When Amrit mixed his qi with aura, the combination almost reached the purity of late stage foundation building realm cultivators. When someone breaks through to a major realm, other than an immediate increase in strength their qi and aura are purified. The purity of qi in the foundation-building realm is more than double than that of someone in the peak of the qi sensing realm and with each minor breakthrough, the purity increases. An increase in purity doesn’t increase the strength in the same ratio but exponentially.
For example, a strand of qi from the initial foundation building realm cultivator is twice as pure as that of a cultivator at the peak of the qi sensing realm but the difference in strength is more than three times. This was also the reason there were hardly any cultivators capable of fighting cross-realm battles.
The further the cultivation realm went, the harder it became. For Amrit to match late stage foundation building realm cultivator in purity was unprecedented in history or even in those legends. But the only thing the same was purity, the reserve of qi in Amrit was still small in comparison to the late stage foundation building realm cultivators. So when he was battling the Thapa clan cultivator, he was feeling low on qi.
This was the first time he felt at a disadvantage. Previously he could go all out and still have qi remaining. Now he had to carefully calculate how much qi was he going to use in the next move and how much was needed to cancel the opponent’s move. It was thanks to his robust body and abundant aura he was able to endure till now. The cultivator from the Thapa clan was stronger than typical cultivators of the same realm from the Lunaris city.
The cultivator from the Thapa clan had reached Amrit with a sword full of qi emitting a dangerous vibe. This time the power of the sword was stronger than before. Amrit was also using both qi and aura at the same time and the power output was more than before. When they clashed, the shockwaves and optical effects were greater than before. The crackling electricity around them was becoming thicker whereas just the shockwaves emitted from them were enough to injure a cultivator at the initial stage of the foundation building realm.
The dust that had just risen from the ground was swept up by the shockwaves released by the clash. This time the Thapa clan cultivator was clad in qi all over his body to prevent the ribbons from sneak attacking him. Although he would have divided his concentration a bit to the chaotically dancing ribbons, Amrit also had to divide a bit of his concentration into controlling them, this was what the cultivator from the Thapa clan had thought.
What he didn’t know was that manipulating those ribbons was as simple as breathing to Amrit, he could do this with his thoughts so Amrit didn’t have to divide much of his concentration. The battle went on for a few minutes. Both of them were getting creative with each attack trying new ideas to exploit the flaws of the other person. Amrit was surprised because the Thapa clan cultivator was stronger than he had thought and had great battle awareness and the Thapa clan cultivator was shocked because Amrit was improving at a monstrous rate in the battle.

At first, Amrit could barely keep up with him but as the battle went on, he was showing signs of getting the upper hand. ‘This could not go on’ the cultivator from the Thapa clan thought and started increasing his qi input. The qi around the sword flared once more and when it collided with the halberd, Amrit was finally pushed back. A look of surprise was seen on Amrit’s face.
He knew that he was still weaker than the opponent but it was only when it came to qi reserves, his body was as strong as the cultivators at the late stage foundation building realm. But what he had miscalculated was that the opponent cultivated spirit grade cultivation technique and martial arts technique, although his mastery of both was not impressive, the grade of these arts was enough to make a huge difference.
After sliding two meters, Amrit halted and looked at the Thapa clan cultivator. The Thapa clan cultivator had a pleased expression on his face as he had finally gained an upper hand and he felt like he had figured out his opponent’s weakness. Indeed, he had figured out Amrit’s weakness which was the reserve of qi but what he had miscalculated was the recovery speed of the qi and aura. With the battlefield filled with blood, Amrit would never run out of aura and his body would be healed rapidly.
So even the fatal injuries would at most take a few more minutes to fully heal. The Thapa clan cultivator once again infused a lot of qi into the sword and used the Black swan returns technique charging at Amrit rapidly clad in a blackish hue like a shadow. He wanted to take down Amrit as fast as possible and look at other opponents. Amrit similarly used a lot of his qi and aura as well as a little bit of killing intent to execute the second step of the heavenly halberd technique. This time he was not using nine nether steps but only the halberd technique sweeping at 360⁰ angle. Amrit lowered his stance a little bit firmly planting his legs on the ground and a crimson red aura was swirling around him in a circular motion.
The second move of the heavenly halberd technique was a defensive and counterattack technique, unlike the first move which was purely offensive. The only drawback was that it was not very effective if used for pure offense and movement of the body was somewhat impaired when used with body movement techniques.
The halberd and sword met once more, the Thapa clan cultivator heading straight towards Amrit and Amrit spinning with halberd in his hands. It looked like a form of art. When they clashed, there was no loud sound. The crimson whirlwind around Amrit absorbed the attack almost completely and the halberd delivered the attack back to the Thapa clan cultivator with even more force.
This second move was a defensive and counterattack move that used a lot of Amrit’s qi and aura which was the reason he didn’t use this move often. Since Amrit had not broken through to the foundation building realm, the amount of force this move could handle was still limited to at most peak of foundation building realm but he couldn’t use this move often due to expenditure.
The Thapa clan cultivator was blown back and the counterattack had caused a lot of damage. There was an open wound on his chest and it was oozing blood.
