I woke up on my knees, a blindfold was covering my eyes.
"Hello? Guys, chill! It's not that big of a deal!" I tried to move my hands, but they were handcuffed behind my back.
"Aww, man~!" I sighed softly.
"Hey, Lilith? Are you there?" I asked.
"Yep~! I'm here! Guessing by the direction it is coming from, I'm on your right!" She said.
"Are your eyes also covered?" I asked.
"Yeahhh... I'm scared that someone will touch me inappropriately~!" She giggled softly.
"I have an idea. Can you lie your head down next to my hands?"
"Why~?"
"I know how to pick a lock with a Bobby pin... and I believe that you have one of them in your hair," I said.
"Hmmm... sounds good, I guess~?" She laid down on the ground, putting the back of her head on my hands.
I started to search for the pin throughout her hair.
"Ahh~! It feels like you're caressing meeee~... it's soo nice ~!" She smiled softly.
I finally found the pin and instantly pulled it out of her hair.
"Fuck... it will be hard doing this while being blinded... tho I've practiced a lot of times... besides I can enhance my mind with Vymir..."
I started picking the lock slowly.
Lilith sat up and yawned softly. One of her low buns totally fell apart.
"My poor hair~!" She groaned.
The Bobby pin broke.
"Fuck! Fuck this is impossible to do while being blindfolded, not to mention that I've never picked a lock on a pair of handcuffs!" I groaned in frustration.
"Wait-! Is someone there?!" Lilith asked loudly.
"What are you doing, Lilith? You know that someone must be there watching us, after all, there's no way that they would leave two people-..." I sighed softly as I realized.
"Who's there?!" I joined in.
Someone took the blindfolds off our eyes.
We were in a huge office.
Lilith's eyes widened as she looked down at the ground in shame.
I looked at the person who was standing in front of us, a firm and serious look on his face.
His eyes were crimson, he was tall, somewhere around 190 cm tall, and his hair was crimson just like his eyes.
He was clad in a black suit and had a badge hanging on his neck, right above his red tie.
A shiver ran down my spine as I made eye contact with him. I started shaking out of fear.
"Hello, Nakamura Shoji."
I looked away in fear. "What the fuck... is he doing this on purpose?! I don't know what exactly this intense feeling is... but I'm fucking scared... I want to puke!"
"Good... e-evening?" I said with uncertainty.
"Not so good, kid, not so good." The man sighed, rolling his eyes.
He then looked over at Lilith, taking out the access card that we were using. "So that's where my card was? I'm disappointed in you, Lilith." He said.
She looked up at him with tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry papa! I-... I would never... do something like this! I just wanted a friend! And... w-we even managed to fi-..."
"Silence." He said coldly.
"I'm the one speaking, not you." He added.
"That's her father?! This man?!"
I looked at them, biting through my fear. "But she's saying the truth! I was the one who asked her to do it! I bet that if she wasn't so desperate... she would never do it!" I said loudly.
The man looked at me coldly. "Even if it's the truth, she stole the elixirs and my access card a while ago without any influence."
I clenched my teeth in frustration and I looked at Lilith with sadness.
"Fuck... fuck everything! Why is it always ending up in the worst way possible?! I just wanted to help my friend... and now someone is crying because I dragged her into everything!"
I looked up at him. "So what now... you will kill me and lock your daughter up...?" I asked in fear.
Lilith stopped crying and she looked down at the ground again.
"Oh please! Don't be silly, you little brat! The law forces me to wait for at least one of the Leaders... and I think that..." He smirked.
The sound of huge doors opening echoed throughout the room and a strong shiver immediately ran down my spine.
Three people walked into the room. A woman with long pink hair clad in a cyan dress, a muscular blonde-haired man clad in a white robe, and there's no mistake judging by those blue eyes and gray hair, the third person is no one else than Mr. Muraoka himself.
"GRAMPS?!" I said in disbelief, my mouth hung open.
He waved softly. "Hello, Shoji-kun~! You just can't stop getting into trouble, huh?" He giggled softly.
"Uhh... Shoji... I don't think that's the per-..." Lilith then stopped speaking as the woman walked up to me.
She squeezed my cheeks softly, smiling playfully. "Hello, Shoji-kun~! It's been so loooong since I saw you last time! How is everything going? I've heard that you're causing a loooot of trouble lately~! Make sure that you'll not be a bad influence on my little princess~!" She smiled widely, her eyes gleaming with happiness.
"Uhh... sorry miss... but I believe we haven't met before...?" I looked into her eyes, fighting against the urge to take a glance at her chest.
"Ohh~? I believe you do! Try to remember! Come onnnn~!" She said cheerfully.
Lilith's father just stood there, his eyes wide in confusion. "Huh...? What's going on?!" He said in frustration.
