214- From the bunker to the dungeons: The True Sun

"I know this is a bad idea..." Ada looked around anxiously

"You heard what he said..." Jenny tried to calm her down, "It's probably an old cemetery, if we miss this chance we might not find another one."

Jenny then looked at their friend and whispered, "Connie, say something, you're starting to worry me because you haven't said anything throughout our trip..."

Connie was an elf girl with short red hair, despite her boyish appearance she had the prettiest face out of the three girls, although she couldn't compete with Charlotte's it was clear that she was still popular with the boys

Connie was the calmest of the group due to her tough expression, but her shaking feet as she walked showed that she was maintaining a tough facade and nothing more

"Don't worry, ladies..." Alexander who was walking in front turned towards them, "I'll make sure to protect you from any danger."

Then he winked at Jenny right after saying those words.

"..." Why do I feel like you're making fun of me?

Alexander's wink made her automatically remember the words she had said to him before they entered the dungeons.

We will rely on you to protect us inside... She had only said it as a tease, but it seemed as if those words had somehow gotten back to her.

"Then we will rely on you." All that came out were a few dry words from Jenny.

Immediately after those words, Jenny felt like she had stepped on something.

She lowered her head in fear and saw that she had stepped on a brick that had moved slightly downward.

Then she heard the gasps of fear coming from her friends.

She quickly raised her head to find that there was an arrow that was an inch from her forehead, but Alexander's hand had caught it at the right moment.

Alexander threw the arrow aside, causing the rest of the girls to back away from the arrow as if it were some kind of poisonous snake.

"See? I said I would protect you." With these words, Alexander returned to the front of the group and started moving.

Jenny's feet were shaking violently and she almost fell after losing what was left of her strength due to fear.

She was an inch away from death and if it weren't for Alexander's intervention, she would now be on a terrifying journey to the underworld.

Her friends supported her so that she could stand up again.

While Alexander walked away, Charlotte remained standing to wait for them.

She didn't expect this place to contain such traps.

If Alexander hadn't been with them, a tragedy would have happened here.

Despite her irrepressible desire to get rid of this curse, she did not want anyone to get hurt because of this.

She began to think seriously about asking Alexander to allow these girls to go back outside.

This place might not be safe for them.

So the safest option now was for her and Alexander to go deep alone.

While Charlotte was lost in thought, she bumped into Alexander's back, who suddenly stopped.

Charlotte moved to the side to get a better view of what was ahead of them, seeing five tunnels spread out on the wall in front of them.

This content has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

“Should we split up?” Ada put her hands on her waist.

“Impossible…”

The rest of the girls, including Charlotte, protested.

After seeing the deadly trap that was about to kill Jenny, it was impossible for any of them to even think about wandering around alone in this place.

“Don’t worry…” Alexander smiled with unquestionable confidence, “I have a way of knowing the right direction.”

The girls became curious as they tried to guess the method that would allow Alexander to know the right direction.

Alexander extended his finger forward and started moving it, " Eni mini maini mo..."

Alexander's finger stopped in front of the fourth tunnel.

"It seems we found our target."

"..." Do you think this is a good time for a joke?

They thought Alexander was trying to lighten the mood.

But unexpectedly, Alexander started heading towards the fourth tunnel without any hesitation.

The girls froze for a moment, unable to decide what to do now.

It was clear that Alexander's confidence was not supported by anything.

But once again, they saw Charlotte following Alexander without any objection.

They could only give in and follow them silently.

Charlotte was the only one who knew that there was definitely a reason for Alexander's choice.

After seeing how Alexander opened that secret passage, she had a strange confidence in everything he did.

In her eyes, everything he did had a purpose and achieved a specific goal.

The group continued to delve deeper into the tunnel for thirty minutes.

On their way, they found a different group of skulls, although they could not find the rest of the body parts that these skulls were taken from

But the strange thing is that most of these skulls were of unusual shapes

It did not seem as if these skulls belonged to any of the races of this world

If they were human skulls or elves or even dwarves, it would have been clear

But most of these skulls had horns or jaws with sharp fangs

And the difference in sizes also indicated that they were skulls of different species

The girls did not care because they thought that these were skulls of monsters

Only Alexander was looking at these skulls with caution, which increased with each skull they passed

He realized that these were not skulls of monsters

But the skulls of demonic races

The demonic races were among the species that were widely spread in the multiple worlds

It was not just one species, but a mixture of races that cooperated with each other in groups

These species often differed in appearance and size, which led him to believe that these skulls with different shapes all belonged to the demonic races

Even with all these differences, they had one thing in common:

The desire to destroy and conquer

The demon race was like locusts that moved between worlds, invading them and draining their resources

In the process, the indigenous people of that world were exterminated and any form of life was wiped out

Such operations often end with the destruction of the invaded world, after which they move to another world for this process to be repeated.

