Curator POV
So, Vekla did not disappoint in bringing the brother's here so quickly, well no time like the present.
"So you two, your tribe now has security in my domain, and help from my knowledge. So it's time for one of you to be named, and both, to get roles. You'll likely change in ways similar as Vekla here did when I gave him his name, any objections or complaints before we start?" (Curator)
"I have none, I've already lead the tribe to a more prosperous future just by encountering you so a new purpose would be nice." (Chieftain)
"My brother may not have much complaint with it, but I don't wanna become some stay in the tent busy body from this." (Vahlu)
"Oh, no worries there. I actually do put some thought into assigning purposes and names, believe it or not. Like how Vekla will be researching magic for me, which aligns well with having been a shaman, or how Babe is to tend and organize the great library I wish to build. And Poppit, such a fun little thing, when you aren't a danger to him, or a snack, makes them a good choice to protect folks, and their change made that all the easier on all fronts, no?" (Curator)
Watching the reactions of the pair, it's easy to see the slight relief on Vahlu's face, and the contemplation on the Chieftains. Looks like the chieftain might be connecting the dots on how his roll will be to care for the every day needs and logistics of things here. Hmmm....eventually that will need some form of written language, the question is, do we make one, or just, use a language I know well already? Actually, that brings up the question of, if we even ARE speaking English or does mana act like some sort of auto-translator that would have made certain programs before the technological black out, cry in shame?
"Wait...does that mean I'll still be leading the people? Even with you here?" (Chieftain)
"Got it in one...Vaslo, the Steward. Who better to lead your people, than the one that's lead them here. Now, you will still be a subordinate of mine, but, most things regarding leading your people will be left to you, I'll be here to advise, and if I see something that will cause issues, I'll let you know as well. A tribe, village, civilization or nation all requires cooperation. Also, you may have noticed the similarity in your new name with your brother Vahlu, the Forager, I figured that could work well, starting your name with that Va sound since you are brothers, of roughly the same age from what I can tell." (Curator)
Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.
Feeling the mana flow out as I name Vaslo, and give both the brother's titles, I'd watch with curiosity as they begin to change, similar, but different to Vekla, but, having a lot more similarities between each other, the 'crest' horns for the brothers being curled similar to a ram's as opposed to the straits that Vekla has. Similar deep blue coloration though. Vaslo is bulking up quite a bit to be more on par with his brother, the later only needing more of a shift of stature compared to what happens with the un-named skinkles.
Turning my focus to Vekla, he looks, enraptured as he watches the changes and mana flows, maybe since it's something he went through like the chieftain, and with both brothers being more 'the same' as he was previously this gives him more insight onto how the changes happen. Perhaps he can gleam some ideas for this to try and apply, after all, knowledge is something good, but, it's only useful if well, it has a practical use!
Vaslo POV
Strength...more strength than I've ever felt, just...flowing into me. Is this what Vahlu felt like when he was named, or Vekla for that mater? This is...great, it feels weird, and...small bits of pain at times, but, still the good way outshines the bad! Curator said I'd be a steward...based on phrasing that has something to do with taking care of my people, but beyond that I've not much idea what it means. Then again, Curator constantly brings in new concepts and ideas, but, in a good way, they help us move forward.
Looking at my hands, clenching them slightly and moving things it feels so....right in a way. Like a binding I didn't know I had was removed. The changes in my body feel more comfortable in a way I hadn't even thought might be the case. Like this is how I should be. How WE should be. Is this what my tribe once was back in the days lost to history? Or maybe, this was what we were intended to become and something got out of sorts along the way and Curator has put us back on the right track? It's hard to tell, but I will do my best to show I'm worth this change.
Vahlu POV
A strange...weirdness fills me as Curator calls me a Forager, whatever that means. Perhaps it has to do with my role of looking for and bringing back things useful to the tribe. That'd be nice if I still got to do that. Twitching my tail as it changes, I can already feel how much more flowing the motions are. Feels like I'm moving it through air when before it was through loose sand. How much better will I be able to find things for the tribe now I wonder?
Looking over at my brother I can see the changes in him, likely mirrored on myself to a degree, but he is filling out nicely becoming more than just scales and bones like so many of our tribe are, even if Curator doesn't seem to know the degree of it. They do however, seem to know the dangers of eating too much, too fast, when you've not eaten in a long while, and the dangers of food being poison and ways to test for such. Perhaps my earlier caution was misplaced, however, if I were incautious of things, then I might have brought back things that could have harmed folks, so maybe caution isn't such a bad thing.
Vekla POV
Magnificent. Simply Magnificent. Watching how the mana flows out of Curator's core, and into the brothers almost like dust in water, but flowing into them like one breathes in air. Perhaps this is a trick I should teach Curator also, incase it doesn't know it. Seeing how the magic flows into, and through, the brothers is...enlightening. How it moves to rebuild their bodies, reshape them into this new form. Perhaps this could be applied to healing and mending wounds also? Flowing the mana like threads through tears to stitch it back together like the craftspeople build the tents. Swirling it through stiffened joints like mixing water with bone marrow paste to make sure it's all uniform.
Even just watching this has so many ideas flowing. Such things to test out and try. Not on my kin, if it can be helped of course, but some scraps of leather, and even some plant leaves could make a good medium to experiment with these things.