Everything and everyone went silent as the blonde-haired man walked up to Lilith's Father.
"Why did you put handcuffs on their hands, little Rusweld?" He asked calmly, his voice filled with power and authority.
His fingers started glowing red, he flicked them and the handcuffs just disappeared from our from out wrists.
"Huh?!"
"Oh... they have-..." Before he could even fully respond he was cut off.
The woman looked over at Rusweld, a stern look on her face as she frowned slightly. "Nothing like this would happen if the people who were somehow hired in Ebonhold were at least slightly smarter than an average monkey, don't you think so, Rus-kun~?" Her voice was cruel and sweet at the same time, and it made me remember who she was.
"I mean, Rosalia's got a good point, Rusweld-kun." Mr. Muraoka giggled.
"I remember now! You are Carmilla's mother! I'm sure I've seen you once when I was in middle school!" I looked up at her.
She looked down at me and hugged me to her chest. "Oh~! That's so sweet~! You're so sweet~! I want to steal you away! Tho I know my little princess would be maad~!" She pouted.
She then looked over at Lilith.
"Oh~! Lily~!" She walked up to her and kissed her all over her face.
Lilith blushed and smiled in embarrassment.
"Lady Hoshino... uhh... I'm..." Rosalia placed her finger on Lilith's lips.
"Shhh~ You're also very cute~! Does my little princess bully you in school~? I heard that you two are in the same class~!"
I looked around the room in utter confusion, the blonde man was talking with Lilith's father as if he was about to kick him out of there while his daughter was pampered by the mother of the person who hates her the most.
I slowly stood up. "The fuck is going on here?!" I muttered to myself.
Mr. Muraoka patted my shoulder. "You see, Shoji-kun... they might call demons, but we are not so different from you humans. We love, we hate, we suffer... tho I'm sure you've already noticed it, haven't you?" He smiled softly.
I looked down on the ground. "Layla..."
"Hey, Gramps... something was on my mind lately and I cannot stop thinking about it..." I looked at him.
"What is it?" He asked.
"Okay! Everyone silence! I want to talk to the kids!" The blonde-haired demon said loudly, clapping his hands.
Mr. Muraoka stepped away from me and Rosalia stopped pampering Lilith, also taking a step away from her.
"Uhh... no offense... but who are you, sir?" I asked curiously.
Lilith ran up to me and covered my mouth, her eyes wide in terror and she forced me on my knees.
She kneeled, bowing her head before him.
"I'm so sorry for him, my king! He's a human! He doesn't know anything about the rulers! Please forgive him!" She pleaded and forced me to bow.
The demon laughed loudly and smirked.
"Very well then! My name is Lucifer and I am The King of The Underworld." He said.
I raised my head and for the first time looked into his eyes.
"Those eyes... red like two pools of blood... those eyes... are the same as that girl's... as the eyes of the person who cursed me!"
"I've waited a long time to see you, little Nakamura." He added.
"Waited to see me? Why?" I asked curiously.
"I've heard a lot about you lately." He poked my forehead. "A simple human yet managed to learn how to use Vymir, exorcise a heretic, defeat a Noble, enter The Underworld, and infiltrate Ebonhold... in less than two weeks..." He smirked again.
Lilith looked at me with amazement. "Y-You did?! I thought that you're like... uhh... very experienced with Vymir!" She said.
Rusweld was about to say something, but Lucifer raised his hand to stop him.
"You know... we... Carmilla and I talked a little bit on the detention and she told me that you can use both Light and Dark Magic at the same time!" She smiled with excitement.
Rusweld stepped forward, a sword appeared in his right hand and he put the tip to my neck. "Is that true?" He asked coldly.
Rosalia's eyes started glowing faintly.
"Fuck... this won't work..."
A shiver ran down my spine as I looked down at the tip, cold sweat running down my forehead. "N-No... of course not haha! Is she kidding? Right? Lilith?" I smiled at her nervously.
Lilith covered her mouth, her eyes wide as she realized that she said something she shouldn't.
"Uhh... yes! Yes! I like to joke around haha... I'm so silly!" She let out a forced giggle.
Rusweld looked over at Rosalia. "What do you think about it, Lady Hoshino?" He asked.
"They're lying right now~!" She giggled softly.
"This woman can see when someone is lying... just like Carmila does!"
"I mean! Ehh... I should've expected that, after all, Carmilla has two Mutations..."
I raised my hands. "Wait! Wait! I'm sorry, okay? I'm sorry for lying! But what's wrong with using both Dark and Light magic, huh?!" I said in frustration.
A shiver ran down my spine. Suddenly I was 2 metres away from Rusweld.
"What the hell just happened?! I couldn't see or feel anything... it's like I just... puff!"
Lucifer rolled his eyes and Rosalia giggled softly.
