Chapter 15: The Monster In The Cave….

Down in Hell, Lucifer can be seen sitting on a throne made of blood and bone, staring at his city of sin. He stood 8 feet tall, with black and red skin and two curved horns atop his figure. "What do you have to report about the demon that was in the human world?" Lucifer asked in a deep, gritty voice.

One of the demons shook when they heard his voice.

"My lord, the demon that was sent to scout the earth's inhabitants was seen by one of the vampires."

Hearing this, Lucifer was seen with veins in his head. "What do you mean, they were seen? They shouldn't have been seen by anyone! Did you even tell him to cloak himself??"Lucifer yelled out at a volume that was deafening. The demon cleared his throat. "I'm sorry, my lord. The demon tried to hide his energy and didn't do a good enough job of it. I'll make sure it never happens again." Staring down at him, Lucifer waved his hand. A dozen demons appeared, pulling the demon down and ripping out his insides. Screams of pain could be heard throughout his throne room. The demons felt a rush of pleasure hearing his pained screams. "ENOUGH!" Lucifer yelled out as the demons stopped tearing into the demon on the ground. Lucifer walked up to the demon and grabbed him by the head. His torso was only held on by a thread. "How can I rule Hell with such incompetent minions? You are utterly useless." He knew the demon was already dead. He just needed to vent his anger. Throwing the demon back to the rest, he waved his hand, and they continued eating the demon until nothing was left. "Leave me be." Lucifer commanded, and the demons were seen flying away out of his throne room. Lucifer walks out of his throne room down the hall. He could hear screams coming from different rooms. "I can't believe that I'm stuck here with these useless ants. Dracula has it easy. I don't know why he didn't change that name; Vlad was a better name." Lucifer thought to himself as he stopped at the gates of his demonic castle. He stepped out and saw hell. It was red, covered with countless amounts of blood—bodies that were impaled on spikes.

"That brings back the good old days." He thinks to himself as he finds the oracle of hell. Finally appearing at the house of the oracle, Lucifer walks in. "So, I see you're having fun today, Clarice." Lucifer says she was looking at the woman as she drained something that looked like black and red blood into a pot that was boiling.

She looked at Lucifer with a serious gaze. "What can I do for you today, Lucifer?" Feinting shock, he puts his hand to his chest. "Ouch, it's good to see you too, Clarice. Can't I see an old friend?" He laughed. "No, you always want something from me. You haven't come down to see me and spend time with me for any other reason than that." She said this as she stirred her pot.

Clearing his throat, Lucifer smiled and replied. "Well, today, I guess you can say that's true. I need you to try to look into the future of a certain someone for me." Clarice heard what he said and squinted her eyes at him. Curious, she asked. "Who is it?" Lucifer smiled again. "It was the man turned by that vampire bitch Jenny; she was with him and Alistair. I need to know if he'll be a threat in the future."

Sighing, she agreed. "I guess it's lucky I made this then." She motioned to the pot as she waved her hand and mumbled something. Soon the pot started to produce smoke, and a ring was formed around the pot as a magic window appeared. Clarice frowned. "I can't see anything about this man. Are you sure there was someone turned by her?" She asked seriously.

"I'm sure, I have demons disguise themselves in the human world and managed to get some information and a blood sample." Lucifer said this as he held up a vial of blood and tossed it into the pot. "Why would you do that, Luci?" Clarice asked, angered. Lucifer stared at her with disgust and anger in his eyes. "Never call me that again." He said that as his voice got so low, it sent shivers up her spine.

Shaking her head, Clarice stirred the pot more and got a clear image of the man. She gasped and fell back. "What's wrong, Clarice? What did you see?" Lucifer asked, concerned. Shaking her head, Clarice said "It's impossible, from what I can see. This man, if we can call him that, I will ascend the ranks of the vampire race and take Dracula's place as the rightful king."

Hearing this, Lucifer put his hand on his chin and spoke. "Is that even possible? Drac has been alive for thousands of years; he's the start of the vampire race. No vampire can reach his level." Clarice shakes her head. "Normally it's not possible, but looking at this man, there's a dangerous aura around him; he's surrounded by light and darkness. It's like I'm seeing a monster, something that will be the undoing of everything." She said she was shaking.

"Hmm. Alright, that will be it. I'll take my leave." Lucifer said as he turned to walk out the door. Clarice stopped him. "Wait, Lucifer. Please heed my warning; if that man is not dealt with, he will destroy you after taking Dracula's spot as king." Staring back at her, Lucifer ignored her words and left.

I wake up at the bottom of the hole I fell into. It was at least a several-story drop. Trying to get up, I notice that one of my legs is turned around and facing me. "Jesus Christ, if I were a human, I'd be dead." I say to myself as I pull my leg and try to set it back in place. As I do, I hear the bones clack together and feel the pain of my tendons and muscle repair itself. Getting up, I look around. "It's dark as hell down here. I need some light." I say this as a light appears above me. Smiling, I walk down further into the cave. I suddenly remembered what I picked up. I look for the crystal lying down by a wall. I go to pick the crystal back up and hear something. The light goes in front of me as a figure can be seen crawling down the ceiling. It hisses at me. I move the light down the hallway to light up what's there. As soon as I see it, I regret that decision.

The monster stands up; it's menacing-looking. Every bit of 7 feet tall With black eyes and a body that looks humanoid but very snake-like. It has a smooth tail extruding from its backside. I call out to the monster, "What are you and what do you want from me?" The monster roars out; it's so loud since we're in a cave, and its roar deafens me for a second. I drop to one knee, holding my ears. The monster stops and speaks in a low voice. "Crystal...Mine..." I look at the crystal and look back at the monster. I shake my head. "It's mine now; I found it fair and square." I say this as I put the crystal in my pocket next to the other one.

The monster, clearly angered by this, raises one hand that looks webbed and has sharp claws and points it at me. "Then I eat you." The beast says this as it rushes towards me. I see this, and I turn around and run, knowing full well I can't take this beast on. I run around the corner and see a set of stairs. Deciding to take them, I run up them, get to the top, and notice a stash of crystals piled as tall as I am. The light shimmers off of them and blinds me. I look away and realize I can use this to my advantage. I turn off the light and wait for the monster to get up here. I hear its footsteps. Heavy and definitely angry. It makes it to the top of the stairs. "Where you man?" the beast says out in terrible English. I laugh and say, "Right here." I turn on the light, and the crystals reflect the light and blind the monster. The monster, clearly enraged, closes its eyes and starts swinging its claws around, hoping to hit me. I pull out my sword and charge it with dark energy, rush towards the monster, slash at its legs, and hear a clink. I look at the sword and realize that this isn't going to be enough. Sighing, I try to jump back. But as soon as I try, the monster's claws hit me in the side and impale me. I get sent flying to one side of the room, and the light follows me. I lay down on the ground, bleeding and having the air knocked out of my lungs. I hear the monster stomping towards me. I try to get up, but the pain is too much. I look down and see my wounds healing up, but too slowly. I realize that if I don't try to force myself up, I'm not going to make it out of here.

"Damn it. Vestis, I need your energy to get up and get away." Laughing Vestis replies. "If you just let me deal with this, you wouldn't have a problem." I shake my head. "Damn it, Vestis, this is not the time for this. I need your help."

Sighing, Vestis agrees, and I feel his energy wash over all of my body. Normally, I could do this myself, but I can think of all of this pain. Feeling better, I force myself to run. Heaving with each step I look back and see the monster coming for me. I see a hole in the wall that's big enough for me to get through. I run for it and get in. As soon as I get in, I hear the monster's voice.
