Chapter 22: The battle of Light and Dark

Chapter 22: The battle of Light and Dark

I use the same smoke egg to teleport myself to the Moai statues. I arrive and it is springtime here as well. I am relieved that winter has ended for now, until it is December again. Anyway, I walk and stand in the middle of the statues. The ground shakes and reveals the same tunnel underground.

I crawl in and out of the tunnel. The Rabaca drawings on the walls are old and worn out. It looks like the Rabbit Realm is dying. I step into the shiny river that has crystals in it and continues walking into the tunnel. The water is getting deeper as I am walking further. I follow the bright light at the end of the tunnel that leads to the water slide. The current of the river pulls me towards it.

“Here we go again!” I shout.

The water slide twists and turns. It washes me into the lake. I scream as I fall into the lake. I swim up to the surface and gasp for breath. Ahead of me is the other tunnel. I hold the Golden Egg and it is glowing in the tunnel.

I swim as fast as I can to the end of the tunnel. The river in the tunnel is swallowing. I walk towards the end. There isn’t any light at the end but I keep on walking. I make it to the end of the tunnel and my legs are tired. I look up at the very high ceiling and it is covered with dark gray clouds. All the beautiful mountains are covered in snow, even the valleys, the villages, and the castles. The lakes are frozen solid. Everything is covered in ice and snow. The cold wind is blowing in the air. I feel cold and wet from swimming. I look up to find the yellow sun crystal. It is blocked by the dark gray snowy clouds. I look down to find my village. I turn to the south and find Trodant Village, my home. I jump off the edge of the cliff and land on the snowy ground. I run and head for Chivem Land.

I do not feel afraid to enter that land again. I leap high and land on a large mountain. I jump onto another mountain as I am hopping on top of the snowy mountains one by one. I try not to slip or fall. If I do then the Shadow Rabbits will get me. I stop for a moment to think. I stare at my Golden Egg.

I look up at the stormy clouds. “I hope this plan works.” I sigh.

Then a shadow dashes right past me. I look around to find the shadow. I aim my Golden Egg in front of me. The Golden Egg glows as I hold onto it. Another shadow runs past me. I try not to be scared or pant with fear.

“Look, I don’t want to fight you. I just want to save you,” I say.

I turn around and do not see any more shadows coming. I look down and scream only once. I sigh and laugh as I pat my heart.

“Afraid of my own shadow, ha, ridicules,” I chuckle nervously.

Then my shadow under me is slowly changing into a freaky Shadow Rabbit. The Shadow Rabbit must have been hiding in my shadow all along. My laughing changes into whimpering. I take a deep breath and let it out.

“No more bein’ a wimp! I am the son of the Eastah’ Bunny. Brave and bold!” I shout.

I aim my Golden Egg at the Shadow Rabbit. The Shadow Rabbit screeches and runs away.

I run after it. “Wait!” I call.

But the Shadow Rabbit will not stop running away from my Golden Egg. The Shadow Rabbit runs into Deegra Forest. I know that the forest is named after Deegra and that he might not be happy to see me again. But I need to know where my mom and dad are right now. I run into Deegra Forest and chase after the Shadow Rabbit. The Shadow Rabbit dodges a few tree branches. It looks like it is trying to lose me, but I keep my eye on it. I jump and hop around tree branches. The Shadow Rabbit jumps high into the air and I leap after it. I reach out to grab the Shadow Rabbit's left leg. I finally catch it. The Shadow Rabbit kicks my face. I fall onto the ground. I look around to find the Shadow Rabbit. It is nowhere in sight.

I continue running towards the south and to Trodant Village. I made it out of Deegra Forest and into Trodant Village. There is a lot of fighting that has begun without me.

The seven Kings and Queens are fighting the Shadow Rabbits. They are trying to dodge the Shadow Rabbit's attacks, but they are not doing so well. The Shadow Rabbits are winning and the Rabaca’s are losing. Deegra and Clover are fighting the Shadow Rabbits are kicking and punching them. The Kings and Queens are also kicking and punching some Shadow Rabbits. I look around to find my Rabaca mom and dad. They are nowhere to be seen. I jump and join the battle.