"What the hell happened?!" I looked up and saw Mr. Muraoka holding the back of my collar.
Lilith turned her head towards me, watching in terror.
"What do you think you're doing, Rusweld?" He said coldly.
"I'm trying to get rid of the anomaly, just like the law says I should, and you're preventing me from doing so, my Lord." He said, pointing the sword at me.
"You won't kill this kid, I won't allow you to." Mr. Muraoka smirked.
I looked up at him. "Gramps..."
"I'm soooo glad that I met Gramps that day... otherwise I would be dead by now..." I rolled my eyes. "I mean... I don't know if I would be dead... the curse may have been temporary... or worked in a different way than I initially thought.... no! Who cares! I just don't want to die! No one wants to die!"
Mr. Muraoka patted me on the head. "Don't be scared, Shoji-kun. Nothing's bad gonna happen to you, you're too interesting to just throw away." He smiled softly.
"Huh?! He's talking about me as if I'm an object!"
Rusweld raised his sword, pointing it at Mr. Muraoka. "I don't care if you're one of The Underworld's Leaders, you're violating the law so I need to arrest you."
"Very well then. The chief of Gate Control can be always replaced, but a Leader can't." Mr. Muraoka said coldly as he raised his hand.
"Papa, no!" Lilith hugged Rusweld tightly as she broke down into tears.
"Please... don't do it! Please! Papa! Who cares?! Who cares if his existence is against the law?! He's not even a demon, so why would our law cover him in the first place?!" She cried even more, pleading for him to stop.
I just stared helplessly at how is she begging. I looked at the tip of the sword.
"She's suffering because of me... I made her do all that... but if I just... walk into it... then everything will be alright as she will forget the reason behind her sadness..."
"Just what kind of guy am I, huh?! I'm not searching for love and everyone knows that... but in the end, I always hurt the girls around me... I couldn't do it with Selira... I lashed out at Layla for no reason at all... and I've made Lilith break the law..."
I grabbed my hair. "Why am I... so fucking bad?! I want to be good! To be better than the scumbag I am! But everything goes against my will... and it's so... fucking pathetic! I just keep breaking everyone and everything around me! Why?! Why?!" I teared up and started sobbing softly.
Lucifer was watching everything in silence, an annoyed look on his face.
Rosalia finally spoke, her voice cold and cruel. "Do you see what you did, Rusweld Nightshade?! The kids are both crying because of you! How dare you!?" She walked up to him, her eyes were full of fury.
Rusweld's sword suddenly shattered in half.
A couple of shivers ran down my spine as the atmosphere got somehow even more heavy.
I looked up at Mr. Muraoka, wiping my tears in confusion. "Why doesn't the Demon King just stop them? Isn't that dangerous?" I asked.
Lilith hid behind Lucifer, still crying.
"Lady Rosalia... we already let two anomalies live here... one of them is useless and has no worth, and the other one is a walking calamity, a bomb that can explode without any warning!" He said with frustration.
Lucifer just sighed, rolling his eyes in annoyance.
"Ronan Veyne's sister is alive..." I stood up, looking at the floor.
Everyone looked at me in confusion.
"What do you mean, you brat?" Rusweld said coldly.
"She's alive... and she's even more dangerous than him..." I clenched my fist.
Mr. Muraoka raised his eyebrows. "Nope, that's impossible, Shoji-kun. She was killed by Ronan Veyne a long time ago."
"Exactly, there is no possibility of living in The Underworld without having an identity, and if she did use her identity, then we would know that she's alive," Lucifer said.
"Unless she had a new one..." I looked into his eyes.
Rusweld walked up to me and grabbed me by the collar, pressing me against the wall.
"Do you know that after lying to the Leaders of The Underworld you will pay with your life?" He said coldly, looking into my eyes.
I started shaking uncontrollably.
"Fuck... fuck... he's gonna kill me! He's gonna kill me!"
I looked over at Rosalia with terror. "Mrs. Hoshino! I swear to God! I'm not lying! Everything I said is true!"
Rosalia's eyes started glowing and then she looked over at Lucifer in confusion. "He's saying the truth. Even I don't understand how, but it is what it is." She said softly.
Rusweld released me and I dropped onto the ground.
I took a couple of deep breaths of relief.
"How do you know all of that? My guards found you searching for something on the computer that's on the 666th floor of Ebonhold, but the information there is the literal opposite of what you said." Rusweld looked down at me.
Lilith finally wiped her tears and spoke up loudly. "He was... He was interrogating Ronan Veyne!" She closed her eyes.
The atmosphere shifted to one of surprise, even Rusweld was surprised.
"Is that true? No... no... that can't be... if it was truth then you would be dead before you could even realize it..." Rusweld took a step back, his voice full of confusion.
