Chapter 24: Breakfast with Grandparents

In the Supreme elder's residence, the dinner was finished. After thanking his grandmother for the great pudding, he turned to his grandfather and said “Grandfather I am exhausted, I want to go to sleep.” His grandfather nodded and said “You had a rough day. Alright, go to the second floor you know where your room is.” Hearing this Amrit stood up and went to the second floor. After entering the second floor, the second room on the left had always been his room when he came to this residence. When he was small he visited his grandparents frequently and stayed there sometimes. Looking at the simple and clean room just like he had left it, he felt nostalgic. The bedding was fresh and there was a table with a flower pot containing a single purple flower that gave a soothing aroma. It looked like his grandmother had made the bed and decorated it. From his memories, he identified the flower as the Soul Calming Purple flower. It was a second-grade low-tier herb which was somewhat rare. It was also one of the auxiliary ingredients for the Soul nourishing pill. Even without refining, just having the Soul Calming Purple Flower nearby can soothe the spirit of a cultivator. Long-term contact with this flower helps strengthen the spirit power a little bit.

It was extravagant for the people of Lunaris city. Only his grandmother could spoil him that much. Even those elders in the clan will be envious of this arrangement. The day had been hectic for Amrit. He had engraved a lot of information on those jade slips. Especially the top tier inheritances and spirit grade martial arts had drained his spirit. But thinking about how much he had contributed to the clan he couldn’t help but feel accomplished. Just like that he drifted into sleep. This time there were no dreams or nightmares. A little bit of sunlight peered through the window and into Amrit’s face. When he woke up in the morning he felt refreshed. Usually, he woke up with the first ray of sunlight as it was beneficial for those in the Qi sensing realm. It was said that the first ray of sunlight carried a purple hue that was beneficial for cultivators. The purple color was usually used to represent monarchs and emperors. In the legends, it was said that the first ray of sun mixed with natural spirit energy created purple spirit qi capable of purifying the cultivator's body and enhancing their overall quality. Although it seemed beneficial that was only to those cultivators who had been sunbathing in first ray for a long time. The only immediate benefit was the natural spirit energy was purer.

Since he was exhausted yesterday when he woke up the sun had already risen. He stood up from the bed and folded the bedding. This was his habit from Earth so he did it subconsciously. In this world, a simple array keeps everything fresh so not many tend to do such mundane chores. He just smiled and went down the stairs. When he reached the kitchen his grandmother was already preparing breakfast. His grandfather was sitting in the waiting hall looking at the jade slip. This was the jade slip Amrit had engraved with array inheritance yesterday. His grandmother looked at Amrit and said, “Amrit, how was your sleep? Any difficulties?” He smiled at his grandmother and said, “I slept like a baby grandmother. It was just like previous times. Everything was the same.” “I’m glad to hear that. Now got to hall breakfast will be with you shortly.” saying this his grandmother just smiled and started flipping what looked like pancakes.

Stolen story; please report.

“Grandfather how is your progress.” Reaching towards waiting hall Amrit said. Without looking at him his grandfather replied “Some of these unorthodox arrays are confusing but I have already comprehended most of the commonly used ones. I have already informed your father to prepare the materials discreetly. I will secretly upgrade the arrays in our clan. When our strength catches up we can freely use them.” Hearing this Amrit just nodded and sat on the chair opposite of his grandfather. As the two of them were sitting in silence, his grandmother came to the table with a tray bringing teapot and pancakes. After pouring tea into cups and setting plates with pancakes, she tapped his grandfather’s head. Feeling someone tapping his head, his grandfather looked up and complained, “Hey hey, are you attempting to make my remaining hairs fall out?” He was almost bald with few of his hairs remaining. Although they were countable he took care of them. “If you let the pancakes go cold do you believe I will pull out those few dozen hairs on your head one by one?” fuming, his grandmother scolded his grandfather “Also why are you so engrossed on the jade slip at breakfast time?” Putting away the jade slip his grandfather looked up and sulked “I finally found something interesting and you had to spoil the fun.” Seeing his grandparents bickering he just smiled and started eating his breakfast. Seems like nothing has changed, Amrit inwardly thought.

After they had finished eating Amrit stood up and started collecting cups and plates on the tray but his grandmother stood up and stopped him saying “You guys stay here I’ll go clean these. Your grandfather has something to say.” Hearing this his grandfather said, “Oh right I nearly forgot. I have mostly drawn the array diagram for the second-grade top-tier spirit gathering array covering this house. When your father comes with those materials, it will start operating. So you should stay here for the time being. It will be beneficial for you.” “This fast.”, Amrit couldn’t help but be surprised. He thought his grandfather would take at least a week before drawing the diagram. It seemed his grandfather was an array genius. He was only limited by resources. “Hahaha, who do you think your grandfather is?” his grandfather replied smugly looking at his grandson’s surprised face. Then he began recalling his glory days, most of the time exaggerating about how much of a genius he was. He was practically invincible from the time he was born. Hearing this bragging Amrit and his grandmother just smiled letting him be.