I use my Golden Egg to scare away any Shadow Rabbits that come near me. Deegra spots me. He runs up to me and punches a few Shadow Rabbits in his way. I turn around and notice Deegra running up to me. He looks angry.

“Now, now, now, now listen before you beat me. We need to do somethin’ about these Shadow Rabbits.” I stutter.

But Deegra still looks angry at me. I cover my head with my arms as I wait for Deegra to attack me. Deegra leaps over me and slams on top of a Shadow Rabbit that was behind me. I smile nervously at Deegra.

He is still angry at me. “Where have you been?!” he shouts.

“I have been restorin’ spring to the Human Realm,” I answer.

I shine my Golden Egg at another Shadow Rabbit right behind Deegra. It runs away screeching loudly.

Deegra hits my arm. “Then why is it still winter here?” he asks.

I look up at the dark gray clouds. I look back at Deegra.

“I need you to help me, mate,” I say.

Deegra punches a Shadow Rabbit and it groans in pain. It collapses on the ground.

“After you abandoned us, why should I help you?” asks Deegra.

Clover jumps onto a few Shadow Rabbits and runs towards Deegra and me.

She lands right in front of me. “What are you to arguing about at a time like this?” she asks.

“Jake wants my help, but he’s not going to get any of it from me.” Deegra punches another Shadow Rabbit.

Clover jumps over me and kicks another Shadow Rabbit. She walks up to me with her cute smile. Our furry lips meet. Deegra turns away and rolls his eyes, looking rather annoyed from our kissing. Our lips separate from each other.

I laugh and sigh quietly. “Wow, thanks.” I chuckle.

“Now, what do you need help with?” asks Clover.

I point at the dark grey clouds.

“I need to put the last piece of the dark purple shadow crystal in that sun crystal,” I say.

“Can’t you just use your Golden Egg to connect the sun crystal and get rid of these Shadow Rabbits once and for all like you said you would?” asks Clover.

“It won’t work unless the huge sun crystal gets repaired. I need my bird. He has the sun crystal,” I answer.

Clover grabs my paw and leads me into the battle.

“Follow me!” she shouts.

“Okay.” I nod.

Clover and I are fighting a few Shadow Rabbits in our path. We punch and kick to keep them away way from us. I spot the chubby King Famernt fighting a few Shadow Rabbits. He is using his chubby furry belly to slam and punch a few Shadow Rabbits. I spot King Ochinm the yellow muscular Rabaca fighting and punching as well. They stop fighting and run to Clover and me.

“So what did anyone say aftah’ you told them that I wrapped you guys up with vines?” I ask.

“They said that you just might be the right Rabaca to save us all. After that the snowstorm has gotten worse in this Realm, we all agreed to do your plan,” answers King Famernt.

I nod. “And they might be right about the snowstorm and me too,” I say.

Up ahead of me are my Rabaca mom and dad, Silver and Edd. They’re both fighting a few Shadow Rabbits as well. Silver is using the light of her Silver Egg to scare away some Shadow Rabbits. Edd is using a yellow sun crystal to scare them away too. But it is not the same yellow crystal as the huge sun crystal. It’s more like a light or fire glow crystal. I up run to my Rabaca parents to help them out. I use the golden light to scare away a few Shadow Rabbits.

Silver and Edd hug me. “Son, I’m so glad you’re safe.” Edd chuckles.

We release our hugging. “I found grandpa and restored spring to the Human Realm,” I say.

Edd pushes me onto the ground and shines a yellow light at a Shadow Rabbit. I stand back up and look around the battle.

“I thought that the Shadow Rabbits were banished to Chivem Land,” I say.

“Me too, but I assume my big brother, Dronko, made them come out of Chivem Land. Since the sun crystal is covered by these snow clouds, the Shadow Rabbits can go where ever they please,” answers Edd.

“I need to find my big bird. He has the missin’ piece of the dark purple crystal. I need to restore it on the huge crystal. Then I can use the Golden Egg to shine it onto the sun crystal and make the golden light shine everywhere and through the clouds too. That’ll free our Rabaca’s in their Shadow Rabbit forms,” I say.

