The fatigue began to be felt after all the things that had happened so far. All the work, all the walking, and all the chirping and blowing heard everywhere had helped me to keep my eyes up to now, so now, as the sun began to move towards sunset, everything became so quiet that even the wind stopped whistling. I decided to try to take a nap on one of the floors.
I probably collected everything that was there and started to move down the stairs and the first door I found on the way down, I entered, into a floor that was, as expected, empty of everything. I walked around the floor until I found an empty and dark room and decided to close my eyes for a bit. I didn't notice how long I slept until I finally found myself waking up to the sounds of the tweets again. I left the room and it was already getting dark through the window space. I turned on the headlights and started to collect all my things while the chirping just continued to be heard throughout the place. The whole way down was easier, especially with all the weight I was carrying up until now. It encouraged me to move downstairs as the chirps started to get weaker with each floor I went down, especially since all the energy I had gained from the long nap gave me only added to my desire to go downstairs, and in the process I already found myself at the bottom of the stairwell next to the broken bones. It felt peaceful with all that was left of the tweets being just a faint echo.
I passed by them without hesitation but suddenly a large red dot began to light up on the helmet screen, showing the movement of something large in the area outside the structure rotating around it:
"Be careful Colin!" She sounded in a lower tone than usual
I already understood the matter and started moving gently back up, realizing that it could be a very dangerous situation if I moved forward. I tried to be careful not to step on the broken bones and moved up, but the ground point is still approaching the building. I continued to go back but suddenly I hear loud breaking sounds coming from below and the sounds of walking are only getting stronger. Out of panic, I entered the nearest floor I could find. Inside it surprisingly was a small number of pieces of furniture intended for storage, but holding almost nothing. I started trying to hide in it while the red dot moved around the area before suddenly, the dot disappeared completely from the helmet screen.
I stayed there hiding for a few moments before I started moving towards the stairwell, and just to be safe, I found a piece of concrete and threw it down the stairs. The sound of the pops and explosions was heard as the fracture rolled down but then all the noises stopped and in its wake, nothing unusual was heard or detected.
"No danger was detected in the area of the building" Rosalina reported
"That's good, but I'm not satisfied. We'll try to stay here in the structure for a while. Try to find anything suspicious, even the smallest"
"Positive"
I moved back into the floor and among the furniture, I started to try my luck and maybe find something that would help me. I opened them one by one, but there was nothing. To try to pass the remaining time until morning, I forced myself to sleep more. It was difficult trying to sleep especially as I fear the cause of the storm is still in the area, but boredom caught up with me and put me to sleep until the early hours of the morning.
The second time I started to go down the stairs and pass by the remains that were lying at the bottom of the stairs before I left it and I noticed thanks to the light that peeked out from the outside that a large space had been created where the front door had been. I decided to find another way out of the place and went to the second hole I saw when I first entered it. Glancing at it, I saw that it led to a long corridor and was also a bit scratchy. I decided to enter through it and it eventually led me to a large and wide room. The sun was right in front of me and Rosalina activated the solar filter following this and then I saw in turn better what was happening: the whole room was covered with dry grass and a few trees that all turned into the only source of light.
I walked through all the vegetation that grew inside the structure until I couldn't recognize what was there before. And in front of me was another, bigger hole that led to the outside. This is the other exit for me and I started to move toward it. Within a few steps, suddenly the entire helmet screen was filled with red:
"back away!" She made a loud tone that on my right started to move and I just started to run and jump towards the exit when I heard a big boom coming from behind me. A roar started coming from him and I started running as fast as I could, arming the plasma rifle with what was left of my current cartridge. Footsteps have begun to be heard and they are rapidly approaching.
"He's moving too fast! I can't escape!" I yelled before noticing that I was already out into the large patch of grass that had spread out earlier, or rather what used to be the ramp. The weight of all the gear on me made it especially hard for me to run and I'm afraid he'll catch up with me before I could find a place to hide. Rosalina started to fill in a lot of information about him while the scan range should be close enough to get information about him, but I didn't dare wait for information until I was eaten by him. I don't know how big it is and how it came out of nowhere. I threw the equipment on top of me to the side while running and I can only hear his steps getting closer. Very heavy steps for someone who feels that he is fast until I already started to see his shadow and decided to roll to the side at the exact critical moment when I heard him pushing against the ground and the grass. All the dust created by this began to disperse and I finally meet him face to face:
A much larger animal than I had previously thought, standing on two stiff legs that seem to be adapted for running and having two tiny hands. Up to this point, he looks just like a huge dinosaur chasing me, but with a glance, the imagination ends here with his two eyes protruding from the side like those of a dragonfly and a body that is completely covered in an external armor that resembles a huge and overgrown lizard. And not to mention that I can see the long rows of his teeth wanting to dig into me, like a row of saws, and two tentacles coming out of the sides of his mouth, I was almost trying to decide what I was up against or whether I wanted to scream or not. He started throwing his huge mouth in my direction and I started rolling on the grass, causing the spike of his head to miss me and get stuck in the ground so to speak. I took the opportunity and aimed my gun straight at his eyes and released the first shot.

