The Pope looked down at the battlefield hovering in the air with thousands of E-Grades guarding her. Leo grimaced the Pope hasn’t made an appearance yet her showing up could only mean something bad was about to happen. The battlefield grew eerily quiet as everyone paused. Suddenly the Pope pointed at Leo and grinned a macabre bloody set of point teeth filled Leo’s vision. Leo immediately tried to book it but the Pope appeared in front of him. It wasn’t teleportation she was just so damn fast.
A staff poked Leo’s stomach slightly and sent him tumbling down. Leo briefly considered using his favor with the League Of Shadows to save him but turned the thought down who knew what the Pope wanted from him. A slightly crazed look appeared in the Pope’s eyes getting onto Leo’s nerves. He briefly considered attacking but she was E-Grade the fight wouldn’t go well. Finally after a long bout of silence that felt longer than it should have the Pope spoke.
“You’re the one that defeated Asil and Kommando? Impressive.”
Leo’s eyes slimmed:”That’s what you want to talk about?”
The Pope looked curiously at Leo:”Why else would I come down?”
Leo grew increasingly cautious:”What is it you want to talk about?”
“A duel. My fellow Pope in the D-Grade would love a fight.” The Pope sighed.
Leo’s stomach churned as he remembered how the Pope had chopped off the arm of a Half-Step Monarch. “I have to decline.” Leo gritted his teeth prepared to activate his life saver at any moment.
The Pope looked at Leo with a gaze that made him incredible uncomfortable. “This isn’t a matter of whether you want to or not the rivers of Fate are hard to disturb. You will enter the duel no matter what. After all it’s written.”
Leo felt insanely uncomfortable with the Popes cryptic words and a feeling of Fate descended seemingly locking the duel into the rivers of time. “Why did you have to make an appearance just to tell me a duel was going to happen?”

The Pope turned back and a glint of adoration appeared:”The Cursed Monarch divined that the best turn of events would happen this way.”
Leo felt a chill go down his spine when you got to higher grades it became increasingly hard to kill people of your same grade as anyone who have reached the higher levels were talent with unimaginable foundations. The Cursed Monarch was known for fighting off 5 Monarchs and got away with 2 of them dead. Another feat perhaps more impressive was that he survived an errant tendril of flame from a Autarch. While the Autarch wasn’t even trying to kill him and the “attack” held no intent it could be considered residue from a Autarch attack. The Monarch was bedridden for millennial before he could stand up again.
To have such a beast divine his future felt like he was going to die. The Pope looked at Leo one last time with an inscrutable look and then left just as quickly as she arrived. Everyone looked at him with a mix of sympathy and respect. Leo looked at the Curse Sword Cultivators on the other side and they suddenly started shuffling back to the teleporters. Leo looked at them with understanding. This matter was insane and they didn’t have the qualifications to start fighting.
What if someone accidentally kills Leo then wouldn’t the Cursed Monarchs divination be in vain and doing something like that would anger the D-Grade Pope which basically means your whole extended family would be gone. But suddenly they came back dejectedly and the seemingly general of the opposing army announced :”The teleporters are shut down there was a note on them they asked us to fight you just make sure the kid doesn’t die.”
Everyone looked on with sympathy unfortunately Monarchs don’t care about F and E-graders even Hegemons were nothing unless extremely talented. The first people charged and war ensued as Leo sighed war was war.
Dismantle after Dismantle was sent throughout the battlefield slaughtering the weaklings Leo felt his thoughts were jumbled. He just kept on killing without a remorse. He knew that it wasn’t fair that they were just left to fend off themselves but in all sincerity he didn’t care. The Multiverse was cruel and the only way for “fairness” to exist was to have strength to do so.
Leo left the battlefield feeling depressed he sat down in a camp and people paraded him around calling him the “chosen” one because of the grand announcement the Pope made. The top dogs of the Xeno Sector also didn’t ask about him as they didn’t want to get the Cursed Monarch into this. Even the Sword Saint didn’t seem to care.
Leo opened his Status Screen.
