Chapter 12: Reunited

We leave the ruins of Trodant Village. Ferant Castle is now a pile of debris and dust. It still puzzles me why the Shadow Rabbits would take the small rabbits from Trodant Village. My memory of Trodant Village when I was a baby rabbit is still a bit blurry. I get fragments and little pictures in my mind about what happened in Trodant Village. Like a bad movie projector.

Candy loves Fluffy, the small light blue rabbit that we rescued.

I nod and quietly chuckle. “I still think that it’s a silly name for that rabbit,” I say.

Candy rolls her eyes at me. “Why because you think the name reminds of you?” she asks.

I scratch my ear with my foot. I do not want to answer Candy’s ridiculous question. I am too focused on the Golden Egg. It is leading us away from the village.

We pass a very long river. Near the river are huge rainbow hummingbirds. They are drinking the water as they tweet in harmony. They sound like wind chimes.

The river is choppy with rocks and rough splashes. We cannot swim in it. Just beyond the river is another small village. It is so far away that it kind of looks like a miniature doll set. I squint to see if I can see the village better, but it still looks so small and far away. I rise the Golden Egg and it shines directly at the village and over the long rough river. I look around. There is no way across the river.

“Oi Clovah’, is there any way around this rivah’?” I ask.

“No. It would take us days to go around it,” answers Clover.

I groan and roll my eyes.

I turn to Clover. “We don’t have that much time,” I say.

“We have plenty of time,” says Clover.

“Not while the Human Realm is sufferin’ from endless wintah’!” I bloat.

“Are you in a hurry?” asks Clover.

“Yes! I need to find the next Eastah’ Bunny! He might be the only one who can stop the endless wintah’ in the Human Realm!” I shout.

Clover sighs and places her paw on my chest. “Relax,” she says.

I sigh and calm my tone. “I’m sorry for burstin’. It’s just that I promised my human parents that when I return home, wintah’ will end. And I intend to keep my promise,” I say.

Clover nods and walks to one of the big rainbow hummingbirds near the rough river. She taps one of them. The big bird turns around and tweets at Clover. Clover pets its long yellow beak.

“We need to get to Deegra Village. It’s just over this rough river,” says Clover to the big bird.

It seems a bit weird for Clover talking to a big rainbow hummingbird.

“Is she talkin’ to a bird?” I ask myself.

Fluffy the small light blue rabbit nods.

“Everyone can talk to these big birds and big bugs,” he answers.

I look down at Fluffy. “But why are these birds and bugs big in this Realm?” I ask.

“It just has been that way ever since the beginning of time,” answers Fluffy.

“No, no, no, no, birds and bugs aint that big in the Human Realm. They are really small. But why are they big in this Realm?” I ask.

Fluffy scrunches his shoulders. He does not know.

Clover is done talking to the big rainbow hummingbird. She walks to Candy, Fluffy, and me. The big hummingbird is following her along with the other two hummingbirds.

“They said that they will help us get to Deegra Village in no time,” says Clover.

I point at the town that is so far away from the rough river. “Is that Deegra Village?” I ask.

Clover nods. I look at one of the big rainbow hummingbirds and then back at Deegra Village. I have a terrible feeling about what Clover is thinking about how to get to Deegra Village. I step away from the big hummingbirds and chuckle nervously.

“Don’t worry Candy we’ll find anothah’ way around this rivah’,” I say.

Candy watches one of the big hummingbirds. It kneels on the ground. Clover tilts her head to the hummingbird. Candy smiles, giggles, and runs to the big hummingbird. Fluffy follows her.

I try to stop Candy. “Candy no! It’s way too dangerous!” I shout.

Candy and Fluffy crawl onto the hummingbird's back. Candy wraps her arms around its neck and Fluffy sits on top of Candy’s back. They are excited to ride. I however feel very terrified. Clover jumps onto another big rainbow hummingbird. There is only one left and it is for me. I shake my head and my legs begin to shake. I begin to pant quietly.

Clover waves at me. “Come on!” she shouts.

I continue shaking my head.

“I’ll find anothah’ way,” I say.

“What are you afraid of?” asks Clover.

I rub the back of my head. “I am afraid of not bein’ on the bloody ground!” I shout.

Clover turns to Candy. Candy gently shakes her head.

“Don’t blame him. When we flew an airplane to Easter Island, he wouldn’t stop shaking the entire flight. He shut his eyes and prayed all the way. He didn’t sleep or eat, he just prayed. He’s afraid of flying and I’ve just figured that out while flying on the plane with him,” says Candy.

