Babe POV
Watching that massive plant turned serpent devour Curator's core with ease should be terrifying. However, seeing the color of its 'eyes' and the patterning of its hood, even without knowing what it is, it is clear it is touched by Curator. The next action it makes, however, is more shocking than anything as it 'lays' a massive seed from its mouth to drop where Curator's core was previously. The sandstone plinth that once supported him, simply crushed, by the large plant egg.
"Will that keep my domain here, even if we go elsewhere?" (Curator)
"Yesss, that isss the cassse my Father. Alssso, sssister Archivissst, do not fret ssso. I will keep Father sssafe and sssound, from prying eyesss and the harshnesss of the elementsss till the end of daysss." (Renenutet)
Her voice is not unpleasant either. The fact that one does not need to play a game of charades and guesses to properly understand her is a comparative luxury compared to interactions with Poppit.
"I would not worry as it is clear you too are touched by Curator, or, as you put it 'Father'. Although, I will admit, I do have many questions now about the nature of just how magic and mana can have such drastic effects. Those however are things for a different time as, it seems, Curator wishes to go do things outside the domain based on that little back and forth." (Babe)
"Observant as always Babe. Keep safe while I'm out, oh, and if you want to know about magic stuff, ask Vekla, he taught me some tricks there that have already started helping me out a ton!" (Curator)
"Noted, I will have to ask, as, if it is helpful to you, it will likely be helpful to any connected to you." (Babe)
Curator POV
Bases: touched. Transportation: secured. Beacon: placed. Okay, lets do this, I want to make a proper bit of 'godly presence' if I'm going to be a proper object of worship. Also part of the reason why my..our...uh...the body I'm now in and a part of, is named after an old egyptian primordial god. It's also fitting for a kingdom around an oasis to have an Egyptian flair, no? I mean, it's no Nile Delta, but eh, when ya got potato's you make potato soup. Normally I'd use lemons and lemonade on that, but well, lemonade in a desert is a treat!
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
"Okay Renenutet, can you feel where Vahlu and most of Poppit is? That's where we are going. If the survivors want to worship, I want to give them something to properly worship that can't be found anywhere else." (Curator)
"Underssstood Father. Let usss go and show them the way of thingsss then." (Renenutet)
With that we're off and...it's more refreshing than I though. While I can't really move...our...form on my own, between us we can move quite well, looking around all over even while still slithering easily closer to the slaver camp. Maybe just due to our size here but, we seem to be moving very, very fast, or maybe really slowly. It's kind of hard to tell without landmarks and I can only really feel we are steadily getting closer to our little away party.
"Why do you wish to let sssome of them live to worship you Father?" (Renenutet)
"Ah, that. A few reasons. One, it gives me a constant income and supply of mana, and, as they convert more people to follow and worship also, that supply of mana will grow which gives me the power to do things. Two, it shows I don't kill everyone that stumbles too close to me, so people are less likely to try and hunt me down. Lastly, for good folks it will let them know they don't need to fear me and likely, could seek refuge with me as I'm only going to cull the irredeemable, and the others will spread that as well. Since dead men tell no tales, we need some living folks too. Well...unless necromancy is a thing, then maybe dead men can tell tales, but I dunno if that's a thing or not." (Curator)
With a nod of my...our head that I didn't start, it's clear Renenutet understands my points there. This is still going to need some....getting used too. It's really strange having a 'body' again, but even more so sharing the body with some one else too. It's got upsides though, since even if I'm thinking on other stuff, I still get from point a to point b without getting lost. That aside it's quite...overwhelming in a way, to actually FEEL things again, from the sand sliding against our body. To the sun warming us, and the wind over us and through our various petals. It's....kind of overwhelming after not feeling physical sensations.
Almost before I know it, I can see that camp on the horizon as we draw closer to it, drawing me out of the relaxed reverie of all the new sensations, or rather, regaining of lost sensations.
