Twenty-Four

Ryan and Rachel found themselves back in the jungle forest of Brazil. Ryan still had the glass cat. Looking at the huge pile of rocks that now lies in a pile. The huge arm had disappeared. The Earth's sky had gone through a very difficult phase. It now showed a black and empty scene. From far away, Ryan saw what looked to be yellow stars. These stars, though, seemed to faint in the light every three to five seconds. It wasn’t until then that a sudden realization came to Ryan. The pair had been the big titans eyes. He took the sculptured cat and chanted a prayer. The black glass glowed to a bright light, then the black glass started to turn white. The white color then turned into clear glass. Once the sculpture was clear, the thing came to life.

"What is your desire, human?” Said the glass cat, “I have more pressing matters to attend to.”

“Fluffy, I need you to place a protective barrier around this earth.” Ryan said, “We have been transported to the elder gods domain.”

“Meow, what is that? That is meow, not good.” Fluffy said in a purring voice, “I’ll get on it. Just let me take a cat nap right here.”

The glass cat began to paw at the ground, its little glass beans crushing and patting the soft green blades of grass. Then I walked around and curled out into a glass ball. A bright light started to form inside the glass body, then grew and expanded to encompass the entire world.

"Thanks, fluffy; I’ll make sure to give you your treats once we are finished.” Ryan said.

“Wow, a cat that sleeps, how cute.” Rachel said, “Can we keep him, please?”

“Unfortunately no.” Ryan explained, “Fluffy is the library's property; not only that, but I don’t think Dagron would play nice with glass.”

Rachel said nothing, but the look she gave him was one that could kill. Ryan just smiled and looked up at the sky. Once the barrier had been lifted, the sky began changing to its natural blue. Out of nowhere, three titan faces looked down on earth. One was yellow with a sharp, bone-like structure. A ruby the size of a planet was suspended above his head. Two half circles surrounded the gem. Its bright yellow eyes looked on with curiosity. One giant appendage, with scales coming from it, tried to penetrate the glowing barrier. The instant contact was a bright flash that flashed across the barrier. The sound of grinding was heard across the earth. It was so deafening that many on earth covered their ears. To them, it was just an unusual sound, like they always heard. Finally, the titan drew its appendage back.

"Well, at least it's just one.” Ryan tried to make a joke.

"Oh, very funny—still, that titanic-sized thing outside of Earth could destroy all life. Plus, who knows what else is out there?” Rachel said.

“You might be right; I just don’t know what to do.” Ryan said, “I don’t know exactly where to start.”

A loud explosion, like a lightning strike, sounded like a mile away. A bright flash appeared in front of the two. A figure that looked similar to Orisorin but lacked the emotions of Orisorin. The naked man was floating through the air. He flew directly to Ryan. With the quickness of lightning, he appeared next to Ryan.

"Well, if it isn’t my brother’s apprentice.” Caqihr said with a laugh, "Finally, we must go back to this world’s library.”

“Why, I know exactly who you are, Caqihr; I know you are here just for the book.”

“Look here, you little snot; your precious library friends sent me to help you and John bring back this world.” Coqihr mockingly said, “Come on, kid, let's go; where’s your master?”

“John was taken over by something called Azarhoth.” Ryan said flatly, “To be honest, I haven’t read anything on The Elder Gods; most of it is just from what John told me.”

“Well, there’s a reason why.” Coqihr said strongly, “The reason is because the Elder Ones only want you to know just enough about them. Some people get to know more.”

“Right, next you’re going to tell me that they wanted me to come here because of some reason.” Ryan said mockingly, “But if you truly do want to help, then fine.”

"Ryan, are you sure? From what Orisorin said, he’s not to be trusted.” Rachel said in Ryan's ear.

“It’s fine; even if he did get his hands on my book, he could take it.” Ryan said in a whisper, “It’s linked to me.”

"So, are we going to the library?” Coqihr asked.

“Yeah, just keep your shorts on.” Ryan replied, "Ok, here we go again.”

