Chapter Ten

Ryan was lurking in a deep cave. He was using his left hand as a torch. He concentrated his magic in his palm, and the blue light lit the rocky walls. He walked with caution. He had been transported to the book again. He was walking waist-high in water. The wounds had healed. He was looking through the tunnel and saw a bright light at the end. He walked until he saw a forest. This enchanted green nature was growing Dee in the cave. A small wooden shack that stood five and a half feet and three feet of the wooden structure was extruded from a huge tree. He walked to the shack and stopped. He sensed a large creature emerging from the foliage. The large reptile had a huge head, massive legs, and small arms. The head had a red scar and red paint. The beast let out a loud roar and ran straight towards Ryan.

Ryan was caught off guard. He was standing and facing a prehistoric beast. With its mouth opened and its teeth razor-sharp,. Ryan ran for the closest object. Which, at the moment, was behind the T-Rex. Ryan held his free hand up and chanted a spell. A bright yellow and white ball materialized, and then he chanted another spell, and the ball multiplied by three, then into nine individual balls. He let them go, and they immediately flew towards the dinosaur. They encircled him, and one by one they fell to its target. When the balls hit the skin, they exploded, sending the beast in the opposite direction. Then the balls recentered and attacked it again. This gave Ryan the time he needed to run to the tree line. The T-Rex roared and tried to run away, but was always attacked by the ball. The red sun's burnt injures on its scales gavethe monster a reason to fear Ryan. A ball was once again released, hit the dinosaur, and flew one hundred yards from its original location.

"Well, I wonder what mysterious Yoda is creeping behind these trees.” Ryan said it out loud.

“It’s not a mystery creature, but the owner of the book.” The disembodied voice echoed through the woods.

Ryan was stunned and shocked. He felt the hairs on his neck stand on end. His forehead had built up sweat. A chill ran through his body. He froze in place and saw a blue light materializing and forming into a flesh-and-blood man.

“Please don’t be frightened; I know you have questions, but unfortunately I can’t give you those.” The naked man said,.

“You can’t or won’t.” Ryan managed to say.

“To be honest, I really don’t want to, but given that you are behind your training, I decided to suck Rachel in along with you and Dagron.” The man was now holding the dragon and playing with it as if they knew one another.

“So what can you tell then?” Ryan asked, “What exactly are you going to do with Rachel?”

“Don’t worry, she’s fine or should be if you save her in four minutes: fifty-five, fifty-four, fifty-three.” The man said he was continuing to count down.

Ryan found the strength to free himself from the death gaze his opponent had bewitched him with. He ran towards the man and held a broken piece of wood that looked like a makeshift wand. He cast his most powerful attack and used the stick. The spell went twenty feet to the right and exploded a tree. The figure disappeared, and in its place, a fig sprout was planted.

“Hurry Ryan, don’t forget about your time limit, tick toke.” The voice echoed through the woods and then faded away.

Ryan held the wand in his hand and broke it. The stick fell to the ground, and Ryan ran off to find another tree.

“Damn stick, that teaches me to use the first tree I come across.” Ryan admitted out loud, “So that must be why high-level wizards began to use staffs.”

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

Ryan went off to the deep woods. The forest was over sixty-eight thousand square miles. The forest was littered with various trees found on this earth. He was running when he found a fresh, young tree. It was about eight feet tall, straight, and strong. Not just one, but three trees entangled into a braid, then fused together. The trees were called dragon trees. He quickly kneeled and chanted a prayer. He dug up the roots and clipped the unnecessary, long roots. He managed to get all the dirt out and cut the top to the appropriate length. He used a quartz crystal he found, and the roots wrapped around the crystal and illuminated themselves. Ryan was ready; he ran to the woods, and with a quick spell, he found red particles leading him to Rachel.

“I have to thank that old lady for making me learn all those tree types.” Ryan exclaimed as he looked over his new staff. “This should do for now; let’s get him here.”