“You go, son. I’ll take care of these Shadow Rabbits,” says Edd.

Deegra stands next to Edd. “We will take care of them,” he adds.

I run out of the battle. Clover and Silver are following me. I stop running and look around. I am looking for someone.

“Where’s Flow?” I ask.

Clover drops her head. She looks sad.

“She’s been changed into a Shadow Rabbit again,” answers Silver.

I pant with anger, stomp my feet, and then calm down.

“No mattah’, I will free her and the othah’ Rabaca’s too,” I say.

Clover nods. She raises her head back up and lets out a loud tweet like a bird. She is calling my bird that has the purple dark crystal. I look up at the clouds to find my big hummingbird. The hummingbird flies down to form the dark grey clouds and towards me. It lands in front of me. I walk towards it and chuckle.

I pet its head. “Hey, there mate. Do you have what I need?” I ask.

The big hummingbird nods and begins to gag. Clover and Silver step away. I step away from the big hummingbird as it gags some more. It spits out the dark purple crystal that is shaped like an egg. It is covered with clear bird spit. Clover, Silver, and I are grossed out. I pick up the purple crystal and shake the spit off of it.

“Okay, that was gross, but thanks for guardin’ it mate,” I say.

The big hummingbird nods. I jump onto the hummingbird's back and point at the clouds.

“Take off!” I shout.

The hummingbird flaps his wings and takes off into the air. Clover and Silver wave at me. I wave back at them. I turn back to the dark gray clouds and sit on the bird's back. I hold onto the Golden Egg and the purple crystal. We fly into the dark gray clouds. The wind feels very cold and wet. So cold that the bird I am riding is flapping slowly. I put the bird's head.

“It’s all right. Keep goin’ up, chick,” I say.

The hummingbird is now confident. We are still flying in the stormy clouds. We are almost out of them

"Hey, Jake!” shouts a deep voice.

It sounds like Dronko. I ignore his call. Then I hear a scream.

I gasp because I know that scream anywhere. “Candy?” I whisper.

I lower my head to the bird’s ears. “Go down now!” I shout.

The hummingbird flies down and we are out of dark gray clouds. We made it out and land on the ground. I jump off of its back. Dronko is standing in the middle of the Shadow Rabbit army. The battle has stopped for now.

The Rabaca’s have stopped fighting the Shadow Rabbits. Dronko is holding Candy hostage. He has his paws on Candy’s shoulders.

I gasp and feel very worried for my little adopted sister. Silver, Edd, Clover, Deegra, and the Kings and Queens so do not go near Dronko. Otherwise, he might hurt my little sister.

I feel paralyzed but very angry. “That’s my little sistah’ you bloody bloke!” I shout.

Dronko growls and stares at me. “I know. She is quite the distraction, isn’t she?” he grins.

My rabbit ears drop. “You heard me?” I ask.

Dronko nods. “Yes, I heard everything at the cabin. I heard that this little kid believed and made you found a reason to bring back spring. She is the one who made you become the next Easter Bunny,” he answers so evilly.

I aim my Golden Egg at Dronko. But before I can let out some golden light, Dronko places his other paw on Candy’s head. Claws are growing out of Dronko’s fingers. Dronko shakes his head. Deegra runs towards Dronko but I stop him.

“Don’t do anythin’ stupid! He’s got my little sistah’ as a hostage!” I shout.

Deegra grunts with anger and walks back with the other Rabacas. I lower my Golden Egg.

Dronko points at my Golden Egg. “Put…it…down…now,” he commands.

I sigh and drop my Golden Egg in the snow. Dronko points at one of my pockets.

“Hand…it…over…now,” he commands.

I take out the dark purple crystal and throw it to my evil Rabaca uncle. Dronko caches it.

I drop to my knees. “Now, please let my sistah’ go,” I beg.

Dronko does not remove his paws from Candy’s head or her shoulders.

“I never said anything about letting her go,” he says.

Edd and Silver paint with anger.

I shake and beg some more. “Please uncle Dronko…” Dronko kicks my face.