Clover nods. “Oh, I see.” She turns to me and pats the birds back.

“Would it make you feel a bit better if you ride with me?” she asks.

I shake and continue panting with fear. I gulp and slowly walk toward the big hummingbird. I am trembling.

“Y-yes, it might help a l-little.” I shake.

I crawl onto the hummingbird's back and wrap my arms around Clover’s waist. I shut my eyes and wait for the hummingbird to take off. It feels like I am on a plane again which I did not enjoy.

“Hold on, both of you,” says Clover.

Candy squeals with excitement. I am still shaking with fear as my eyes are shut tightly. I notice that I am kind of squeezing Clover a little too tight. I try not to squeeze too much.

“Sorry. It’s just that I hate flyin’ and I’m scared of heights,” I say.

“And yet you took a plane and climbed high mountains to find this realm? Odd,” says Clover.

I feel like I do not want to answer. I keep my eyes shut and pant. Clover turns to Candy and Fluffy.

“I’ll lead and the rest of the birds will follow,” says Clover.

The big rainbow hummingbirds begin to flap their wings. Candy giggles with excitement. The birds leap in the air and flap their wings to fly. They flap and then glide.

I am too busy to open my eyes. I am still terrified to open them. I hear Candy laughing as she is enjoying the ride. I am never going to open my eyes until we get back on the ground safe and sound.

We finally make it to the ground. I think it took us a few minutes to get to where we needed to go. I slowly open eyes my and we are in Deegra Village.

Deegra Village looks just the same as Trodant Village. It has huts that look like eggs too. Only they have triangle roofs and the huts are light orange. Clover, Candy, and Fluffy slide off the big hummingbird back and land on the ground. I slowly slide off the bird. I land on. My legs feel a little wobbly. I am still panting after flying on the big bird. Candy runs to me hold my paw, and pats it. My panting slowly calms.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

“Crikey, that was scarier than flyin’ third class on that awful plane ride,” I say.

“I enjoyed it. The bird flight, not the plane ride. The guy who sat in front of us couldn’t shut up on his cell phone,” says Candy.

“Yes, that was annoyin’. But it kept me awake on the flight. I can’t sleep while I’m flyin’,” I say.

“I could if the annoying guy would just shut up for a moment,” says Candy.

I nod and quietly chuckle. I look around to find anyone who might be living in Deegra Village, after all the Golden Egg did lead us here. There is no one in sight. The huts have no smoke and nothing is in ruins. It looks like a cute peaceful village. Behind Deegra Village is another castle. It has the same model as Ferant Castle. It has a round egg ceiling, it is dark orange, and it has two towers on both sides. The castle is in the middle of the village. The two towers look exactly the like the other two towers from Ferant Castle.

There is still no one in sight. All the windows are shut and all of the doors are closed.

“Hello!” I shout. “Is anyone here?! I found this Golden Egg in the Human Realm and it led me here!” I shout.

I look around the village, behind the huts, and behind the castle. I do not go to the castle. I knock on one of the huts and no answer. On the side of the hut, I see a shadow. It looks like a Shadow Rabbit. Candy sees it too. She seems terrified. I stand in front of her and aim the Golden Egg at the shadow rabbit. I look around and there are no other Shadow Rabbits in sight.

“Why will it come alone?” I ask myself.

The shadow rabbit doesn’t have any glowing red eyes. I lower the Golden Egg and think that it isn’t a Shadow Rabbit after all. Because it isn’t attacking us, it doesn’t have red eyes, and it is a little bigger than a regular Shadow Rabbit. The shadow of the rabbit reveals whose shadow it is.

It is another Rabaca. Only its fur is light orange, and its jaw, belly, and chest are white. It has orange eyes. Its body is a little bigger than mine. Its fur is a lot furrier than mine, it has four green large leaves on its elbows and arms, and it has two dark green vines wrapped around its chest and around its back. It is bigger than and muscular. But it seems kind of hard to tell if it has muscles or thick fur. Either way, he is bigger than me. I feel very nervous to talk to it.

I clear my throat. “Excuse me,” I say.

The orange muscular Rabaca turns to me. He seems kind of mean. Its eyes look very serious. I cannot talk to it anymore. I am petrified with fear. Clover walks up to the orange muscular Rabaca.

