Chapter 36: The Anxious Elders

Chapter 36: The Anxious Elders

Keshab and Punya stopped and looked serious. Looking at the state of things, war was inevitable. It was just a matter of time before the two clans learned all about the inheritance after all secrets were only safe with the dead, well in the case of Lunaris city. In the cultivation world, there were many techniques for making the dead speak. There were even techniques to trace back time. But that was too far for small clans. Since there were spies within the clan, they even had to prepare for the war secretly. In a month or two the two clans will probably rally the force and barge into the Rijal clan. Even now the Rijal clan was confident to repel the full attack of the Ming and Visigoth clan but if they invite some cultivators from outside, things will get complicated. So they had to prepare for the worst.

The inheritance became a necessity evil, without it, the development of the clan would be stagnant and in its presence, the survival of the clan was at stake. But they were also confident that if they survived this ordeal, the Rijal clan was sure to survive for thousand years. The supreme elders of the clan also decided to gamble this time because the Rijal clan came from nothing. Four hundred years later, the mortal siblings from the rural village who had escaped from beasts had settled in the Lunaris city, and today that clan ruled the city. They came from nothing so they were not afraid. Even if the clan was destroyed they had already deployed some measures to save the bloodline of the Rijal clan. They hoped that the survivors would take revenge for them. Although thinking about revenge more than the well-being of survivors was a little petty, what’s the fun in living if you are not even a little petty?

The breakfast was finished with silence. Punya stood up and said “I am going to the clan hall. I’m sure the elders are anxiously waiting for me. They were probably conspiring for a whole night. Today will be hectic so I won’t be able to come for training, Amrit.” Amrit nodded and Punya set off towards the clan hall. After a moment his grandparents also left to do their work. Only Radha and Amrit remained in the waiting hall. “Amrit, will you go to the training hall with me?” his mother asked. Amrit shook his head and replied “No I haven’t had proper rest this week. I will slack off for today.” “Alright, it is good to slack off now and then. Rigorous training every day isn’t always good. Then I will call you after I prepare lunch later.” replied Radha replied and left for the training hall underground.

Amrit had trained almost non-stop for the past week. He only got rest while sleeping otherwise he was always in the training hall. He had been in the supreme elder’s residence for a whole week. He only had memories about the different places in the clan and the city but hadn’t had the time to visit since he had returned from the forest. He didn’t have any close friends in the clan. He had friends but some of them had ulterior motives and some of them were idiots and he felt the remaining ones were just batshit crazy. There were only one or two who truly connected with him but they were in the Bareback mountains for training.

Since he was always training in the past he barely knew people his age in the clan. As he had no one close to meet in the clan he just decided to stay in the field. He went to the pond and across the pond, there was a spirit fruit tree. There were green, yellow, and red leaves all over the spirit fruit tree. There were flowers and a few fruits were hanging here and there. He searched the tree and found one ripe fruit. Picking the spirit fruit, he sat on the ground, his back against the bottom of the tree, and started munching on it. The fruit was juicy and sweet, filled with pure spirit energy. Although it was not much, this much energy was enough for a Qi-sensing realm cultivator to digest for a whole day. This was a second-grade tree and if an initial level Q-sensing realm cultivator ate the fruit, it would elevate their realm by one stage. Above the initial stage of the Qi-sensing realm, it will have the effect of increasing the spirit energy in their body and purifying it. After eating the fruit, he adjusted to a comfortable position and slowly closed his eyes.

Meanwhile, in the clan hall, the elders were seated from the morning waiting anxiously for the clan leader. Ever since yesterday evening, they had thousands of questions in their minds. Some of the elders had already redeemed the inheritance with their contribution points but there were many pill formulas, array and weapon blueprints, herb field cultivating techniques and talisman drawings, so they could only redeem a few of them. After they went home and read the inheritance, they were shocked and regretted not saving the contribution points. This was because they saw the way forward for the breakthrough. They were confident in breaking through another stage in an auxiliary profession within half a decade at the latest. They had reached the plateau of what the clan had to offer. Most of the elders had spent the clan contribution points on their family members because they had already gained most of what the clan had to offer so they invested in their family youngsters. They regretted slacking off.

Some of them wanted to go to the Bareback mountains to hunt spirit beasts and search for herbs and minerals just so they could gain clan contribution points. Today, the fifth elder had come to the clan hall. This was a rare sight. He wasn’t here for anything but to see the anxious faces of the clan elders. He wanted to see others suffer as he had. This was the first time in the week he had a smile on his face. He was looking at the elders and smirking. As the elders were clamoring among them, the door to the clan hall opened and a figure came in.