I fall flat on my back.

“Don’t ever call me uncle, ever again!” he boasts.

I wipe a bit of blood off of my nose. “Please Dronko, what can I do to set Candy free?” I ask.

Dronko steps into my throat. I grunt as I cannot breathe.

“You can suffer!” shouts Dronko.

Candy growls and bites Dronko’s paw. Dronko screams and lets Candy go. Candy runs to Clover. The Kings and Queens stand in front of Candy to protect her. Dronko moves his large foot off of my throat. I cough and slowly stand up on my feet.

Dronko points at Edd. “It should have been me! I should have been chosen! Not you! Or your pathetic excuse of a son!” he bellows.

I shake my head. “I think I know why my grandfathah’ chose my dad instead of you, uncle Dronko,” I say.

Dronko slowly turns to me with a furious look. “You know nothing,” he whispers.

“I think that all you wanted was powah’ and control. You wanted to prove to my grandfathah’ that you can be more powah’ful than any othah’ Eastah’ Bunny. So you took a piece off of the huge shadow crystal and that corrupted you,” I say.

Dronko raises the dark purple crystal in the air. “This dark purple crystal made me become what I am today! And that is to be more powerful than any other Easter Bunnies! Sure I kidnapped a couple of baby Rabaca’s to build my army. If I have to do it again, then I must! And you won’t stop me!” he shouts.

I laugh and shake my head. “It’s too late mate. I’ve already restored spring to the Human Realm,” I say.

Dronko gasps and growls. I stretch my paws and my Golden Egg hovers away from Dronko. It lands on my paw.

“Now, I’m goin’ to do the same here,” I say.

Dronko grins at me and shows the dark purple crystal that I gave to him. “Not without this. Your plan won’t work without the sun crystal being completed,” he says.

I let my Golden Egg glow and put it on my staff.

“Well then, I guess I’ll have to fight you for it,” I say.

Clover, Silver, Edd, Candy, Deegra, and Fluffy are surprised by what I just said. And so are the Rabaca Kings and Queens. The Shadow Rabbits look at each other and then back at Dronko. Dronko chuckles and squeezes the purple crystal in his paw. Purple mist surrounds Dronko as he is controlling the purple crystal. I am controlling the golden light from my Golden Egg.

Dronko chuckles evilly. “You want to fight? So be it.” He chuckles.

Dronko turns to the Shadow Rabbits. “Attack!” he shouts.

The Shadow Rabbits charge at me. I scare them with my golden light and they scream with pain. Silver, Edd, Deegra, and Fluffy, charge at the Shadow Rabbits. They are punching and kicking to keep them away from me. Candy is being protected by Clover.

Clover gets out her small piece of a yellow crystal and uses it to light up the battle. The Kings and Queens join in the battle. Deegra is protecting Candy as he kicks and punches a few Shadow Rabbits near him. The Shadow Rabbits cannot be destroyed, they can only get weak by the sun crystal that Clover has.

Dronko charges at me. I stop him by wrapping some vines all over his body. Dronko struggles and breaks the vines. He is controlling some black vines from underground. The black vines are crawling toward me. They have thorns on them. I leap into the air and the blackthorns are following me. I aim my Golden Egg at the thorns and they shiver like ashes. Dronko growls and leaps into the air.

He grabs my legs and throws me very hard onto the ground. I do not slam. I land safely on my feet. Dronko lands on his feet and draws his large samurai sword. He charges at me while swinging his sword. I dodge his sword attacks while blocking my staff. Dronko tries to punch me but I dodge his punches.

I leap very high in the air and land in Chivem Land. I am on top of a snowy mountain. Dronko leaps after me with purple mist surrounding him. I aim my Golden Egg at Dronko’s face. But the dark purple mist that is surrounding him seemed to be stronger than my golden light. Dronko grabs my neck and raises me in the air.

“Pathetic!” he throws me down the mountain.

I fall on my back and my Golden Egg staff slips out of my grip. Dronko grabs my staff. The Golden Egg glows brighter. It is hurting Dronko’s eyes. Dronko tries to not let go of my staff. He controls the purple mist to let it cover my Golden Egg. The golden light slowly fades into the dark purple mist.