There was no point in talking to these beings

All attempts to reach some kind of truce with them failed

They were beings who did not know the meaning of peace

With all these brutal actions, they gained an unparalleled reputation, and just hearing their name was enough to strike fear into the hearts of anyone

As the legends that spread about the strength and cruelty of these beings were enough to shake even the strongest of men

Just the news of the arrival of demons to a world was enough to start mass migrations from that world

No one who valued their life would remain in the world that the demons planned to invade

However, it wasn’t that easy for those demons, as the presence of powerful entities scattered everywhere often hindered their plans.

It was certain that it would end in tragedy for these demons if they tried to invade a world where a Demi-great one expert was hiding.

“Finally.” Jenny sighed in annoyance when she saw a medium-sized stone gate wide open in front of them, “I thought we would be walking for the rest of our lives.”

Following Jenny’s complaint, Connie turned with a slight frown to look back the way they had come, “We’ve gone too deep, it would be difficult to retreat if someone attacked us.”

Charlotte’s eyes twitched, realizing that Connie’s words were true.

If they were attacked and tried to escape, it would be difficult.

The group passed through the stone gate, where they were greeted by a majestic sight of a great stone tunnel supported by stone pillars. What caught their eye was a group of gargoyles statues on both sides, and at the end of it was an open metal gate.

The gargoyles were the size of an adult man and looked very old, but that only gave them a mysterious air, especially since the way they were carved made everyone who looked at them feel awe

Alexander paused for a moment and looked at these statues suspiciously

Then he approached one of these statues and waved his hand in front of it, then he let out a sigh of relief, "It doesn't seem to move."

Did he say 'move'?... The girls swallowed in fear as they wondered what would happen if these things were moving to attack them

Like the rest of the places, this place contained some skulls

Charlotte began to walk around the place while Alexander picked up a skull the size of an adult man's head and began to turn it over to examine it

"Did you see anything strange in it?" Ada asked when she saw Alexander's sudden interest in this skull

Alexander stroked his chin in deep thought, "Do you think we can sell these skulls to the museum?"

"..." Is that all you can think of in this situation?

Alexander misread their strange looks and said, "I think you're right, the authorities will confiscate these skulls, it's better to smuggle them out and sell them to a wealthy person interested in buying antiques and ancient remains."

"..." Did any of us mention anything about smuggling antiquities?

The girls looked at each other with some helplessness

But they were a little impressed by Alexander's coolness

They were all nervous and worried about what they would find in this place

But unlike them, Alexander maintained a strange calm, to the point that he was able to think of something like smuggling antiquities

"Here!..." Charlotte's voice came from the other side of the tunnel where she stood directly in front of the giant metal gate

Alexander threw the skull aside and moved with the rest of the group towards Charlotte

Charlotte stood in front of a gate leading to a huge circular hall

This hall was devoid of stone statues, but the thing that caught the attention of everyone who saw the place was the stone base in the center of the hall, which was a meter long and on which was placed a stone cube the size of the palm of the hand. This cube contained writings and engravings that could not be distinguished from where they were standing.

"This..." Ada whispered as she looked at the stone cube

None of them dared to step inside the hall and instead they all stood very cautiously at the gate

"What now..." Charlotte turned her gaze towards Alexander to get orders for their next move

But Alexander's eyes were looking to the side of the hall, not caring about the stone base or the stone cube

This was the first time Charlotte had seen such a worried look on Alexander's face

It looked like he was...afraid

Charlotte quickly looked towards where Alexander was looking

There was a carving on the left wall, this carving was a sun disc with a human face inside it with closed eyes

How did I not notice this?...Charlotte knew that anyone would notice the presence of this thing, but strangely they ignored the presence of this carving as if there were forces that made them overlook it

"The True Sun..." Alexander whispered heavily