"She wasn't lying..." Rosalia said.
Mr. Muraoka looked at me. "Have you felt anything weird since you talked to him? This man can curse just by saying a word." He said with worry.
I slowly got on my feet. "He tried to curse me many times... but it just didn't work... just as if I was immune to it... and then... after I used light magic on him for some time... he finally gave up.... and told me that he sold his sister to a Noble, tho he doesn't remember his name..." I said quietly.
I looked at them, hatred in my eyes. "I want to find his sister... I want to find that whore and kill her... there's no other way to save him..."
"Save who?" Rosalia asked.
"Save my best friend! She cursed him! He was fighting her and eventually ran out of Vymir... and then she cursed him with a weird curse that prevented his Vymir from regenerating! I want to fucking kill her for what she did!" I said loudly with so much hatred that it even surprised Lilith.
"That's the reason behind us sneaking into Ebenhold... to find out who she is... but in the end... we found nothing..." I looked down at the ground in frustration.
The corners of Rusweld's lips slowly raised and he started giggling. He smiled at Lilith and then at me. He patted me on the shoulder.
"Huh?" I looked up at him in confusion. "What's wrong with him? Wasn't he like... serious and cold?"
"Do you think you've found nothing?! Hahaha~!" He then looked at Lilith. "I was wrong about you and your friend, Lily. You two did a great job! I mean... you two broke the law, which I will never support... but in the end, it turned out to be a good idea! Now that we have found out about Ronan's sister, we can prevent many people from dying~!" He said cheerfully.
Lilith's eyes widened in surprise and she smiled softly. "So there won't be any consequences?!" She asked with hope.
"No," Lucifer said coldly.
A shiver ran down my spine as he continued speaking.
"The punishment for sneaking into Ebonhold is death." He added as coldly as before.
I looked at Mr. Muraoka. "Gramps?!"
Mr. Muraoka just sighed softly, looking away.
Rosalia just looked down on the ground.
Lilith's eyes widened in terror. "Papa?!" She said loudly, looking at Rusweld.
Rusweld closed his eyes.
Lucifer grabbed Lilith's hand and dragged her to me. "PLEASE NO! PLEASE! I'M SORRY! I'M SO SORRY! I WILL NEVER DO ANYTHING LIKE THIS AGAIN! PLEASE! MY LORD DON'T KILL ME!" She screamed in terror as she started crying again.
He stood before us, slowly raising his hand.
I closed my eyes accepting my fate. "I don't want to die... I don't... but this is what I get... I was thinking that a demon would just forgive me like that..."
Suddenly I felt someone's hand on my head.
We both opened our eyes in surprise.
Lucifer was smiling and patting us on the heads, Mr. Muraoka was giggling, Rosalia was smiling softly and Rusweld was sighing.
"Tho since you two are so stupid, I will let you go with a warning, okay?" He said kindly.
"Huh?!" I looked at Lilith and then at him.
Lilith hugged him tightly, crying out of happiness. "Thank you! Thank you, my Lord! Thank you!"
I leaned away from his hand, rolling my eyes. "Tsk... I'm not a dog to be pet..."
Rosalia clapped her hands and smiled cheerfully. "Okay! I think it's time for the kids to go home~! After all, it's getting dark, no~?"
"Yes, Lady Rosalia is right, adults need to talk, so it's best for you two to go home," Rusweld said and a portal appeared on the wall behind us.
Lilith broke the hug and leaned away from Lucifer, slowly standing up with a soft smile on her face.
"I understand, Papa." She then bowed respectfully. "We will be going, thank you for so much indulgence, we will never do anything like this ever again." She then took my hand.
"Wait! Before we go... I want to ask the last question!" I said.
"Very well then, ask whatever you want, kid," Lucifer said kindly.
"So basically... I have a friend... her name is Layla... she's a demoness... but there are rumors that she killed many people without a reason... and that everyone hates her for it... I just want to know... if those rumors are true..." I looked down at the floor.
Lucifer's smile faded and he sighed softly. "Those rumors are true. The girl you're talking about actually killed those people, but it wasn't really what she really wanted to do. This girl is an anomaly, we needed to place a limiter on her power so she would only use it in self-defense, or to help someone, but not to hurt... that's why we know that the people who were killed by her were earlier threatening her."
"She killed some people... and that's why everyone hates her, huh?"
I looked up at him. "Why wasn't this revealed to the public!? This girl is feared and hated now!" I asked with frustration.
Mr. Muraoka sighed softly and Lucifer looked over at him.
"This is not public because it would make even more people fear her... because of her power... she's even dangerous to us... that's why we called her 'The Calamity'." He said softly.
I looked down on the ground.
"Murder is a murder... she's a murderer and she cannot redeem herself... you should leave her Yokubo, let her rot..."