I slowly get up on my feet. I do not have my Golden Dronko Egg staff. Dronko has it!

My staff is not golden anymore, it is black and purple.

Dronko chuckles evilly. “Do you know why darkness is more powerful than light?” he asks.

I do not answer. Dronko bursts some dark mist at my body. It hits and begins to weaken me. I fall flat on my face. I feel very cold. Like a snowstorm blowing its icy cold wind. Dronko slowly walks up to me with his long sword dragging in the snow.

“Darkness is more powerful because nighttime last longer in autumn and in winter, and because space is always dark. You can not hide from it. There can be no light without darkness. And darkness will always win at the end of the day when night comes. After I kill you, your Realms and your family will all have been for nothing!” he shouts.

I pant and grunt as I try to back get up, but the dark purple cold mist feels like a car holding me down. “What did you do to grandpa Tuckah?!” I shout.

“Oh my old man, he didn’t put much of a fight,” answers Dronko.

I am panting roughly. “You couldn’t have killed him,” I beg.

Dronko nods. “You see my sword?” he chuckles.

He presses his sharp sword onto my back. I groan loudly with pain as I feel the sword pushing deeper into my fur. I shut my eyes tightly. Dronko raises my staff that has the dark mist all over it.

“I’m now going to do what I did you your grandpa!” he shouts.

I scream with pain. “You aint goanna win!” I shout.

I open my eyes as I stare at my staff. The dark mist crawls away off of my staff and shines with its golden light. Dronko removes his sword from my back and screams in pain. But he won’t let go of my bright golden staff. Dronko cannot take it anymore. He drops my staff. I quickly grab it and aim at Dronko. The light from the Golden Egg bursts out of it. Dronko aims the dark purple crystal at me. Dark purple mists burst out of the crystal. My golden light and Dronko’s dark mist hit each other. It feels like a pushing fight against light and dark. I try to use all of my might and strength to push the dark purple mist away. But it feels like darkness is stronger. I cannot hold it any longer. I grunt and my legs tremble. My arms shake and feel very weak. Dronko chuckles loudly.

I drop onto my knees, feeling weaker. Then a paw holds onto my staff along with me.

Dronko gasps with shock and wide eyes. “Impossible!” he shouts.

I turn my head to see who is holding onto my staff with me. It is Grandpa Tucker! I cannot believe he is still alive. Neither can Dronko.

“Crikey, I thought you were dead!” I shout.

Grandpa Tucker winks at me. “The plants in my pots help me heal my wound, mate,” he says.

“They can do that?” I ask.

Grandpa Tucker nods. “Only the plants from this Realm,” he answers. “Now, let’s help you win against this darkness,” says Tucker.

I nod. We both concentrate on the golden light as it pushes the dark purple mist away from us and toward Dronko. Dronko grunts as he begins to shake with weakness. He tries to push the dark purple mist back to us. But our golden light is now stronger than his dark power. The dark purple mist around Dronko slowly fades away. Dronko roars in pain as the golden beam hits his chest. The dark purple crystal slips from his grip. Dronko falls onto the ground, panting roughly.

I lower my staff and sigh. “Thanks, grandpa,” I say.

Grandpa Tucker gives me a nudge on my head. “Just remembah’ Jake, the plants in the Rabbit Realm are your friends. They can heal you and protect you, but only if you grow plants from the Rabbit Realm in the Human Realm. They can be your friends,” says Grandpa Tucker.

“So I can’t control the plants in the Human Realm? I’ve just controlled them when I brought spring back,” I say.

“Only on the day of the Spring Equinox can you be able to control the Human Realm plants. The plants just do what they normally do in the Human Realm. But as I said, the plants will be there for you, the plants from the Rabbit Realm is what I mean,” says Grandpa Tucker.

“And so will the Rabaca’s, they’ll be there for me too,” I say.

Grandpa Tucker nods.

I gasp and forgot about the Rabaca’s. “The Shadow Rabbits!” I shout.

I walk up to Dronko and pick up the dark purple crystal.

