It was midnight; everyone was asleep; it was thunder-storming. Rain poured down like bullets on the shingles of the house. A lightning bolt cracked, and then I woke up suddenly. Covered in sweat, I looked around. "There's that strange energy again. What is it coming from?" I got up from my bed, trying my best not to wake Jenny up. He walked to the window, and what he saw sent a shiver down his spine.
Outside their house stood 30 soldiers of varying sizes. The only thing he knew about them was that they were vampires—strong ones. "Shit, I have to warn the others. Jenny, wake up!" Kamen yelled as he ran outside of his room, yelling for everyone to wake up. "Everyone, we're under attack. Wake up!" I get to the stairs and see Elizabeth standing there, looking serious. She looks at Kamen and replies. "We know, we were watching them; all they have been doing is just standing there."
"What do we do?" I asked nervously. She scoffs. "You go out there and fight them." She looks at me with a devilish smile. "I think she's getting off on this." I think to myself. Sighing, I go to the door and suddenly hear a voice. "Kamen, before you go out there, you need to look at your stats. All you need to do is say 'Stats' and you'll see them." I stop and try it. "Stats". Suddenly, a screen pops open, and I see my stats. It takes every bit of my power not to shit myself upon seeing this. "How long could I have done this?" I asked Lumen. Lumen replies. "Ever since Vestis and I came together."
Annoyed, I decided to check them out.
'Name: Kamen
Race: Vampire
Class:???
Height: 5 feet 9
Sub-Class:???
Alignment: Neutral
Ability: Light, Dark, Space Manipulation, Weapon Mastery,
Speed Enhancement, Strength Enhancement,????'
"Why are my class and sub-class question marks, and what's my other ability?" I think to myself as I walk outside.
Staring at the vampires, I ask one question. "Why are you here?" The lead vampire stares at me and laughs mockingly.
"We're here to get rid of you and your pesky friends, of course; other than that, it's pure pleasure for us." He says it confidently.
"If you try to hurt them, I'll kill every single one of you." It comes out as a growl as my eyes glow crimson red. Unconsciously, I feel the darkness seep out of me. The vampires see it and laugh. "You'll have to do more than that to intimidate you." Before he can finish that sentence, I appear in front of him and grab him by the head.
The darkness flows out of my hand into him, slowly eating him alive. The vampires stand in shock; how could they have underestimated him? The vampire's body is slowly engulfed by the darkness and disappears. Turning around, I stare at the others and say, "Come get some." With a growl.
The vampires start running towards me at great speed; the first to reach me slashes out at me with his claws. As soon as his claws touch the darkness, it picks him up and slams him into the ground, cracking the stone around him. He lays there motionless. I walk over to him and stand above him, looking down. With great malice, I say to him: "How dare you think you can come to our home and threaten my friends?" I start punching him with strength that would break a normal person. I keep punching, the punches getting stronger every time. Everyone there stays rooted in place, shocked by what they see.
As they watch, they hear bones crunching and the wet sound of their blood gushing out of the vampire's body. I stop and pick the vampire up by the head; you can't recognize them anymore. I squeeze as the vampire is slowly healing, and I crush his skull in my hands and let the darkness consume him.
Looking at the other vampires, I say with blood-red eyes full of rage. "This was your first and only mistake." As I focus on the darkness and swipe outward, I send a wave of darkness energy towards the vampires, slicing them in half and watching the darkness eat them. Standing there, I feel like I'm in a rage, but soon I feel a hand on my back. I turn around to strike when I see it's Jenny with a look of horror on her face. Not knowing if this was still the man she loved. "Kamen, I know you're in there; everything is okay now. The vampires are all dead and gone. You don't have to worry anymore." She says this as she cries and hugs me. "Please stop, Kamen." Hearing what she says, I feel Lumens light wash over me, and the darkness is pushed back. I feel like myself again. I look around to see everyone staring at me, shocked. "I'm sorry everyone; I lost it again. I'm just happy to see that you're okay." Frowning, I hug Jenny back and give her a kiss. "Jenny, I promise I won't do that with you around again. I don't know what I would do if I hurt you." After everything is said and done, Alice appears, hearing what has happened. "Is everyone safe? I tried to get here as fast as I could, but I felt a great and dark energy blocking me from creating a portal here." She looks around, sees the craters everywhere, and senses strands of darkness in the area. Sighing, she looks over at me. "You really need to calm it down." She mutters something, and everything slowly starts coming back together as if it never happened.
Stolen novel; please report.
Walking over to Alice, I thank her for what she did. "Thank you, Alice; I'm sorry it came to this. I just didn't want anything to happen to everyone. I did what I thought was necessary." Alice frowns. "I realize that, Kamen, but when you use the darkness, you run the risk of hurting your loved ones."
I turn around and walk back into the house to regain my thoughts.
In the shadows, Ragnor couldn't believe his eyes. "How did he do all of that? That should have been impossible; they were vampire knights!" He thinks to himself. "I have to let my Lord know. Ragnor disappears.
Back inside the house, I can be seen pacing back and forth. "Who were those guys, and why were they here? Who would've wanted to hurt everyone?" I said, looking at Alistair. He shrugs. "The only person I can think of is Dracula. He must have known somehow about your abilities and wanted to test them; he must be nervous about you, which is strange considering he's the king."
I walk up to my room. "I just need to be alone right now." I think to myself, 'Stats'. A screen appears in front of me, and I see a new notification, 'Points'. Confused, I clicked it. Another screen pops out, and I see various things, all of them attributes. "Why did this appear now? Was it because I 'ate' those vampires?" I think to myself. "Yes, it is. Whenever you ate those vampires, you also ate all of their blood; in doing so, you stole what made them. Whatever points you now have came from them." Vestis explains.
I'm surprised it was Vestis who told me. Shaking that thought away, I look at the attributes.
'Current Attributes

Mana: 50/50
Endurance: 25
Mental Fortitude: 40
Wisdom: 10
Blood: 100/100
Charm: 4
Available Points: 30 '
Looking at this, I think to myself: "So I fought and 'ate' 30 vampires and only got 30 points? What a rip-off! But since I'm here, I need to adjust some of my stats." I look at my stats and try to decide what to choose. "Speed is a good stat to have, but look at my strength. My wisdom needs to go up too, along with my charm."
After thinking about it some more, I decided to put my points to good use.
'5 points added to speed. New Speed Level 20
5 points added to the charm New Charm Level 9
10 points added to strength. New Strength Level 20
10 points added to endurance New Endurance Level 35.'
Taking a deep breath, I close the window, lean onto the windowsill, and look outside. My eyes wandered to the street below, where the same car that had been following us for days was still parked in its spot. Its occupants, who were completely cloaked in darkness, stared back with eerie intensity. I shuddered at the thought of what would happen if they found us again.
"I should be set for now," I whisper as I shut the window and make my way down the stairs to meet everyone in the living room. All eyes turned towards me expectantly, like they were waiting for guidance. Taking a second to assess our situation, I ask hesitantly, "What do we do now? They know where we live. We can't stay here forever."
Suddenly, Jenny speaks up from her corner of the room. "My family has a house in EverRest, the vampire home world; they haven't lived there for years, but it should still have their servants there. We can always live there until we figure out something else." There was a moment of silence before everyone started packing their things up to move to EverRest, filled with dread of what would come next.
As soon as nightfall hits, our little group heads out to the portal, which will teleport us to EverRest. As we approach the abyssal opening, I feel a wave of anxiety wash over me—my parents were missing, and I've no clue how to find them. Taking a deep breath, I prepare myself and step into an uncertain future.
