??? POV
"....and in other news, scientists are excited for a chance to measure how the up coming solar event may affect the magnetosphere of the planet. If you are going to a viewing of the event, please remember to use properly polarized lenses. Now onto Bill with sports!"
Placing my book down to look out the window, I'd sigh. Part of me does want to see the hubbub with whatever solar even is going to happen. The past few weeks have been a constant wash about, some say it's going to be a solar eruption, other think a solar flare, then there's the mention of maybe a sun spot being formed. Who knows really, but, it'd be a good way for the astrologists to actually observe and document the event and what happens for the future.
Getting up to check the time, it looks like there are still a few hours to burn 'till then. Moving to my computer desk I'd start things up. After all, a quick bit of some Dwarf Fortress might be a relaxing way to spend the last bit of time till the reports can start rolling in. Almost as soon as things really start to flow and I get into the zone, there's a massive series of pops from outside.
That's when the power goes out, lights, ac, computer and everything, even despite my backup power wall, and power banks. Concerned I'd go out the garage to check, the power wall, that cost so much having bloated massively like a lithium battery about to burst.
"Well, fuck"
The last thought to cross my mind as it bursts and showers me in heated slags and acids is how I should have got a backup generator instead.

Focusing back in after zoning out a bit, I'd take a moment to examine myself again. The lights inside my gemmy self bright and sparkling, but, no ring yet. That's fine, there will surely be more ways to get more of that energy I bet. For now though, it's time to put Poppit to work.
'Poppit, hey buddy, when you're done taking a drink, please come over here, you need to meet Babe and know where I am. Then your gonna be put to work, hope ya ain't to upset about that, but pretty sure you're gonna like what's gonna be asked of ya'
That handled it's time to start some basic plans. First thing being, a way to determine a rough time of day. A sundial should handle that easily, plus, it's super easy to make a simple one, especially when I know the direction the sun raises in. Well, that's if the rotation of this planet is the same, and has a similar tilt of the axis, so on and so forth. It won't be perfect, but even an only mostly accurate one should work. Actually now that I think about it, first we'll set it up to determine the cardinal directions.
Noting my noodly boyo getting close a quick word would be given to Babe.
'You should say hi to your new comrade, they'll be helping us quite a lot I think!'
Giving them some time to greet each other, a quick look at what resources are available would confirm my plan, should, be viable.
'Alright you two, hope you both had a good little meet and greet. Poppit, welcome to our happy lil family of weirdness. I need you to go pluck some grass, a few stalks or leaves per tuft, from each of the tufts by the spring and bring them over here. After that, you'll need to snip the flowering stalk from one of the spiky bushes then trim the flowers and such off of it. It needs to be smooth and as strait as possible.'
Turning my focus to Babe it's time for her to get a proper task as well.
'Babe, when Poppit gets the grass over here, you will need to use those pinchers of yours to carefully section them into segments. Roughly twice your length should do the trick and suit what's needed just fine. Oh, and both of you, if you don't understand something, or, need help, all you need do is let me know.!'
Babe POV
Curator instructed me to 'say hi' to his other scion, and, it was...quite the experience. They seem to talk faster than they think things out, not weighing what to say, just...saying it. Must be quite refreshing to be so carefree. After a bit of chatting with them, it is clear they are not just a beast, and while almost absurdly eager and full of energy, they are by no means dumb. Just a bit naïve, or maybe inexperienced, it is quite hard to tell. Then again, I have only had a short time as a head start to this current state of being, so perhaps it's more akin to how the Curator views things in such a different way to myself.
That does warrant more in depth looking into. Before any of those questions could be asked, Curator cuts off our surprisingly friendly meeting to give Poppit their first real task, and one for myself as well which is surprising. There isn't very much I can do currently, but, it is nice to be included. Even if it's something as cutting things to the best of my ability.
