"Jenny! Wait!" I yell out to her as I run to catch up to her. She's clearly pissed. She ignores me and keeps walking through the village. "Why did he think that was funny? What if he couldn't control himself and hurt everyone else?" She thinks to herself as she continues walking to a place that has a shirt on their sign.
Walking in, she looks around and notices different clothing throughout the human years. Some were in pristine condition, and some looked rugged and torn. She decided to look at the old shirts they have from the 80's. She notices one that caught her eye. She holds it up and reads the shirt out loud. "Master of Puppets." Shrugging, she decides to take it to the counter and see how much it is. The being behind the counter was a man that looked like a sasquatch, with hair everywhere.
She handed him the shirt, and he said it in a deep, grizzly voice. "That will be 20 Yukrins." Jenny looks uncomfortable. "That much for a shirt that came out decades ago?" She asked the man, and she assumed it was a man by the voice.
The being spoke again. "If you cannot afford it, there is another way you can pay for it." The being spoke with a grin and a wink.
Jenny leans back in disgust. "How about no, you ugly fuck?" she says as she goes for the door and leaves. The being shrugs and puts the shirt under the counter. Walking outside, she sees me standing next to the door, waiting for her. Looking into my eyes and saying, "I'm still mad at you," I kiss her, interrupting her sentence. She embraces me and pulls back. "If you think this will be enough for me to forgive you, then you're wrong." She says it with a wink.
As I'm about to say something, we hear people scream in panic. "It's Dracula's soldiers; everyone run!" One person said they were running into their store and locking the door. Jenny and I look at each other. "Why are they here?" I say to Jenny; she shrugs and suggests we look for the others.
We start walking around, corner after corner, until we meet up with everyone. Jenny and I look at everyone and sigh, glad that they're okay. "What's going on? Why are Dracula's soldiers here?" I ask. Alistair puts his hand on his chin. "I wonder if it has to do with your power that you released earlier. It's possible that a guard felt it and reported it to him.
I think to myself and realize how much of an idiot I was, putting everyone in danger. "We need to get out of here so we don't involve the villagers; they did nothing wrong." Jenny speaks up. Soon we run to the nearest entrance and try to leave when we notice four soldiers standing guard at the entrance, making sure no one can leave. "Damn it. We need to think of another way out of here." Alistair says it out loud.
I look around and can't find anything until I think of something. "Vestis, Lumen. Is there something we can do to get out of here?" I ask them. "You can always swallow them up, and I can eat them. I bet they'd be tasty. Vampires taste the best." Vestis says. Lumen clears his throat. "Kamen, you need to listen to me. There is a way, but I'm not sure if you're ready for it." I stand still, thinking about it. "What is it?" I ask him.
Lumen explains. "If you surround yourself and everyone else with light energy, you may be able to make it so you blend in with the environment. But it's risky; at your level, I'm not sure it will work for that long. Using your abilities will drain the ability faster, revealing you to the world." He says. I think about the risks. I gather my thoughts and calm down, imagining the light surrounding the group and me. I feel the light come out of my body, and I open my eyes and see that everyone is cloaked. I can still see an outline of where they are.
I control myself from yelling out in pride. I look at everyone and explain what's going to happen next. A few minutes later, we're all walking towards the gate to get behind the soldiers.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
One by one, we make it past them until one of the guards looks down at Alice. He squints his eyes, trying to make sure he's seeing correctly. Opening his eyes wide, he looks at the other soldiers and yells out. "Someone is trying to escape!" The other soldiers turn around as the main soldier brings his sword down on Alice. I grab his hand, snap it in half, and break it. The man falls to the ground and shouts in pain.
The other soldiers look confused until they finally see the outline of our figures. They rush over, slashing out with their swords, as I summon the darkness and whip it out at them, grabbing their swords and swallowing them whole.
Seeing this, the guards move their hands and summon different elements. One guard is summoning fire, while the other two are summoning lightning in their hands. I quickly slash out again in the darkness and slice their hands off. They screamed in pain as I let the darkness envelope them and swallow them whole.
As soon as the last man is swallowed. I notice that the light is fading around my body, and the other soldiers that ran over to investigate see me and yell out. "Hey you! Stop what you're doing and stay still on the order of King Dracula!"
I give him the middle finger as I slash out again, decapitating them. I let the darkness swallow them up as more approach. At least 50 men I turn and look at everyone and yell out. "Run!" I turn around, slam through the gate, and rush down a path outside of the village.
I turn around and see everyone following me, especially the soldiers from before. "Damn it, leave us alone!" I yell out, sending more darkness towards them. One of the soldiers hit it out of the way as he kept running towards us. I stare at him in shock as I keep running. "I'll remember you," I think to myself as I look forward and see another gate.
There's a sign above it that reads: 'Enter if you dare; death will await you in the forest.' I shake my head and realize it's the only way out of this area. We blast through the gate and notice everything around us is green with life. I can hear wild life around us, and I notice the soldiers standing at the gate, not trying to come through. I give them the middle finger and slow down.
Seeing this, everyone else slows down and looks around them.
We're all amazed by what's around us; we haven't seen wild life like this before. "Where did this come from, and why haven't I heard of it?" I ask Elizabeth, looking at her. She stared at me for a few seconds before answering. "There was an old myth that was spread around about what was behind the gate. No one had gone through, and the ones that did Never returned. It's said that fairies and nymphs live here with other mystical beasts." I look around, unable to believe it, but at the same time, I believe every word.
Alistair is the first to walk up to a tree and touch it. As soon as he did, the tree shook, and he got up and moved. Shocked Alistair looks back at us, eyes wide. "The trees move." We look at him in shock. "What the hell?" Everyone thought at once.
Deciding not to test the trees patience, we continue down the path and come upon a strange figure drinking in a lake.
Alice looks at it and widens her eyes. "Oh my god, everyone. It's a pegasus." She says she is staring at the legendary horse.
I look at her in disbelief. "A pegasus, like in Greek mythology?" I say to her, confused. She nods her head. From what I had read before, back in the human world, they were just a myth and were never confirmed to be real, but there was a drawing from the ancient Greeks that depicted what they looked like. I can't believe it's true."
I think to myself. "If the pegasus is real, Does that mean the Greek gods are real as well?"I look back at the horse. "What's a legendary horse like this doing here in EverRest?" I asked Elizabeth. She says this while still staring at the horse. "It would seem that the gods let it roam from their realm and thought it best to let it be around in this area."
I shake my head. "Let's go; if it's here, I wonder what else is here." Moving forward, we follow the path around the lake. I look down at the lake and notice something in the water moving.
Curious. I walk down to the lake; the pegasus sees me, turns around, and runs away. I ignore the horse and focus on the water. I lean in close as the figure rises out of the water. Shocked, I stand back. The figure has a tail reminiscent of a fish. I look up and realize what's in front of me. Elizabeth sees the figure and yells out. "Kamen, get away from it!"