“Deegra, where are the other baby Rabaca’s?” she asks.

Deegra the orange muscular Rabaca points at the castle.

“They’re in the castle,” he answers with a deep bold voice.

Deegra stares at Candy and me. I wave, smile, and quietly chuckle. Deegra whispers to Clover.

“Who’s the weird Rabaca with the weird clothes?” asks Deegra to Clover.

“Oi!” I shout. “I heard that you big bloke!” I shout back at Deegra.

Deegra slowly walks up to me and his face still looks very serious. Candy scoots away from me. I hide the Golden Egg in the front pocket of my jacket. I feel a little nervous as I look at Deegra’s face. I step back, trip, and fall on my back. I feel too scared to move.

Deegra kneels and stares at me. “Did you get infected by the flower of fear?” asks Deegra.

I shake my head and pant.

“Then why are you afraid of me?” asks Deegra.

I still cannot answer, but I have to try.

“You are just biggah’ than me. And I’ve nevah’ seen a biggah’ and more musculah’ Rabaca before,” I answer.

Deegra points at my jacket pocket.

“And where did you find that Golden Egg?” he asks.

“I found it at the park in Minnesota. That’s where I live. I found this Golden Egg and it led me to my real home. Honest, it’s the truth,” I answer.

Deegra’s eyebrows lower. His face now looks even more serious. I shut my eyes.

“Please don’t beat me big fellah’,” I say.

Deegra chuckles and pats my back. I open my eyes.

“I’m just messing with you kid,” says Deegra.

Deegra stands on his feet and so do I. I sigh and chuckle nervously.

“You messin’ with me? V-very funny,” I say even though I think it wasn’t funny at all.

Candy walks up to Deegra and stares at him. Deegra looks down at Candy.

“You’re big,” she says.

I stand in the middle of Candy and Deegra.

“Where is the Eastah’ Bunny?” I ask Deegra.

“No one knows where he is. After the old Easter Bunny gave up his responsibility, we could not find the next one,” says Deegra.

“Oh come one mate! I need to find the next Eastah’ Bunny!” I shout.

Clover walks up to me and smiles. I have no idea why she is smiling at me. Deegra doesn’t know either. We are both confused. Clover introduces me and Candy to Deegra.

“Deegra, guardian of Deegra Village, this little girl is Candy, and this is Jake Grant the next Eater Bunny,” she says.

I shake Deegra’s paw.

“Very nice to meet you Deegra, I’m from…” I stop for a moment.

“Hang on a minute there, mate!” I turn to Clover.

“You said the next Eastah’ Bunny?” I ask.

Clover nods.

Candy gasps. “No way,” she whispers.

I am now surprised. “How do you know that you might think that I might be the next Eastah’ Bunny?” I ask Clover.

Clover grabs the Golden Egg from my jacket and it does not shine as she holds onto it. She places the Golden Egg in front of my feet. The Golden Egg shines right in front of me. My rabbit ears rise and my eyes widen with shock. Clover begins to explain.

“Only the Easter Bunny can hold the power of the Golden Egg. I said that the egg belongs to the Easter Bunny. You found it and it showed you the way home,” says Clover.

I point at myself and stutter.

“Bu-bu-bu-b-b-b-b-b-b-b. Oh, crikey,” I stutter.

I pant and faint on the ground.

A few minutes have passed by and I finally wake up from my faint. I am surrounded by a lot of little rabbits. They all look like Fluffy the little blue rabbit from the ruined village. Only these little rabbits are light orange. They all look at me. I rub my head and slowly open my eyes. Clover helps me get up on my feet.

“Oi vey, what happened?” I moan.

“You fainted,” answers Candy.

“Wait. Did Clovah’ say that I was the Eastah’ Bunny?” I ask.

Clover shakes her head. “No, I said you are the next Easter Bunny. The real Easter Bunny still exists, but as I said, he’s getting old. Kind of like retiring after a certain age,” answers Clover.

“Well if he’s old, then why doesn’t his son take his place or somethin’?” I ask.

Clover winks at me. I do not know why she just did, but she might know something that I don’t.

In the middle of the crowd of orange small rabbits, I spot an older Rabaca. He is wearing a purple robe, a red belt that goes over his shoulder, and a crown that looks like a plant. The plant crown has dark green vines that twisted. It has red berries and light green leaves. In the middle of the plant crown is a flower, with green petals, and a yellow spot in the middle. The Rabaca’s fur is dark gray. He walks with a wooden staff that looks like a candy Cain with yellow and dark yellow stripes. He has a purple satchel over his shoulder.