Dronko grunts. “That’s…my…army!” he shouts.

I walk away from Dronko with a smile. “It nevah’ was, uncle,” I say.

I jump onto the top of the mountain and call for my big hummingbird. There is no sign of him. I call again and still, there is no sign of my big hummingbird. I look down to find him. He is still nowhere in sight. I notice the battle in Trodant Village beginning to cease. The Shadow Rabbits are just around. They have stopped fighting. The Rabaca Kings and Queens have stopped fighting as well.

I look up and the dark gray clouds still are covering everything. The huge sun crystal is still behind the clouds and the snow is still falling. I look around to find the Tree of the Realm. I see it far away. It’s at least ten or twelve miles. It is covered with lots of snow. It doesn’t look dead or shriveled up anymore. It is standing proudly. I am my Golden Egg staff at the Tree of the Realm. The snow on the tree begins to melt and the leaves are colorful again.

I laugh and begin to cry. “The tree is back and so is spring.” I wipe my tears.

I look around for my big hummingbird and there is still no sign of him.

“How can I repair the sun crystal without my flyin’ bird?” I ask myself.

I drop my head. I have no idea what to do. I look at my Rabbit feet and wiggle my toes.

With a smile, I look back up. “I guess there’s only one way. I have’ta jump, very high,” I say.

I hold onto my Golden Egg staff and the dark purple crystal with both paws. I bend my knees as much as I can. I keep my eye on the huge sun crystal that is shining through the clouds. I take a deep breath and finally leap very high.

I am flying into the air as snow is blowing on my face. Candy notices me leaping in the air.

“Look it's Jake!” she points.

Deegra, Edd, Silver, Fluffy, and Clover look up at me. And do the Kings and Queens. Even the Shadow Rabbits are looking up at me. Silver and Edd look at each other.

“Can he leap higher than any other Rabaca?” asks Silver.

“I know I did. And so did all of the other Easter Bunnies,” answers Edd.

“But he’s too young and this is probably his first time leaping very high,” says Silver.

“He can do it. I know I did,” says Edd

I continue flying toward the clouds. I pass through the clouds and head straight towards the huge sun crystal.

I stretch my paws. “Come on, just a bit furthah’!” I shout.

My flying begins to slow down a little. But I keep reaching for the huge sun crystal. My gliding is slowing down. I scream and barely touch the sun crystal. It is bigger than the tree of the Realm. It is as big as a mountain. It is shaped like an egg. It is one of the most ignoramus things I’ve ever seen.

I miss the sun crystal as I fall away from it. I have to think of something fast. I spot a piece missing at the bottom of the sun crystal. That must be the missing place for the shadow crystal. I throw the Golden Egg and purple dark crystal towards the huge sun crystal. The dark piece of the sun crystal sticks back into the missing piece. The Golden Egg hits the sun crystal. The huge slowly changes into a golden bright color. Its golden rays shine through the stormy clouds.

Now I am falling! My hooded jacket and my rabbit ears flap in the wind as I am falling. I stare at the ground and it looks like a very far fall. But the ground is getting closer. I flap my paws and call for my hummingbird. There is no sign of him.

Edd takes a deep breath and bends his legs. He leaps into the air, but only a couple of feet high. Edd lands on his feet and his legs tremble.

Silver helps him up. “Not as young as I once was,” he says.

I am still falling. The ground is getting closer to me. I close my eyes and wait for the last thump on the ground. It never came. I slowly open my eyes. I am riding on my hummingbird’s back.

I pant and pat my chest. “About time you big bird,” I say.

The big hummingbird tweets happily at me. He glides and lands on the ground. I slide off of the hummingbird’s back. I look up at the sun crystal and it spreads its golden sun rays all over the Realm. The dark gray snowy clouds slowly change into the rain. The rain feels warm and is melting the snow. Flowers and little trees are to pop out of the ground. The little trees are colorful with many light colors. The weather feels warm and wet. The icy lakes and the rivers are flowing again.