Ryan cast a spell, and a green and yellow light burst into life. A wysp about the size of a baseball was flying around Ryan. The sound of bells rang through the forest. The. Wysp flew in the eastern direction, and he ran. The dead foliage crunched under Ryan’s sneakers. He ran through a thick, dense forest, and the small branches snapped back at his legs. He knew that when this was over his legs, it was going to be black and purple. He reached a cave, and the wysp flew around the entrance and dissolved into nothing. He grabbed a branch and broke it. He grabbed some dead grass and bundled it up. He used the magnesium bar from his wallet and the knife to ignite the carbon fiber that was sitting in the dead grass. With one ignition, the sparks lit the carbon, and the dead grass was set on fire. He used the oil from the container he had on his belt. He splashed the ripped jeans fabric that was wrapped around the torch. He lit it, and the torch was now lighting the dark cavern. He appeared to be a fork in the cave. He kneeled down, grabbed some dirt, and dropped it in a steady stream, then chanted a prayer. The dirt began to glow, and the dust was landing on each footprint. A set of very large footprints that belong to a creature that went to the left. Then another set of human-sized shoes also went in the same direction. He also noticed that there were small footprints with three claws.

“You’ve got to be kidding me; now I have to fight this thing.” Ryan said it out loud: "Not to mention that there are goblins in her."

A scream was heard from the left side. Ryan ran down to the cavern and saw an enormous room that was well lit. In the center, there was an elf. The elf was chained to a wooden cross. Her arms had been bound by rope to each wooden cross. Her lower torso just hung there like a rag doll. Ryan ran towards her, then stopped as he thought about the situation. He looked around and saw an invisible fishing line. He brought up his staff, and the crystal began to glow. The invisible string was illuminated, and a prism-colored light reflected through them. He carefully walked through the trap and came to the elf. When he looked up at her, he saw that she was dead. Her throat had been cut, dried blood was already cracking, and half of it was flaked. He looked around and saw the entrance close. A huge stone boulder had been placed in front.

“Goddamn it.” Ryan shouted, “Bb gsv svzevmh zylev tizmg nv z uriv yozhg!”

The crystal glowed red, and a small yellow ball appeared. The ball began to grow, and flames erupted around it. He sent his will through it, and the ball was sent flying towards the stone door. The room was illuminated, and the flame attack hit the stone, leaving it unharmed. The room was dimming, and he let the flames die out.

"Well, that usually works.” Ryan thought out loud, “I must be protected by a strong enchantment; I have to find an alternative way out.”

He kneeled down and grabbed a handful of dirt. He took the torch, placed it on the ground, and dropped the dirt in a slow and steady stream. The small air currents caught the dirt, and he followed it to a small crack in the wall. He used his finger to finger the crack. Small flakes and pebbles fell to the ground. He sighed and kicked the rock wall. He heard a grunting wooden gear turn, and the wall depressed and sank in. He used both arms and pushed the door into the wall, and then it turned and showed its inner workings. It was lifted on wooden shafts, and with gears, it rolled back to three metal hinges on the right and swung out. When he walked out, he saw hoards of goblins. There were red rags with their coats of arms on them. Shamans began to cast spells, and Ryan used a spell, and a barrie was erected. The arrows and small golfball-sized fireballs hit the barrier.

“Well, I guess the test is to defeat these creatures.” He said, with his staff, that he concentrated his power on the staff, and a basketball-sized fireball went flying towards several goblins. “I hope that takes care of those pesky demons.”

On the second level, the ball exploded on the wooden structure that was attached to the cave. This caused the structure to collapse, causing a large portion of the wall to fall and destroy the lower floor. Several of the arrows came to a stop. The only goblins left were the ones who didn’t have any magic, so they ran. He let out a big breath, and the barrier went down. He entered the large cathedral-style hallway. The broken ledge and wall were scattered across the floor. The bodies of dead goblins lay still. He saw the spiral staircase and was down to the bottom within minutes. He looked around and saw the large, dark oak doors. They stood ten feet from the ground. He tried to open them, but found that he was too weak to do so. He looked around the painted glass and tried to break it, but with no luck. He stopped trying to break the glass after the tenth attempt at repairing itself.

"Oh, come on, if I didn’t know any better, I would say I was getting even stronger.” Ryan said, "Well, let’s see what else there is.”

He looked around the stone interior of the cave. He used a knife and ran it along any possible man-made structure. He found the corner of a hidden door and used his magic to open the door. Inside was an empty room; the walls were bare, and the only thing visible was a sigil. The bright green light was illuminated, and the rays stood four feet high. The hum of the circle echoed through the door and was magnified by the bigger room. Ryan sighed and walked in. He walked to the center of the circle, and he glowed a bright white color and was gone. The only thing left was green sparkling lights falling down to the ground.