Next to him is another Rabaca, but only this one is a female. She has silver-gray fur. She is wearing a white robe and a crown on her head too. The crown looks like the same one that the gray Rabaca has.

I feel emotionally happy as I see two Rabaca’s. I walk towards them and my eyes start to get watery. I sniff and chuckle. I look into their eyes and they look into mine. I whisper to them. I know exactly who they are.

“Mom, Dad?” I ask.

The two Rabaca’s gasps after they just heard me.

“Son?” he asks me.

I know his old strong voice. It is the same voice I heard when I was a little rabbit. I cannot speak. I feel choked up with emotion. Tears are flowing down my face. I turn to the silver furry female Rabaca. She places her paw on my face. I laugh and cry as well. Candy is crying too. She is happy for me. I hug my Rabaca mom and dad.

“Mom, dad, it’s me, Jake. I am your son,” I cry.

My mom and dad laugh and cry along with me. We all hug each other. I feel like I’ve defiantly found my real home.

“We know son,” my Rabaca mom answers.

We all stop hugging, but we cannot stop crying and chuckling.

“How did you find us?” asks my father.

I take out the Golden Egg. “This has guided me back to my real home,” I answer.

My father slowly grabs the Golden Egg and it stops glowing. I frown as I watch the egg diming.

“So it’s true, you aint the Eastah’ Bunny anymore?” I ask.

My dad sighs and nods. He passes the Golden Egg back to me and it glows. I am in shock that it is still glowing whenever I touch it.

“So, I am the next Eastah’ Bunny?” I ask.

My mom and dad nod. I feel a little worried and a bit stressed. I turn to Candy and she smiles at me. I point at myself and smile back. Then turn back to my mom and dad. My stress and worries are gone now. They have turned into excitement and confidence. I chuckle and raise my arms in the air.

“I knew it! I am the next Eastah’ Bunny!” I shout with joy.

My Rabaca parents laugh, and so do Candy and Clover. But Deegra looks upset as he folds his arms. I do not want to talk to him yet. But I will eventually.

I laugh with my parents. “I have so many questions. Why did you give me up when I was a little rabbit?” I ask.

My dad frowns and places his paw on my shoulder.

“We loved you so very much. The last thing we ever wanted to do was to give you up. But that was the only way to save you,” he answers.

My rabbit ears drop. “Save me, from what?” I ask.

“From the Shadow Rabbits, they wanted to take all of our baby rabbits. You were very important to us. We couldn’t let them take you away. So we transported you to the Human Realm. We knew that some humans would hunt you if they saw you as a rabbit. So we used some very rare magic to turn you into a human baby when you entered the Human Realm. I gave you that Golden Egg before you left this Realm so you can find your way home. And you have,” answers my father.

“But how did this Golden Egg find me? Did one of you put it in the park?” I ask.

My Rabaca mother shakes her head. “No, on the day of your eightieth birthday, it came to you. You must have lost it on your journey to the Human Realm. And now it has found you once again,” she answers.

“But how did you survive the Shadow Rabbits?” I ask.

My dad clears his throat. “We knew the Golden Egg was the only way to scare them off. But since we didn’t have it, we used our yellow crystal to banish them into Chivem Land. But when you entered our realm, the Shadow Rabbits went looking for you. You are our son and the next Easter Bunny,” he answers.

“Wait! So those things were aftah’ me because I’m the next Eastah’ Bunny?” I ask.

“When you become the next Easter Bunny you will bring back spring and end winter,” answers my father.

“My adopted mothah’ told me about the Rabbit Realm. She said that she thought she saw the Eastah’ Bunny. Was that you dad?” I ask my father.

“I’m sorry but it wasn’t me that entered the Human Realm,” answers my father.

“So that wasn’t you that my human mothah’ saw?” I ask.

“No. But whoever told your human mother about this Realm, I thank whoever did. If your human mother have not heard the story and told you the story, then you would have never found this place,” answers my father.

“I believed in this Realm so much that I wanted to prove to my human mom and dad that it was real,” I say.

“And your belief had led you back. Only if you believed, then you could enter our Realm,” says my father.

“So in ordah’ for us the find the Rabbit Realm, we had to believe it exists?” I ask.

My mom and dad nod. I am very happy to be home and found my real mom and dad. I cry as I hug them again.