Ryan concentrated and closed his eyes. A thin line, almost like a zipper, appeared. The seams of reality split, and a door began to appear. Ryan opened his eyes and fell directly to the ground. He was unconscious. Rachel ran to Ryan and quickly looked at Coqihr. She let out a demonic growl. Her eye immediately turned black as the night sky. Her body transformed into that of a full-on demon. Her horns grow from her forehead. The horns had black tips, with the rest of them red. Her once snowy white skin was crimson red. A devil's tail sprays from her backside with a heart-shaped tip. The sharp tip could be used to pierce soft flesh. Bat-like wings erupted not once, but twice. She jumped to Coqihr, who was now holding his hands up in surrender. She stopped herself when she heard Ryan’s heart faintly beating. Her demon ears had improved, just like her vision. She could see those small breaths blowing the dirt into the air.

“Ryan, hold on; I’ll carry you to the library.” Rachel said, with her voice turning acid at Coqihr, "You, if you want to help us, go hold the door open.”

"Yes, ma'am,” Coqihr said as he floated to the door. "Well, now, Ryan, I see you found yourself a good lover; let’s see how long that lasts.”

Rachel pulled Ryan up to his feet and then cradled him like a baby. He was awake, thought about the situation, put his thumb in his mouth, and looked up at her.

“Ma ma,” Ryan said while sucking his thumb.

Rachel looked at Ryan and dropped him right on his ass. Ryan bit his thumb when his ass broke the fall. A huge throbbing pain began to spread to his back, and he began to laugh. He ignored the pain and knew it would go away soon. Rachel took both men by their necks and dragged them inside the building. The doors were now closing with the speed of natural mechanics, and once closed, the seem was zipped up like a jacket, and once again, the area was back to normal.

Rachel walked into the library, where she dropped both males. From the time they had gone, the statue was back to life. It was jamming to The Shore Men and their song Two, Oh Nine. The group was from Ruth’s original earth. The library was looking lively at the moment. Ruth, who was dancing with the statue, was now walking to Ryan and Rachel. Her shoes squeaked on the floor. Her rubber soles hadn’t had a chance to break in yet. Ryan, who was now standing up and rubbing his ass and back, held out a hand to Ruth.

“He was sorry to drop in like this, but I deployed the state, and it worked.” Ryan said, “This is...”

"Coqihr, what is he doing here?” Ruth said in a surprised state, "Ryan, quickly, do something.”

“It’s ok, Ruth; he’s with us; he's actually here to help.” Ryan said, “If he doesn't, then I’ll just kick his ass.”

"Please feel like you could beat me in combat.”

Coqihr said, “And any strength you gain is from my book.”

“That may be, but I’m the one who’s wielding it.” Ryan said.

“We’ll see.” Coqihr said to himself.

“So what is it that you need in the library?” Ryan’s asking, “And what exactly is it that needs to be done?”

"Well, first, I see that you already used the cat to protect the earth.” Coqihr said, "Second, I just need time to cast a spell that will transport the earth back.”

“What do you need me to do?” Ryan slew the man who was now chanting.

“For now, just stand there and look pretty.” Coqihr said.

Coqihr stood in the middle of the library, holding his arms to the sky. The intricate circular design that had alchemy and Enochian spells began to move and spin. The letters glowed with a dark yellow light. A humming sound of electricity was coming from the transfer of magic to the circular design. The room felt heavy with pressure, as if the library had had its gravity increased. The room began to fill with magic from the surrounding mana around the earth. Coqihr finished with the incantation and looked at Ryan. Who was now facing him?

“Come here and hold my hand.” Coqihr said, “I will now send the huge amount of mana that the library is now storing.

Ryan held his hands towards Coqihr, who grabbed them, and both men started to hum with the concentration of mana.

"Ok, now you saw the titan on the other side of the earth." Coqihr said, “I need its pineal gland. Are you up for the task, or are you too weak to handle it?”

“I already told you, Cock Ear!" Ryan said in disgust, “I already told you that I’m stronger than you. So that elder god should be no problem.”

A wiled smile was creeping across Coqihr’s face. The smile disappeared just before Ryan looked at him. Coqihr gave Ryan a torn piece of paper. The paper was tea-colored with rough edges. The folded paper was tied with red string. Ryan looked at the paper and used his right hand to finger the string. He placed the parchment with lace in his right pocket and walked over to Rachel.