The bullet was fired with incredible speed, but it hit the outer armor and bounced off, leaving only a small black mark behind. I was surprised that not only did I miss, but the bullet also bounced off his armor. He quickly came to his senses before one of his tentacles started moving in my direction. I tried to get up and walk away but they were too fast and managed to grab my leg and pull me. I pulled out a knife and started trying to cut with it, but it turned out that this tentacle is also covered in the same hard armor, unable to penetrate it, even with all the heat the knife creates.
"Oh no!" I screamed before this creature could get up and offer the tentacle with me straight to its mouth.
Time felt slow, but I'm not ready to give up easily I aimed my weapon at the wide and full mouth of the two and fired the second shot and it managed to hit right in his mouth he roared in pain and released me and walked away. His big black eyes didn't allow me to tell what was going on with him before I tried to fire a third time, but the cartridge quickly ran out. He was drooling a bit bluish but he seemed to ignore it and quickly recovered before he started charging toward me again. I did the same routine of a roller before I fell from an improper execution, but it was enough to get away.
"Data has been decoded successfully" Rosalina replied and started to show me on the side a model of the same creature or monster and with it she started to show pictures of creatures that resemble it. I didn't have time to concentrate on it.
"Can you tell me if he has any weakness that I can push or at least kill him?" I shouted a little while trying to get up from the bottom. He did the same thing and yelled at me, not wanting to let go of me. He opened his mouth a little, but he started charging at me again and I started to run, even though I felt the energy I had earlier started to wane.
"His eyes are the most vulnerable place, but you have to take it all off, try to aim for his eye socket" she said
"But I'm out of ammo!" Just as I said these words, I remembered that there was more in the equipment I had set aside. The creature started to jump on the spot and I try to roll over but it stopped and threw its tentacles back on the spot, catching me off guard.
"He smart!" I screamed these words and try again to stab his tentacles but without success. He gently began to sacrifice me to his teeth and released him. I fell straight towards his mouth. His large mouth full of teeth covering it will probably be the last thing I see, but I just collided with them and they fail to crack the suit and I'm holding one of the teeth in my hand, as if I'm holding it between the fall of an alligator, trying to make the dust between life and death. He has trouble getting me deep and threw his tentacles in my direction. I notice the gap between his armor as I hold one of the two and throw my knives straight into the gap catching one of them. He roared in pain and threw me right out while I was holding one of his tentacles. I try to hold on but he started to fall and I let go and pushed with my legs to the side and managed to land on my feet without problems.
I took the opportunity of his head on the ground and jumped right on his eyes and he started to rise and try to shake me hard. His tentacles can't reach me while I grab his eye sockets and cut them with my knives and take them off. He started roaring and I lose my grip and fall to the ground hard. The landing hurt me badly while the creature that had lost one of its big eyes pulled back and ran away bleeding. I heard how his steps got further and further away from me while I didn't pick myself up from the ground and it hurt.
I felt a sense of victory in the face of death. While the sun continued to shine on my face. After a short time of lying on the grassy surface, I had fallen to, I got up and looked around me, and I did not see him again.
"Rosalina, can you introduce what this thing is again?!"
"Positive" She quickly opened it in front of my entire screen while I try to check if there is any damage to my suit. Luckily, he didn't have a strong jaw so he wouldn't have been able to easily break my suit or crush me. She presented the data she had collected and showed some pictures of creatures she had in the database. One picture showed something that looked like the infamous dinosaur T. rex, but it was written as Giganotosaurus, and two more pictures of large and strange snails that were written Anomlocaris and Aegirocassis respectively. But what surprises me is that there is also one picture that made me worry a little:
"Did it contain human genes?" I asked her while looking at this picture
"Positive. This animal contained physiological processes that indicate an intelligence very similar to that of humans"
"So you want to tell me that I just fought for my life against a human in the costume of a dinosaur monster - a strange mess?"
"Not necessarily. This is her life unknown to science, if in space and we also changed some points of processes that came from an unknown source - for example, his ability to lower his body temperature, which allowed him to evade the thermal scanner that is installed at my place and get into the situation that you are encountering now. And this is not the result of Genetic engineering" She directed the last sentence at me.
This fact gave me even more chills, raising the big question of what happened to humans - did they become monsters like this, were they degraded and went through a cruel process to become such a scary and alarming thing?
"I guess I should call him by name so I can easily recognize him the next time we need to run into them. Congratulations!"
"Do I have to call him by his name now? Didn't he try to eat me a few moments ago?"
I started working my way back to the equipment I had taken down earlier. Some of the storage compartments seemed to come loose from my shot and I started organizing and trying to put them all together. I was too tired and disturbed from meeting him, so I thought of the names of those creatures that were presented to me. I thought to myself that I just composed some words in between. Just after I finished tidying up, I start to talk to Rosalina:
"I think I'll call them 'Anomalosaurus rex'. Try to warn me next time if they're in the area around me, okay?"
