah! That's the fucking point! You two are some fucking clueless children! How long do you even know that such a thing as Vymir exists, huh?! Yes! Exactly! You know it since Monday, just because I fucking told you, you stupid Brat!" He hit the table with his fist near Carmilla's head.

She started shaking in fear and spoke in a fearful tone. "Hey... you two calm down a li-..."

"SHUT THE FUCK UP, CARMILLA!" We both screamed in unison.

"Jeez... okay..." She muttered under her nose, pouting a little.

I sat down on the armchair yet again and then fell into silence.

Some time passed and Carmilla finally jumped off the table and shook Sebastian's hand gratefully.

"Thank you sooo much, Father!" She said with a grateful tone and a big smile on her face.

"No problem, child." He replied softly with a smile on his face.

I stood up from the armchair with a gloomy expression on my face.

"Come on let's go, Carmilla." I rolled my eyes and headed towards the door.

"Finee~!" She left the room.

"Hey Shoji-kun!" Sebastian said loudly with a smile on his face.

"What. Do. You. Want?" I said annoyed out of my mind.

"Visit me from time to time with Haruki, I still want to teach you a lot of things, you cannot waste your potential." He said kindly.

"Ehh... Fine... Whatever... See ya, you stupid excuse of a priest~" I said playfully and left the room.

After some time of walking home, we've reached the point where we split.

Carmilla looked at me but avoided my eyes.

"Hey Shoji, before we go our ways... I wanted to say something..." She said shyly.

"Oh? That's a weird sight... never seen Carmilla like this before..."

"Hmm? What's the matter?" I asked curiously.

She bowed her head. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry for trying to kill you... Can we still be friends? The three of us...? I mean... I'm with Haruki already... but I feel really bad for what I've been trying to do... could you... perhaps forgive me... for trying to kill you?" She looked away as her cheeks got red out of eembarrassment

"Haha... she feels bad... I mean... what can I do when I see this side of her..."

"What are you talking about, Carmilla~? Trying to kill me, haha~? It never happened~!" I said, rolling my eyes playfully.

She smiled. "Okay... thanks..."

I get the warm feeling again and I can't help but smile myself.

"See ya on Monday, Carmilla!"

"Yeah! See you, you creepy bastard~!"

And then we went our ways. The conflict is no more.

After some time when I was back home, I walked into Kaori's room. She was sleeping, but as I was walking towards her, she slowly woke up.

"What's de... matter... bruder... its 1 AM..." She said in a sleepy voice as she rubbed her eyes.

I crouched next to her bed and hugged her tightly.

"Do not ever forget that I love you Kaori... Brother loves you more than anyone else." I kissed her forehead softly.

Her eyes reddened slightly. "W-Why... so suddenly?!"

Later in the middle of the night, Carmilla woke up, clutching her pajama. Her eyes were wide and her mouth hung open.