The Shadow Rabbits cover their eyes and squeal loudly. The golden light shines right on all of the Shadow Rabbit's chests. The Shadow Rabbits squeal with pain. The black shadows begin to peel off. Light colorful furs are revealing.

Light orange, blue, red, yellow, gray, and torques furs are revealing. Some Rabacas are males and female. And some are little Rabaca’s. Even my adopted sister Flow is back.

The peeling Shadow Rabbits melt with the snow. All the Rabaca’s that use to be Shadow Rabbits are free from Dronko’s power. They all look at each other and laugh for joy. The seven Kings and Queens run to their loved ones that used to be Shadow Rabbits. They hug and laugh. Everyone is happy to be together again. Clover runs to Flow and hugs her.

Candy runs and hugs me. “Jake, you did it!” she laughs.

“No, we did it. I couldn’t have done it without your help, little sis,” I say.

Candy chuckles. “I know,” she says proudly.

Edd and Silver join the group hug.

“Mom, dad, good to see you again,” I say.

“You too son, you too,” says Edd.

Deegra walks up to me and pats my back.

“I have to admit, I didn’t know you had it in you. I’m sorry that I wanted to kill your uncle. I thought that it would be easy to just kill the source of the leader of the Shadow Rabbits,” he says.

I nod and hug Deegra. “It’s all right mate.” I release my hug. “Like my Rabaca mom said to me, if there is one thing I know, you can’t give up on family. And she is right.” I turn to Silver, my Rabaca mom.

Silver gives me a nudge on my head. “That’s right son,” she chuckles.

I let out a loud sigh. “Besides, we’re all brothah’s and sistah’s,” I say.

“What do you mean by that, Jake?” asks Edd.

“Well, if you think about Eastah’ and bunnies, one rabbit mothah’ can give birth to at least a ton of baby bunnies. I think it’s the same with us Rabaca’s. I mean, no wondah’ why there’s so many Rabaca’s,” I answer.

Silver nods. “That’s true, but only the Kings, the Queens, and other Rabaca’s can have more than one child. Not us,” she says.

I shake my head and freeze for a moment. “Hang on a sec! Are you tryin’ to tell me that the Eastah’ Bunny’s wife can only have a child?” I ask.

“Yes. That’s exactly what I’m saying. There can only be one Easter Bunny at a time, male or female. But sometimes they are males,” says Silver.

“Wait for a second, again! When my fathah’ Edd, was the Eastah’ Bunny he had a brothah’. That means two babies Rabaca’s were born from Grandma Tuckah’. I thought you said that the Eastah’ Bunny’s wife can only have one child?” I ask.

Edd clears his throat. “Sometimes the wife only has no more than two baby rabbits. But only one can be chosen as the Easter Bunny,” he answers.

“Who chooses and why?” I ask.

“Someone ells,” says Edd.

“Who?” I ask.

“Edd, Jake, help me!” shouts Grandpa Tucker.

He is carrying Dronko on his back. Edd and I turn around to Grandpa Tucker and Dronko. We help carry Dronko. His arm is over my shoulder and his other arm is over Edds.

All Dronko does is growl at me. “Why are you helping me?” he mumbles.

“You are my uncle,” I answer.

“I told you to never call me that!” he grunts.

The Rabaca Kings and Queens gather around Dronko. Deegra stares and shakes his head.

“Dronko son of Tucker, uncle of Jake, and brother of Edd, you are trailed for tampering with dark magic, kidnapping, and breaking our laws. The penalty is not death. We confirm you to the dungeon, for all time. You will be powerless and helpless,” says Deegra.

Dronko lets out a weak laugh and shakes his head. “You are all pathetic! You won’t kill me because of your pathetic laws! Mark my words, I will get my powers back, and when I do, it will only be the beginning!” shouts Dronko.

Deegra points at King Ferant and King Ochinm. “Take him away!” shouts Deegra.

The two kings grab Dronko by his arms and drag him to Deegra castle. I watch as my uncle is being dragged away. Dronko turns back to me and frowns. He makes a look on his face that I see for the very first time.

He looks like he’s very sorry for everything. But I have a gut feeling that he cannot be trusted. I look away from him. I feel kind of sad for him.