Rachel was two feet taller than Ryan. She was still in a newly transformed body. Her mana was currently making her black eyes look like deep black holes. She had torn clothes that were threatening to reveal her grapefruit-sized breasts. Her fit body looked like marbled black stone. She stood next to the statue that was currently looking at Rachel with fear and excitement. Ryan stood in front of his now-fiancée.

“Rachel I don’t know why, but if anything happens, take the book and run.” Ryan said in a whisper, “Go to page forty-six; there is a paper that will tell you what to do.”

“Ryan, don’t start with that; you tell me what is going on.” Rachel asked, “I won’t let you leave me and the baby alone.”

“Don’t worry about me; I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s just a feeling; if you find John, just run.”

Ryan grabbed Rachel with his hands around both biceps. He pulled her and their unborn baby close to him. He kissed Rachel on her midnight lips. They tasted sweet fruit, strawberries, in the summer. A memory of them spending time together for the first time came into his head. It was the same kiss he first received when they accidentally ran into each other. Tears weld up in he’s eyes, and a sharp pain like a hot knife poking his brain caused him to pull away. He turned to Coqihr, who was standing and looking in a mirror he had summoned.

"Oh, are we all done with the pleasantries?” Coqihr asked in a mocking manner, “Or should I let you two love birds be?”

“I’m ready, so how do I get to the beast?” Ryan asked, looking at the door, "Well, anytime, sweetheart.”

“Yes, once you step outside of the doors, you will begin to fly to the beast.” Coqihr said, “Just watch that first step.”

Ryan looked at him and then walked to the exit. He looked back at Rachel and everyone else. He then took a deep breath and pushed the doors open. The bright light of noon hit Ryan in the eyes. Just like Coqihr said, he began to take off for the massive titan. Ryan took his staff, which was now dark in color. The aquamarine stone on top of the staff was glowing and emanating a pulse light. Ryan’s eyes had gone purple. A purple glint of light was surrounding Ryan. His tattered clothes had been magically replaced with dark blue wizard robes. The hooded robe was draped over his head. A massive rope made from hemp was tied around his waist. His hair was waving in the wind from the onset of the sudden merge of mana. The magic flowed into his vein, making every cell feel as young as it had when he was young. His shoes had been replaced with boots that went to his upper shin. The black leather was polished to a mirror shine.

"Well, shit, my magic had more than doubled; I think I may be a thousand times more powerful.” Ryan said to himself, “This is going to be fun.”

Ryan was flying straight to the Titan. He noticed that he was getting closer to space, so he cast a barrier spell that would let him fight in the coldness of the elder gods universe. The closer Ryan got to the Elder God, the bigger he seemed to get and the more features he could make out. This made it even easier to battle this monstrosity. Ryan used his will and directed his staff, which was now living with ivy, roses, and a multitude of varying berries. The mana that was flowing through his body and circulating through the staff was getting concentrated in the aquamarine gem. The beautiful gem was as clear as the tropical waters in Fiji. The mana made the precious gem glow even brighter and amplified his attack that he was now about to unleash. The man was now creating a twenty-two hundred-foot-diameter fireball. The intense heat from the flames burned some of the leaves from the staff. That news grew back in an instant. The large fireball was growing to double its size, then it doubled again and again. The large fireball had grown to the size of the tip of the tentacle that was swinging towards Ryan.

Ryan, who had finally escaped the atmosphere of the earth, was now in low earth orbit. The yellow elder god was now swinging its right tentacle toward Ryan. The fireball that Ryan was holding was now being fired at the enormous beast. The sizzling and hissing of gases escaped the ball as it soared through the air. The ball hurled itself straight to the large eyes on its lower body, but before the attack could hit, the massive body swung its large tentacle to intercept it. A massive explosion was heard from the attack. A beautiful rose was burning on the creature's appendages. The creature let out a massive cry that at first made Ryan's ears bleed. Ryan managed to enchant the barrier to be soundproof before he lost his hearing. The only downside was that Ryan would not be able to hear anything, not even if another gigantic creature was here. Ryan just hoped he could defeat the monster before the rest of its inhabitants died. The cat could keep the earth safe, but it couldn’t generate heat to keep the earth warm from freezing in the elder gods domain.
