11- The bunker

Alexander stood in a wide stone corridor, with small ceiling lamps barely illuminating the tunnel

He sighed, a tired look on his face

This is one of the annoying nightmares that he has from time to time

Every living being has its own fears. Some are afraid of spiders, and others are afraid of high places

As for Alexander, his greatest fear and the cause of his nightmares was...his past

He looked at the military hat he was holding in his right hand, then threw it aside.

Even after all these years, these nightmares still haunt him.

How many times had he had to repeat this nightmare?

Thousands or millions of times?

Did he fall asleep while reading books in the library?

Since arriving in that world, he had never slept, he was planning for his future and training to increase his strength

It seemed that his body had become tired, so he fell asleep inside the library

The library room was warm, and the chairs were comfortable. These are things that help relax the body and drag the person into the world of dreams

He closed his eyes for a moment as he tried to regain his focus, then walked slowly to his destination

The corridor he was walking through was filled with mutilated corpses whose features could not be seen, and all of the corpses had a piece of metal attached to their military uniforms. Names were engraved on these metal pieces.

These pieces are dog tags, and were used to identify the soldiers who died during the war

Blood was covering the floor

But he walked normally and with steady steps, not caring about the bodies he stepped on, or the blood that stained his clothes.

Human entrails fell in front of Alexander. He raised his head to the ceiling, and found human remains on the ceiling

The walls had strange holes leading to other rooms, and the furniture was broken into pieces. as if a tornado had passed through this place.

Alexander entered a large room full of chairs, with a cross hanging on the wall opposite the door

Unlike the rest of the rooms in this bunker that were filled with corpses, this room was normal and clean

This is the church his friend built in the bunker they were working on during the World War

There was an altar under the cross, and on this altar was a rabbit doll covered in blood

He stood in front of the altar, and looked at the rabbit doll with a warm smile

He carefully reached out and lifted the rabbit doll with his hands, as if he was lifting a precious treasure

roar

The moment Alexander lifted the rabbit doll, a roaring sound echoed in the bunker, some dust fell from the ceiling, and the lamps hanging on the ceiling shook and moved left and right.

This roar shook the place like an earthquake

Even the bravest of men will piss their pants when they hear such a terrifying roar

But Alexander smiled when he heard the roar

he exclaimed with emotion. " Lambert, did you miss me, my friend?"

But he received no response

Alexander maintained his smile, walked to one of the chairs and sat down, placing the rabbit doll on his lap

He could hear the terrifying roaring sound echoing through the corridor and rooms, this sound was enough to drive any normal human being crazy.

But for Alexander, this roar was a reminder that he had a friend named Augustin Lambert

Shhh! Shhh!

A distorted sound echoed from a radio on a table near the altar

The device looked worn and old

The distortion continued for a while, but the sound gradually began to become clearer

There was a sound of someone trying to speak through this device

Alexander did not get up, and stared at the device coldly

"Private Clément, I did not expect you to be able to survive..." A clear voice came out of the radio

Clément

He hadn't heard that name in a long time

"I think I was luckier than you, Officer Joubert." Alexander replied sarcastically

"I'm sorry...". This is the only thing that came out of the device, and then the noise returned

"I know that Officer Fournier was the one who locked us up here. Why didn't you object to that? You are guilty too, Joubert." Despite his words, Alexander was indifferent

" you are right..". The voice became clear again. " I am guilty.."

"Then why did you come back?.." Alexander asked casually, looking at the rabbit doll and wiping the dust covering it

"I did not return, but you were the one who summoned me... It seems that you could not bear loneliness, so your subconscious mind created this fantasy, so that you would not lose your mind.."

"Why didn't my mind create a beautiful woman? Out of all the available options, why did my subconscious mind choose to seek the help of one of the cowardly officers?.."

"It is possible that this happened because I was the last human you met..."

"Well...that won't change anything..." Alexander placed the rabbit doll on one of the chairs

"No...You got a new opportunity, why don't you take advantage of it? Live your life in the best way possible..."

"Even if I have a new opportunity, the past will continue to haunt me. It is a curse that haunts me." Alexander turned his body and approached the exit

"You may be right, but you can break that curse if you want to. You can get rid of old memories by making new ones, or at least you can lessen its effects.." Joubert's voice became fainter

Alexander stopped and looked at the radio with a complicated look

"I hope this is the last time we meet. I know you feel pain when you return to this place. Goodbye, Clément... No, I would rather say, Goodbye, Alexander..." Joubert's voice disappeared

This time, Alexander left the room without looking back
